Various News and Notes
Edwin Encarnacion was placed on the DL with a hand contusion. E5 underwent an MRI on Saturday, but the results were negative, so he will get some rest as the Indians get ready for the playoffs. He has regressed a bit in the average department, but otherwise has been the usual E5 we have all come to know and love. Hopefully he will return after a short stay.

According to manager Dave Roberts, Ross Stripling and Kenta Maeda have been moved to the bullpen. Maeda is approaching a career high in innings and Stripling has already past his, so it appears that they will try and protect them by changing their roles as Alex Wood and Hyun-Jin Ryu both are ready to return from the disabled list and to the rotation. It would not be surprising to see Walker Buehler moved into the pen as well at some point.

According to Ryan Madson, the struggles he experienced on Sunday were a result of some back pain that was sending shooting pains down his leg. Madson came on in the ninth to try and protect a lead, but then this happened:

Both Andrew Benintendi and Xander Bogaerts missed Sunday’s game with minor injuries. Benintendi is dealing with some “heavy legs” which sounds like what I am dealing with after my move. Bogaerts is dealing with a jammed pinkie, but sounds like will be fine. Both should return on Tuesday.
