Bullpen Report: May 28, 2022
The 2022 version of Bullpen Report includes five different sections, as well as the closer chart, which can be found at the bottom of the page.
We will always include a link to the full Closer Depth Chart at the bottom of the Bullpen Report each day. It’s also accessible from the RosterResource drop-down menu and from any RosterResource page. Please let us know what you think.
- Notable Workloads: Primary closers or valuable members of a closer committee who have been deemed unavailable or likely unavailable for the current day due to recent workload.
- Injury News
- Outlier Saves: Explanation for a non-closer earning a save during the previous day.
- Committee Clarity: Notes on a closer committee that clarify a pitcher’s standing in the group.
- Losing A Grip: Struggling closers who could be on the hot seat.
The “RosterResource” link will take you to the corresponding team’s RosterResource depth chart, which will give you a better picture of the full bullpen and results of the previous six days (pitch count, save, hold, win, loss, blown save).

Notable Workloads
•Clay Holmes, NYY: Three of the last four days; 15 pitches on Friday. | RosterResource
Righties Michael King and Miguel Castro and lefty Wandy Peralta are the top closing options if Holmes is unavailable on Saturday.
•Dany Jiménez, OAK: Three of the last four days; 24 pitches on Friday. | RosterResource
Zach Jackson has also pitched three-of-four days, so his availability on Saturday is questionable. A.J. Puk, Domingo Acevedo and Lou Trivino should all be available, however.
•Craig Kimbrel, LAD: 26 pitches on Friday. | RosterResource
Daniel Hudson, Brusdar Graterol and Alex Vesia should all be available Saturday.

Outlier Saves
•Dennis Santana, TEX | RosterResource
Closer Joe Barlow evidently wasn’t available for a third straight day of work on Friday, so closing duties fell to Dennis Santana (rather than top setup man Matt Bush, which is another level of interesting). Santana had no issue shutting down the A’s, throwing a 1-2-3 inning, with ten of eleven pitches for strikes.
Santana’s been a solid contributor to the Rangers bullpen, allowing only two walks, six hits and three earned runs in 14 innings, which works out to a 1.93 ERA and brilliant 0.57 WHIP.

Robles 15-day DL – Back spasms
I was wondering why they let someone else blow the save yesterday. That’s the Robles Role!
