Arizona Diamondback Defense

No fantasy analysis here. Just thought everyone could use a laugh to start their Tuesday.

Fun with Small Samples

Currently, the MLB leader in RBIs is… Mark Reynolds with 10. He also is tied with Jay Bruce, Khris Davis, Sal Perez, and George Springer with the MLB lead in home runs with 4.

Brett Gardner leads MLB in stolen bases with 5 and there are 20 players with at least two steals.

A year after winning the AL Cy Young Award, Rick Porcello is leading MLB in hits allowed and trendy 2017 AL Cy pick Yu Darvish is allowing the most walks so far this season.

Greg Holland leads MLB in saves with 4.

All this is to say, if you are in first place in your league, that will change. Also, if you are in last place in your league, that will change too. In almost every league, there will be one or two guys that buy into these early standings and decide to buy or sell based on that, feel free to take advantage of it.

Various News and Notes

Joaquin Benoit was named the closer for the Phillies, but if you read yesterday’s masterpiece, then you would have known that would (might) happen.

Blake Treinen was unavailable yesterday due to heavy usage, according to manager Dusty Baker. This is only interesting because in the eighth inning, Shawn Kelley was warming up for the potential save situation opportunity and still pitched the ninth anyhow. While there is no reason to at the moment to believe that Treinen is on shaky ground, Kelley is undoubtedly next in line.

Buster Posey was removed from yesterday’s game after being hit in the head by Taijuan Walker. Supposedly he is ok, but if concussion issues pop up, Nick Hundley becomes interesting in two-catcher leagues.

Sean Doolittle got the save on Monday, while Santiago Casilla pitched in the eighth inning. It appears it will be a committee in Oakland for the near future. Enjoy.

Joc Pederson has no chill:

Seriously… none:

Jackie Bradley Jr. will be placed on the DL with a hyperextended knee. Chris Young becomes interesting as a deep league replacement.

Streaming Pitcher Options

A pitcher for today: Bartolo Colon ($6,600 on DK/25% owned on Yahoo) @MIA

Big Sexy looked good in his debut this season and gets to go to the friendly confines of Marlins park today.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Amir Garrett (17% owned in Yahoo) @PIT

I am a fan of Garrett and was impressed with his debut vs the Cardinals. Now he gets to pitch in PNC Park. Worth the gamble in deep formats and as a contrarian DFS play.
