With the season upon us, it is time to drop my final edition of my positional ranks. I will continue to update them live on the Sleeper and the Bust Patreon until the season gets underway and in-season as well.

You can review my ranks for other positions here: https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/category/rankings/

Justin Mason’s Catcher Ranks: 3/29/22
Rank Player Team POS ADP Notes
J.T. Realmuto PHI C 51.69 Only catcher that contributes in all categories.
Salvador Perez KCR C 34.59 I can’t pull the trigger on a 3rd round catcher.
Will Smith LAD C 56.24 Could be in line for more ABs with the DH in the NL.
Yasmani Grandal CHW C 105.14 Grandal is underrated because he missed so much time with injury last season
Willson Contreras CHC C 115.06 About as steady as there is. Runs and RBIs could be better if traded.
Daulton Varsho ARI C/OF 89.55 Love the steals and chance for full time PAs while catcher eligible.
Tyler Stephenson CIN C/1B 149.2 Finally gets the full time role and he could get time at 1B/DH. Breakout potential.
Elias Díaz COL C 231.51 Moved him way up my board because I believe in the second half breakout.
Alejandro Kirk TOR C 251.02 Grichuk’s trade could mean extra ABs.
Keibert Ruiz WAS C 158.22 I love the skills, but am afraid the power won’t be there this year.
Sean Murphy OAK C 251.08 Could be all alone in Oakland.
Adley Rutschman BAL C 213.76 I think he will be good as soon as he arrives.
Carson Kelly ARI C 279.22 Was good until the injuries derailed him.

Mitch Garver TEX C 179.92 Love the talent, but hate the injuries.
Mike Zunino TBR C 274.67 Power is legit, but there is a ton of risk to the swing and miss.
Max Stassi LAA C 303 Love the talent, but hate the injuries.
Christian Vázquez BOS C 219.18 StatCast profile is very scary. No thanks for me.
Yadier Molina STL C 305.47 Molina gets no credit for being about as safe as they come.
Omar Narváez MIL C 264.69 I really expected more power in Milwaukee. 2019 looks like an outlier/rabbit ball.
Travis d’Arnaud ATL C 234.8 I am really worried about his ability to stay healthy.
Joey Bart SF C 309.71 Post-hype sleeper with a chance to fill Posey’s shoes.
Luis Torrens SEA C 382.98 Would love if he got full time ABs at DH.
Jorge Alfaro SDP C/OF 382.84 Hot spring has me excited.
Danny Jansen TOR C 321.18 I think he could be dealt, but I think he is a decent gamble this late either eay.
MJ Melendez KC C 390.29 If he gets run in the outfield, he could be a monster.
Tucker Barnhart DET C 394.31 Love that he is helping the pitchers, don’t really care to draft him.
Eric Haase DET C 325.31 Loses value with Barnhart around and the team getting better.
Austin Nola SDP C 337.73 Can the Padres carry three catchers?
James McCann NYM C 332.24 He can’t be as bad as he was last year, but I don’t think he is good.
Cal Raleigh SEA C 527.04 It could be his time to shine on the upstart Mariners.
Yan Gomes CHC C 368.35 If Castillo is dealt, he would have the #1 role.
Francisco Mejía TBR C 411.84 Former top prospect doesn’t play enough to hit ceiling.
Jacob Stallings PIT C 356.16 Boring, but plays.
Ryan Jeffers MIN C 416.53 I want to believe the bat will get better.
Kyle Higashioka NYY C 495.43 Now a starter
Martín Maldonado HOU C 550.53 Plays a lot, but that may hurt more than help.
Dom Nuñez COL C 591.51 Back in Colorado is as good as anywhere.
Jonah Heim TEX C 513.02 Blocked now that Garver has arrived.
Pedro Severino MLW C 470.16 Not a bad change of scenery, but he’s boring.
Manny Pina ATL C 538.8 Backup to an injury prone guy.
Ben Rortvedt NYY C 750.67 Interest now that he has a path to playing time.
William Contreras ATL C 657.82 Blocked, but has been playing some outfield in spriing.
Zack Collins CHW C 683.55 Can’t seem to give up on Collins. Needs a change of scenery.

Gabriel Moreno TOR C 497.94 Blocked right now.

Not that it matters because yes, he is incredibly boring, but Stallings is on Miami now
