10:05

Paul Sporer’s Baseball Chat – February 22nd, 2023

Transcript is live!

1:00

Paul Sporer: Hello everyone!! Thanks for coming out!

1:00

Ryan: Who would you rather have as an SP1, Gausman or Gallen

1:02

Paul Sporer: I have them back-to-back with Gausman on top, but that close you can definitely just take your pick

1:03

Matt: The Dbacks did a lot of platooning at the end of last year. Is that still a concern or does Rojas leaving solve most of that? In a shallow league with weekly locks, would you stay away from Dbacks?

1:03

Paul Sporer: Where did Rojas go? I haven’t seen anything regarding a trade

1:03

Brontarius: Favorite upcoming WBC hat?

Justin Mason’s Baseball Chat – February 20th, 2023

Here is today’s chat transcript.

9:03

Justin Mason: Justin Mason: Will start at the top of the hour and if we have enough questions. In the meantime, please follow me on all my social media’s (twitter, tiktok, facebook, youtube, and instagram) at JustinMasonFWFB! I am doing regular podcasts on the FWFB podcast as well as three episodes a week for the Sleeper and the Bust so definitely make sure you are subscribed there as well!

9:04

Justin Mason: I also have my Beat Justin Mason Online Championship today at 3pm EST and will be streaming it live on my youtube, twitch, and twitter as well as I will have a post for it on FanGraphs!

10:00

Just Wait: In a 5×5 roto, which position(s) would you feel comfortable filling a starter in the last few rounds, and with which player(s)? 1B seems to be very deep

10:02

Justin Mason: I think when we talk about positional scarcity it really depends on how deep of a league we are talking. For instance, SS is loaded, but in a deeper league, it falls off pretty quickly. 1B is is probably the easiest to get later on for sure. I have an article coming out on Fantasy Pros that I finished last night that breaks down my thoughts on each position for shallower and deeper formats.

10:02

BlueJayMatt: 3B is weak this year, outside of the top 6-8 guys – how do you strategize to account for this during the draft?

10:03

Justin Mason: I think it is definitely weaker in the middle than at the top or in the back of the draft, but honestly it is not as bad as second base. I am hoping to leave my draft with an elite guy but if I don’t I have found myself just waiting and taking one of the high upside young guys later like Josh Jung and Jordan Walker.

Paul Sporer’s Baseball Chat – February 15th, 2023

Transcript is available!

1:04

Paul Sporer: Hello everyone, thanks for comin out!

1:05

blerg: You seem pretty high on Jake Freely compared to the consensus. What are you seeing that you like?

1:06

Paul Sporer: I was a big Jake Fraley guy last year and he performed when he played. Injuries were the only issue. So I’m really just doubling down on last year’s love & hoping for some health luck

1:09

Ben: Thoughts on Robbie Ray and Lance Lynn this year?

1:10

Paul Sporer: Got em 43 and 31 ranked, respectively

1:14

Pedro: With the Montas news, what can we expect from Domingo German now that he has a cemented spot in the rotation?

1:00

Paul Sporer: Hello everyone! Hope your Wednesday is going well, let’s talk some baseball!!!

1:02

Definitely Not Nick: Is this the year you draft Kyle Gibson with his new slider

1:02

Paul Sporer: I drafted him last year!! I held on too long and his nightmare September likely cost me 2nd in my Main Event lol

1:02

Paul: Betts at 2b moved him into the top 6 right?

1:04

Paul Sporer: I’m definitely OK taking him that high even as OF only, so yes adding the 2B definitely helps

1:04

Kyle: Birchwood Brothers articles are always so great – glad they are back again this year!

Paul Sporer’s Baseball Chat – February 1st, 2023

Transcript is available!

1:04

Paul Sporer: Hello everyone! Thanks for coming!

1:04

Sabey Sabes: What’s a realistic expectation from Judge this year? Have him as a keeper at #10 overall, but oh the trade options, too.

1:09

Paul Sporer: Something like .285/40/100/100

1:09

Paul Sporer: And that’s conservative, tbh

1:09

Nate: If you can keep either Nate Lowe or Tristan Casas in a 16 teamer…think they’ll be roughly similar this year? And moving forward? Or am I over/underestimating Casas?

1:09

Paul Sporer: Probably overestimating Casas right now. I’m a big Lowe fan so it’s easily him for me
