Ottoneu June Power Rankings

My how time flies! We are already at the halfway point of the season, and the league races and overall power rankings are really starting to take shape. Here are links to the  April and May power rankings where I gave the history of these rankings and explained the methodology.

Without further ado, the FanGraphs points league team rankings (1,340 teams):

Top 10 FGPTS Teams by Pace
LgNum TeamName Points PPG PIP pGP pIp PACE
194 The Murder Boners 11,797.2 6.45 6.26 1,938 1,500 21,888

248 Piedmont Boll Weevils 11,338.6 6.42 5.80 1,944 1,442 20,847
207 King Kang 10,976.6 6.02 6.04 1,944 1,495 20,734
389 Smelly Pirate Hooker 10,955.0 6.03 6.31 1,940 1,427 20,705
52 Durham Tobacconists 10,958.0 6.22 5.93 1,897 1,500 20,693
32 The Yastrzemskinators 11,169.0 6.14 5.79 1,944 1,493 20,582

The #1 FGPTS team remains this same this month, but there was a fair bit of shakeup within the rest of the top ten. Last month ten teams were on pace to beat the FGPTS record of 20,530, and this month eleven teams are on pace to do so! I think it’s fair to say that the record will be broken by at least one team in 2016. Offense continues to surge as we reach the summer, with all FGPTS teams averaging 5.30 Pts/G, up from 4.92 Pts/G last year and 5.13 Pts/G just last month. Pitching continues to be down, with an average Pts/IP of 4.96 compared to 5.14 Pts/IP in 2015.

Here are the FGPTS league power rankings (112 leagues):

FGPTS League Power Rankings
lgNum LgName AvgRk Rnk+
649 Brinksmanship 439.6 134.6
347 MVP Baseball 2005 444.8 133.9
532 A Small Sample 474.5 129.4
93 ottobros 478.6 128.8
195 Wins Above Figgins 495.5 126.3
504 KyGentlemensClub 509.3 124.3
380 Don’t Be Chi 521.4 122.5
90 UZR Friendly 539.1 119.8
671 MLB 2k16 539.1 119.8
530 Ottoneu Champions 542.8 119.3

As a reminder, the AvgRk column represents the average overall rank of all teams in the league, with 672.48 representing the average league. The Rnk+ column basically scales the AvgRk against 672.48, so that the 134.6 Rnk+ of Brinksmanship means that the teams in that league are ranked 34.6% higher than you would expect from a perfectly average league.

That leads to the inevitable follow-up. Has anyone pitched a perfect 120 or 96 in Ottoneu?

The 4×4 team from #34 that scored 95 in 2013 is the same one that’s at the top of this month’s list. The guy that runs that team is a stud!

I’m truly proud to see my name up in lights……….twice. I took over one 8th place team and one last place team in 2014, 20,530 or Bust and Smelly Pirate Hooker, along with another new league team I’ve since dropped, and have had 4 first place finishes and 1 fifth place finish in 5 seasons and now have 2 of the top 8 teams in Ottoneu. MAJOR LEAGUE GMs, PLEASE CONTACT ME AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE! I AM NOT KIDDING AND I CAN HELP YOUR FRANCHISE!

What do you think you can do with the Angels this year? Would you trade Trout?

At his contract, age and value he’s easily the most valuable player in MLB. Trading him you’d have to get back multiple nearly guaranteed stars back at low cost. I’d need Beninendi, Moncada, Devers and Eduardo Rodriguez back for him, for example otherwise no dice.

That 6.45 PPG pace for Murder Boners in 194 is insane, but when you actually look at the roster it’s easy to see why. That team is stacked and probably setup to win for several years. I’ve never seen a team up by 2,100+ at the break, and the dashboard projects a season-ending victory by almost 3,800 points. Crazy.

I like the “Hughes Your Daddy” league name…

It would be interesting to see the complete lists at the end of the season.
