Sleeper and the Bust DK Contest

On most Tuesday’s and Friday’s and some other days, Paul Sporer and I will be doing a $5 draftkings game for anyone that is interested. Will add a link once available.

Quick Hits

Yonathan Daza left Thursday’s game with a shoulder injury.

He reportedly dislocated it and then repopped it back into place himself. He stated he hopes to avoid the IL, but this seems unlikely.

Kyle Schwarber left Thursday’s game with a calf strain. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Max Fried was placed on the 7-Day Concussion IL. Fried suffered a concussion in his last start. There is no timetable for his return, but he is eligible to return as of August 15th if he can pass protocols.

Jonathan India left Thursday’s game with a leg contusion after being hit by a pitch. X-rays were negative. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Various News and Notes
Nick Madrigal went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases in the victory over the Reds on Thursday.

Madrigal has struggled on the field as well as struggling to stay on the field this season. However, since returning from the IL, he has been hot, hitting .400 over the last week. He has fantastic contact skills with an elite zone contact rate and enough speed to be a difference maker on the base paths if he is given the green light. He could be a sneaky pick up for the rest of the season in deeper leagues.

Edward Cabera threw 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out six in the victory over the Phillies.

Cabrera flashed his great stuff in the outing, but the Phillies could not lay off his when it was out of the zone. He threw 56/91 pitches for strikes, but induced 11 whiffs and a ton of ground balls to get him through the outing. Cabrera’s wildness will catch up to him in outings, but if he can learn to harness it, he could be a star on the mound.

Do the O’s envision Vavra Odor’s replacement or is he more of a super UT and Henderson is the replacement for Odor?

Isn’t Henderson ticketed for 3rd?

Vavra’s probably a utility guy, but sure. There are universes where he’s a regular starter somewhere in the infield.
