Justin Mason: This also happened to me in a 20 team dyansty league years ago were Gregor Blanco scored four runs on the final day to cost me my championship. It was brutal and I spent years tweeting about it.

Justin Mason: I don’t think he has the type of hit tool that will be good enough to reach the type of player J-Rod is or can be.

Kyle O’Brien: Any concern with McLean’s walk rate over the second half? It’s jumped to nearly 4/9 over the last two months. Is this just fatigue for a young pitcher?

Justin Mason: A little concern. Zone rate is down 3% and the pitches are not as sharp. Stuff is down a little. Might just be fatigue, but something to keep an eye on down the stretch

NicklePickers: Got suckered into holding Heliot Ramos last night after he finally hit a homer. They get a lefty today, but then righties all week. Will I regret this decision or can he break out of the ss platoon situation?

Justin Mason: I have seen in mid august people being pretty confident they are locked in. I’ve also blown massive leads in August and Septmeber, so I play it hard until the final day.

NicklePickers: Strategy question: in an AL Only league with daily moves and a 3 man bench, I have a lineup of mostly regulars. Is it silly to have a bat on the bench for the occasional day off/injury (currently Heliot Ramos) instead of using all 3 slots to spam relievers? My ratios need help.

NicklePickers: I don’t know if it’s the CTE stuff, the state of my Washington Commies, or what, but I’m finding myself less excited about the coming NFL season than usual. Should I quit watching (feels correct ethically) or dive in and let the inevitable NFL current take me away (my usual course)?

Justin Mason: As a Commanders fan, I feel the same way. I will still watch but I dont have the same passion for it that I used to.

seymour114: Shallow Cats league – my opponent’s pitching out classes mine (He has J. Miz, Cease, Yoshi, Snell, McLean among others) but he only runs starters. I can load up on 2-start guys and get 16 starts to his 12 in week 1 (deGrom, Harrison, Seymour, Holmes, Taj, Woo, Burke, plus Schilitter and Gilbert and Mason Miller for the save). Or I could try to run out only Miller, Cade Smith, Schilitter, and Gilbert to get the saves, and great ERA/WHIP then bench them all week 2. I’ve got to try to go for volume, right?

Justin Mason: I would probably go the reliever route and just sweep the ratios and saves.

nrbg27: if bryce miller is indeed back as a starter wednedsay, he may also get two starts next week.  Would you start him over Jacob Lopez and Christian Scott?

seymour114: Had a guy in a cats league go 17-2 in the regular season and then lose in the championship.

Justin Mason: This is the downside to H2H. I was in a home H2H league for years and won six straight season titles and never won a championship in the playoffs. It’s why I play mostly roto nowadays.

nrbg27: Are you starting Elly this week or if he’s not in today’s lineup plug in someone like Willi Castro who has a Coors six pack?

Justin Mason: he has done this already this season and bounced back, so I have some faith he can again. The problem is there isn’t a lot of time to do so in the season, so I dont blame you if you move on.

Justin Mason: I think it is just baseball. The intereting part is the amount that completely busted. A guy like Tucker just disappearing is an aberration imo

Justin Mason: I am starting him. I think they will want to pump his value up as much as possible

Justin Mason: Looked much better in the last start, but not so much before that in spite of the results. I would be open to switching Burke for him

Brablc: Does Leo Bernal have any semi-regular playing time at Catcher for NL Only teams next year? Pretty consistent hitter and defense supposed to be good.

Justin Mason: I think he could but the Cardinals are a little deep at catcher so I almost think they need to move someone like Crooks or Bernal

Ragbrai: Our trade deadline in 11 team 23 man roster NL 5×5 is always the Sunday after MLB’s. Is that too early or about right. After the deadline it is hard to improve your team if someone is a United or sent down. All you can do is sit and watch.

Justin Mason: I think it is too early. I am a fan of having a trade deadline through August to keep people engaged as long as possible especially in a keeper league.

Scotty G: I’m assuming Cleveland should call up Ralphy Velazquez tomorrow, right? Do you see him getting every day ABs?

Justin Mason: I think if he is up, he is playing. I expect him to be called up when the rosters expand.

Robert: Had a deal on the table for James Wood (pre injury) keepable at 19 (with 2 round inflation every year), Yesavage, and Walcott for Miz (1, Schwarber (not keepable), Konnor Griffin (13), Bednar (NK), and one other reliever. Couldn’t pull the trigger because of Wood’s value in the future and our team being easily the best at the time. Guy ends up dealing to the other competitive team. How badly did we screw up (we just got knocked out of the playoffs)
