Roto Riteup: August 14, 2017

I think this Rafael Devers kid may have something here:

On the Agenda:

1. Trade!!! (and rumor)

2. Bryce ok?

Trade!!! (and a quasi-rumor)

Tyler Clippard was traded to the Houston Astros for a player to be named later. Clippard recorded two saves in ten innings since being traded to the White Sox last month. He will likely figure into a seventh inning role with the Astros and has little to no value moving forward in fantasy other than in holds formats.

According to Jon Heyman, the time on his waiver claim has expired. It is unknown which team won the waiver claim on Kinsler, but obviously they either could not or did not want to acquire him from the Tigers.

Bryce ok?

Bryce Harper was placed on the 10-day DL with a bone bruise following this ugly play on Saturday night:

Harper appears to have avoided serious injury after an MRI on Sunday did not show any ligament damage. He will likely miss the majority of the rest of the season making it unlikely he can help fantasy players much rest of the way.

Various News and Notes

Nolan Arenado was removed from Sunday’s game after being hit in the hand by a pitch. X-rays returned negative for Arenado and he was diagnosed with a contusion on the injured hand. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Ryan McMahon made his first Major League start on Sunday for the Rockies going 1-for-3 with a walk against the Marlins. McMahon is a former top prospect for the Rockies that has had his stock drop tremendously over the last couple seasons. However, this season he was hitting .375/.409/.625 in AAA with 13 home runs and appears to have rebounded quite a bit. This should be the Rockies everyday first baseman of the future and should be scooped up in any availble dynasty or keeper leagues.

Chad Bettis will start on Monday following a bout with testicular cancer that moved into his lymph nodes that required surgery and chemotherapy. Bettis isn’t likely much of a fantasy option even in NL Only leagues, but he is a person to root for with a tremendous story. Bettis is one of the good guys and it’s great to see him on the field once again.

A pitcher for today: Adam Conley vs SF

The Giants are coming off of a double header that went extra innings in Washington then flew late night to Miami. It could be an ugly lineup for San Francisco as Panik was hurt on Sunday and Posey could get sat after catching the second half of the double header.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Tyler Skaggs @ WAS

This is a risky play, but Skaggs has looked pretty good in his return and gets a Washington squad without their best player.
