Various News and Notes

Kevin Kiermaier was placed on the 10-Day DL with a torn ligament in his thumb. Kiermaier was forced out from Sunday’s game after being hit by a pitch. He will reportedly miss 8-12 weeks. Carlos Gomez and Mallex Smith will likely cover for him in center during his absence.

Josh Harrison was placed on the 10-Day DL with a fracture in his left hand. He will likely miss about six weeks. Adam Frazier will pick up the majority of the at bats in his absence.

Anthony Rizzo will be activated from the DL on Tuesday. Rizzo was placed on the DL with a back injury, but has been able to recover with some rest. Get ready to activate him in your lineups.

Jurickson Profar was removed from Monday’s game after colliding with Mallex Smith during an awkward slide by Smith. It appears he may have suffered a concussion and could likely end upon the 7-Day DL. Profar is a former top prospect that has never lived up to the hype, but he is getting a real opportunity to play with both Rougned Odor and Elvis Andrus on the DL. This could derail his progress, so keep an eye on it.

Matt Duffy left Monday’s game with a strained hamstring. He will likely hit the DL, but the final decision on this will happen Tuesday. Duffy missed all of last year and some of 2016 with injuries and has limited upside to begin with. He can be dropped in most formats outside of AL Only leagues.

Victor Robles underwent an MRI on Tuesday and the results were good. Robles does not have any structural damage in his elbow after what was an awful looking dive for a fly ball in a AAA game. He will likely miss a fair amount of time, but he should be back at some point this season.

Streaming Pitchers Options

A pitcher for today: Joe Biagini

Biagini reportedly will get the second game of the double header today, so this is a late add. I am a Biagini convert and he gets a nice matchup today versus KC.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Matt Boyd vs BAL

Boyd has been very good this season and gets the Orioles (who lead the Major Leagues in strikeout percentage) at home.

Kiermaier was injured on a slide to second while stretching for a double, not a HBP.

But other than that, mascots – and clowns – suck.

Yeah not really sure how one would tear a thumb ligament on a HBP anyways.
