Ottoneu Power Rankings: August 2016

We are nearing the homestretch in the baseball and ottoneu season, and this will be the last in-season power rankings. The next time power rankings are released, they will be final 2016 results, and I plan on releasing the full team/league standings files for each format at that time as well.

We have a new #1 team! The appropriately named 20,530 or Bust takes over the top spot, thanks to a blistering 6.54 PPG pace. Last month six teams were on pace to beat the FGPTS record of 20,530, and this month nine teams are still on pace to do so. I think it’s safe to say that the points record will be shattered, and a handful of teams are likely to eclipse 20,530. Offense continues to be up, with all FGPTS teams averaging 5.29 Pts/G, up from 4.92 Pts/G last year. Pitching continues to be down, with an average Pts/IP of 4.95 compared to 5.14 Pts/IP in 2015.

We need to go back and verify at season’s end, but pretty sure a finish of 6.54 P/G would be a record best offense, too.
