Junior Felix: Do you find it at all suspicious that Felix hit the DL with a calf strain? Will the few weeks off turn out to be a blessing for The King?

Paul Sporer: Not suspicious. if you’re suggested it might be a little trumped up, you may well be right. doesn’t bother me. I was calling for that kind of stint for Harvey, but he might’ve worked through it v. CWS

Astro Boy: Do we see both Bregman and Reed come up in June? Who do you like better long-term?

Paul Sporer: I have no idea on call-ups. And honestly, it’s because the teams don’t know either. I know you’re looking for my best guess, but I have to be straight when I tell you it’s useless. That said, I’ll still offer it up since you were nice enough to drop by & ask! I see Reed this month and Bregman in July if 3B continues to be a hole, but only if they’re still contending

Tony: Michael Fulmer sure looks amazing these days. You a big fan?

Paul Sporer: I was a fan from the jump, but he struggled and I honestly thought his days were numbered with Greene headed back (though let’s be honest, Greene should replace Pelfrey or Sanchez – at least Sanchy just went to the pen), but Greene isn’t ready and Fulmer has beasted and now given himself a legit leash.

Paul Sporer: Maybe Minnesota should’ve given Berrios longer. Maybe these guys just need 4-5 starts to get going. This just in: MLB is hard af!

WAWAR: Joe Musgrove… when do we see him and how does he compare to McCullers and McHugh?

Paul Sporer: I really like him and I think he’s a prospect who could outplay his prospect status. His stuff isn’t like McCullers’, but it’s better than McHugh’s and he has fantastic command. I’d stash in deep leagues (AL-only… or at least like 20 teams for mixers)

Make FanGraphs Great Again: What is your thoughts on Marco Estrada and Tanner Roark ROS? I feel like these dudes consistently get ZERO Respek.

Paul Sporer: You’re right and I’m part of it w/Estrada. I didn’t see him being more than a mid-3.00s guy this year. He’s great at inducing poor contact and he’s doing it even better than he did last year which is amazing. Both are solid arms. I was excited about Roark going back to the rotation after reading up on him this winter, so I’m not as shocked by him

Jacko: Estrada at Bos or Rodon at Det this weekend?

Paul Sporer: Don’t love either, but you gotta go Estrada between those two. He’s pitching SO well that he may even be able to handle the juggernaut

Gomer : Is Yan Gomes a good buy low candidate? I’m in need of a starting catcher but his 2016 numbers are awfully uninspiring.

Paul Sporer: Ya I mean, he’s OK bc he’s been SO bad and unless he’s hurt, he has to improve. C has been god-awful this year. Could also buy Norris who is similarly so low that he almost can’t go anywhere but back up

Billy Beane: Has Sean Manaea shown you anything over the past few starts that makes you trust him ROS?

Paul Sporer: I’ve been huge on Manaea this year so I’m glad to see him settling in. Could’ve easily been sent out after at BOS start but I’m glad they resisted. Nothing MAJOR over the last four except that he’s pitching more as opposed to just throwing and hoping to dominate. Generic, but also true

I Love Twinkies: Is Trevor May still the likely closer in Minny when Jepsen invariably implodes again? When is Perkins likely to return?

Paul Sporer: It’s May rn, but Perk will prob get the gig back when he returns (which still feels at least a couple weeks out)

msp: Would you trade Goldy and Lucas GIoliti for Trout in annual redraft? I have a weak OF but very limited 1b replacements as well. Thoughts?

Paul Sporer: Yeah, that’s easy in a redraft. Probably even in a dynasty, tbh

Tony: Talk to me about Tropeano. I’m half terrified and half loving having him on my team. What should I expect going forward?

Paul Sporer: The travails of using young pitchers. The 3.25/1.55 ERA/WHIP combo doesn’t match and it’s the WHIP is realer of the two unfortunately.

Paul Sporer: Yeah I’d do that. I think Trumbo is doing his normal fast start and I’m legit concerned about Archer and just think it’s going to be a meh year (assuming health isn’t the reason behind this)

Jack: Talk to me about Matt Shoemaker. Increased splitter usage was really working against your Tigers last night (lots of swinging strikes, and lots of weak contact). Even though he gave up 10 hits, he passed the eye test. For a guy that’s probably available in most leagues, are you buying him as worthy of a spot in those leagues?

Legion: Who do you like better with respect to counting stats: M. Fulmer or M. Shoemaker? H2H, Redraft. Sadly, wins are the goal here.

Tony: Before the season I had traded Frazier and Polanco for Donaldson. Now i am strongly regretting that. My OF currently is Springer, Heyward, Valencia, Maybin, Grichuk. (14 team, OBP, 3 OF spots.) While Donaldson hasnt been bad, Frazier and Polanco have been awesome

Paul Sporer: Yeah, it’s def not your favorite deal at this point. I really like Frazier and pegged Polanco for a breakout this year so I hope I didn’t encourage you to do that deal as it doesn’t seem like one I’d OK even though Donaldson is the best player in the deal

I used to try to identify names and then I’d always get “well the guys in my league would never do him, him, or him”… so it’s really hard to get specific

Paul Sporer: But you should pull a real arm for Story. He’s a high quality fantasy SS

Paul Sporer: I’m actually studying that exact thing rn. I think we might have to allow a grace period with these guys. The overwhelming majority will not be dominant right away but 3-4 bad ones to start doesn’t mean they’re 100% not ready, either. Manaea looked not-ready early on, but then really got it together and looks SO much sharper now

Paul Sporer: Fulmer actually *looked* better than his numbers early on, but I still worried he could get sent back out. Thankfully he didn’t.

Paul Sporer: trade Kang (love him, but many do so his market will be best), keep Desi, and cut Villar… but don’t cut Villar. Just had to pick one to cut since you asked.

Paul Sporer: His profile isn’t too far off from his history, so I’d actually be willing to bet on a rebound. K% up a little, more FB than normal, but not so far out of the ordinary that he can’t rebound

CW: Being offered two forms of a deal, would you take either? Profar/Gaus/D. Peralta for A. Jones/J. Lamb or Profar/Gaus for A. Jones? I would be receiving the Jones side. 10 team keeper league. Pitching is set for me, but nervous about Profar’s potential in keeper league.

Paul Sporer: That’s really impressive. I can buy that he’s getting more by using it less. I can buy that he can be a successful arm, but his margin for error remains low

Paul Sporer: If you have spots that need filling, you can do it. But I prefer the duo

Lupe: would you keep pineda in an AL only where your other starters are Darvish, McCullers, Gausman, and Kluber and there’s no bench?

Paul Sporer: If there’s no bench, I’d look for something better. I’m just so out on Pineda

Paul Sporer: Always been a HUGE fan. He’s putting it together and still just 26 y/o

Paul Sporer: There is, but he’s not a huge swing and miss guy so there was a downside

Paul Sporer: That’s aggressive. I wouldn’t go that high
