Daily Fantasy Strategy — May 4 — For Draftstreet

Seriously, Jake Arrieta – fresh off the DL – struck out seven Cardinals over five and a third shutout innings. Yesterday’s stack of Matt Adams, Matt Carpenter, and Allen Craig were supposed to face off against a rusty, not very good Arrieta. They weren’t supposed to run into a buzzsaw.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to put together the chart I normally use for today’s games, so apologies. Phil Hughes is squaring off with the homer happy Baltimore Orioles, so that could get ugly. Despite Jason Vargas‘ success this season, it still feels like the righty-heavy Tigers’ lineup could do some damage today. The Brewers lost Ryan Braun, but their offense should still be able to muster some runs off of Alfredo Simon – seriously, he can’t keep skating by, right?

The Daily Five

Tigers stack

Ian Kinsler – $7,127
Victor Martinez – $6,580
Austin Jackson – $6,376

Betting on platoon splits, and a little regression for Vargas today. Of course, feel free to add Miggy if you’re able to save money elsewhere.

Justin Morneau – $7,686

Morneau has had quite the resurgence this year, and Coors has definitely helped. Gee is solid, but I’m willing to roll Morneau out there versus just about any right handed pitcher right now.

Alex Wood – $16,192

Wood wasn’t sharp his last time out, but his price today makes him a good option, in my opinion. The Giants’ offense has been better this year, but they’re still not too frightening, especially since Sandoval hasn’t gotten going at all.
