Lineup Analysis (7/12/25)

American League

Angels

• Since coming off the IL, Yoán Moncada has hit sixth and started every game.

Jorge Soler started in seven of nine games since coming off the IL while batting in the lower half of the lineup.

Astros

Cooper Hummel (100 wRC+) started in nine of the last 10 games in left field.

Zack Short started at shortstop in four of the last five games.

Athletics

• In his first game off the IL, Miguel Andujar hit cleanup while playing at third base.

• Since coming off the IL, Zack Gelof has started at second base while batting eighth.

Blue Jays

Joey Loperfido (152 OPS+) started four straight games.

Nathan Lukes leads off, but just against righties. He still sits against lefties.

Guardians

Brayan Rocchio (48 OPS+) started in eight of the last nine games at shortstop while batting ninth.

Mariners

Miles Mastrobuoni (78 OPS+) has started in two of the last four games at third base instead of Ben Williamson (81 OPS+).

Orioles

Jacob Stallings started at catcher in three of the last four games.

Ryan O’Hearn started in three of the last five games against a lefty.

Rangers

• Between being the catcher and the DH, Jonah Heim started in 14 straight games.

• Since coming off the IL, Jake Burger has hit seventh or eighth.

Rays

Ha-Seong Kim 김하성 started in three straight games at shortstop.

• No regular at second base with Brandon Lowe (side) banged up.

Red Sox

Romy Gonzalez started three straight games, including two against righties. Normally, he’s just a short-side platoon bat.

Royals

Nick Loftin (70 OPS+) started in five straight games.

Tigers

Javier Báez only started in seven of the last 10 games.

• Since coming off the IL, Matt Vierling started in seven of 11 games.

Twins

Ty France started in only four of the last eight games. Kody Clemens starts at first base instead.

Brooks Lee started in only three of the last six games. Willi Castro has been starting at second sometimes with everyone “healthy”.

White Sox

Colson Montgomery (146 OPS+) started six straight since being promoted. In corresponding moves, Chase Meidroth moved to second base and Lenyn Sosa to DH.

Yankees

Jasson Domínguez hit leadoff in three straight games.

Paul Goldschmidt with just six starts in the last 10 games.

Oswald Peraza started at third base in three of the last four games.

National League

Braves

Michael Harris II sits against lefties even though he’s hitting them better than righties (.524 OPS vs RHP, .580 OPS vs LHP).

Brewers

• Since Rhys Hoskins went on the IL, Jake Bauers and Andrew Vaughn have split time at first base.

Joey Ortiz took a two-game break, and Andruw Monasterio started at shortstop instead.

Cardinals

• No changes.

Cubs

• No changes.

Diamondbacks

Geraldo Perdomo is now batting third or fourth.

• Even with the DH, the team has one too many outfielders, so one of Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Randal Grichuk, Alek Thomas, or Jake McCarthy must sit every game.

Dodgers

• It’s tough to determine what is going on with a couple of guys (Edman, Teoscar) dealing with injuries.

Michael Conforto sat against five of the last six lefties.

Giants

Willy Adames moved up to batting third.

• Since coming off the IL, Casey Schmitt played all three games and hit sixth.

Dominic Smith (vs RHP) and Wilmer Flores (vs LHP) seem to be in a first base platoon. Smith has cooled down with a .432 OPS over the past two weeks.

Marlins

Liam Hicks (catcher-qualified) started in six of the last 10 games.

Heriberto Hernandez (152 OPS+) started in four of the last five games, including two against righties. He’s mainly been a short-side platoon bat this season.

Mets

• It’s tough to know what’s going on with the DH since Jesse Winker and Starling Marte are on the IL. Mark Vientos got the first opportunity at DH with Brett Baty at third base and Luisangel Acuña at second base.

Nationals

Brady House (66 OPS+) is losing some third base reps to Paul DeJong (68 OPS+).

Daylen Lile (82 OPS+) and Alex Call (127 OPS+) split time in right field.

Padres

• No changes.

Phillies

• No changes.

Pirates

• When Spencer Horwitz starts (vs RHP), he leads off.

Tommy Pham (1.161 OPS over the last month) started in nine of the last ten games while hitting in the top two spots in the last three games.

Reds

Noelvi Marte bats ninth against righties.

Rockies

• Since being promoted, Yanquiel Fernández (.263/.263/.316) started in six of eight games.

Ryan Ritter (61 OPS+) has only started in three of the last five games.
