Bullpen Report: September 12, 2022
The 2022 version of the Bullpen Report includes five different sections, as well as the closer chart, which can be found at the bottom of the page.
We will always include a link to the full Closer Depth Chart at the bottom of the Bullpen Report each day. It’s also accessible from the RosterResource drop-down menu and from any RosterResource page. Please let us know what you think.
- Notable Workloads: Primary closers or valuable members of a closer committee who have been deemed unavailable or likely unavailable for the current day due to recent workload.
- Injury News
- Outlier Saves: Explanation for a non-closer earning a save during the previous day.
- Committee Clarity: Notes on a closer committee that clarify a pitcher’s standing in the group.
- Losing A Grip: Struggling closers who could be on the hot seat.
The “RosterResource” link will take you to the corresponding team’s RosterResource depth chart, which will give you a better picture of the full bullpen and results of the previous six days (pitch count, save, hold, win, loss, blown save).

Notable Workloads
•José Leclerc, TEX: 24 pitches on Monday. | RosterResource
Co-closers Matt Moore and Jonathan Hernández should both be available on Tuesday.
•Camilo Doval, SFG: 22 pitches on Sunday; 10 pitches on Saturday. | RosterResource
John Brebbia has also worked back-to-back days, so if he and Doval are both unavailable, the Giants might have to turn to a middle reliever like Alex Young, Luis Ortiz, or Jarlín García.
Injury News
•Seranthony Domínguez, PHI: Activated from the 15-day IL (triceps tendinitis) on Sunday. | RosterResource
Domínguez’s presence was sorely missed in the Phillies bullpen, with closer David Robertson scuffling recently and perhaps being overworked, and Domínguez can help lighten the load.
Seranthony has been the Phillies’ best reliever this season, with a 1.64 ERA across 44 innings with 54 strikeouts to go along with nine saves.
Outlier Saves
•James Karinchak, CLE | RosterResource
Emmanuel Clase has been worked hard during Cleveland’s recent stretch of excellent play, pitching in three of the four days entering Sunday (the Guardians were off on Thursday). So his top setup man, Karinchak, was given a three-run cushion to hold. The sometimes-erratic righty bent but didn’t break, walking two but striking out three to earn his second save of the season. He’s got a ridiculous 39% strikeout rate.
