Lineup Analysis (4/28/23)
American League
Angels
• Brandon Drury (.824 OPS, 5 HR, 0 SB) has started in eight of the last 10 games.
• Chad Wallach (.978 OPS) and Matt Thaiss (.814 OPS) are splitting the catching duties.
Astros
• Jeremy Peña has hit second for three straight games.
• Corey Julks (.752 OPS, 2 HR, 1 SB) is not starting against lefties.
Athletics
• Too many replacement level bats to in part-time roles thereby killing any fantasy value.
• Conner Capel (.700 OPS, 4 SB) has started in nine of the last 10 games.
Blue Jays
• Brandon Belt has not played more than two games in a row all season.
Guardians
• Josh Naylor is no longer in a platoon (started against four of the last five lefties).
• Oscar Gonzalez (.534 OPS) is on the short side of a platoon.
Mariners
• AJ Pollock (.456 OPS) has started seven straight games.
• Kolten Wong (vs RHP) is now in a platoon with Jose Caballero (vs LHP)
Orioles
• The infield is a mess with Adam Frazier, Joey Ortiz, Ramón Urías, Gunnar Henderson, and Jorge Mateo splitting three spots (2B, SS, 3B).
Rangers
• Stable except a couple platoons.
• Josh H. Smith (vs RHP) and Ezequiel Duran (vs LHP) are in a shortstop platoon.
• Bubba Thompson (vs LHP) and Travis Jankowski (vs RHP) are in a left field platoon.
Rays
• Still, just three regulars (Diaz, Franco, Arozarena).
• Harold Ramírez (1.094 OPS) has started in seven of the last ten games.
Red Sox
• Steady.
• Connor Wong (.528 OPS) has started in six of the last 10 games.
• Jarren Duran might be on the strong side of a platoon.
Royals
• All that needs to known about this team is that Michael Massey hit .273/.273/.273 over the last week and moved up in the lineup.
• Edward Olivares (.678 OPS, 2 HR, 1 SB) has started in eight of the last 10 games.
Tigers
• The team is trying to use platoons to improve the offense but none of the players are average. It’s a bunch of below average guys playing half the time thereby making them fantasy irrelevant.
• Zach McKinstry (vs RHP) and Jonathan Schoop (vs LHP) are in a second base platoon.
Twins
• Jorge Polanco has settled into the middle of the lineup.
• Max Kepler has sat against the last two lefties.
• Nick Gordon has started only once in the last seven games.
White Sox
• Lenyn Sosa (.397 OPS) has started 12 of 14 games at second base.
• Jake Burger (1.019 OPS) has started 13 straight at third base.
• Oscar Colás as only started in five of the last 10 games.
Yankees
• Anthony Volpe has leadoff for 11 straight games.
• After the first five batters, this lineup is an absolute shit show.
National League
Braves
• Kevin Pillar (.618 OPS), Eddie Rosario (.680 OPS), and Sam Hilliard (.904 OPS) are splitting two outfield spots.
• Marcell Ozuna has started in only five of the last 10 games.
Brewers
• Rowdy Tellez (vs RHP) and Luke Voit (vs LHP) are in a platoon.
• Christian Yelich (career .773 OPS vs LHP, .865 OPS vs RHP) has sat against the last two lefties.
• It no longer seems like Brice Turang is in a platoon (eight straight starts, 2 vs LHP).
Cardinals
• Lars Nootbaar has leadoff for six straight games.
• Nolan Gorman has hit third for three straight games.
• Brendan Donovan, Tommy Edman, and Paul DeJong are splitting time at the two middle infield positions.
Cubs
• Eric Hosmer (.655 OPS) has started in eight of the last nine games.
Diamondbacks
• The outfield playing time opened up with Jake McCarthy in the minors.
• Pavin Smith (1.081 OPS) is starting against most righties.
• Alek Thomas (.601 OPS) has started 11 straight games, two against lefty starters.
• Track the playing time of Josh Rojas (.668 OPS) with Emmanuel Rivera joining the team.
Dodgers
• With injuries and paternity leave rampant, it’s tough to tell whose role is what in the bottom half of the lineup.
• Jason Heyward (.695 OPS) has started five games, three while batting third.
Giants
• Everyone is healthy so it’s tough to find any regulars. Even Brandon Crawford is only facing right-handed starters.
• Mitch Haniger (career .851 OPS vs LHP, .795 OPS vs RHP) seems to be on the short side of a platoon with LaMonte Wade Jr. Maybe he’s just being rested. Monitor as he gets more chances.
Marlins
• Garrett Hampson (.653 OPS) has started six straight games at shortstop while batting ninth.
• Jean Segura has started in only seven of the last 10 games.
Mets
• Steady.
• Check in on Mark Canha’s playing time because he missed a couple games but no reason was given.
Nationals
• Luis García (career .593 OPS vs LHP, .716 OPS vs RHP) stat against a lefty. Check his Friday lineup status to see if a platoon with Michael Chavis has developed.
Padres
• Consistently the same players but in different orders.
Phillies
• Brandon Marsh started against the last two lefty starters.
• Since coming off the IL, Edmundo Sosa (.828 OPS) has started six straight at third base.
Pirates
• Jack Suwinski has started against the last two lefties.
• Rodolfo Castro has solidified himself as the shortstop.
• Ji Hwan Bae (.678 OPS) is losing his grip on the second base job with the 23-year-old Tucupita Marcano (.797 OPS) starting four of last five while hitting first or second in the lineup.
Reds
• TJ Friedl and Jake Fraley only face righties with Stuart Fairchild being one of the replacements against lefties.
• Nick Senzel (.610 OPS, 1 HR, 2 SB) has started 12 of 14 games since coming off the IL.
• The 31-year-old Henry Ramos라모스 (.886 OPS in AAA, .962 in the majors) has started three straight games.
Rockies
• Brenton Doyle (.306/.404/.633 in AAA with 5 HR) has started three straight in center field. He has some major swing-and-miss in his game. Over the past three seasons, he hasn’t posted a sub-30% K% or a sub-16% SwStr%.
• Since taking over at second base, Alan Trejo (.541 OPS) has started eight of nine games.

Baty got his first start vs a lefty against Max Fried tonight. Hopefully Escobar starts platooning with Vogelbach instead of Baty.
Better yet, catapult Vogelbach and Escobar into the sun and give Baty and Alvarez full time ABs.
Vogey is fine as the long side of the platoon at dh now Nido and Escobar being shot into the sun would be fine by me.
