Outlier Saves
•Will Smith, ATL | RosterResource
Even with the Braves off Thursday, it looks like Friday was just another day off for Kenley Jansen, who pitched Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, shouldering a heavy load. So it was Smith who got the save chance on Friday, working a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts for his second save of the year. He’s transitioned nicely back into a setup role, with a 3.38 ERA in 16 innings, with 14 strikeouts, though he’s walked seven hitters too.
•Robert Suarez, SDP | RosterResource
Closer Taylor Rogers, who’s been brilliant in leading MLB in saves with 15, threw 33 pitches on Thursday, leaving him unavailable on Friday. The Padres first attempted to close things out with Luis García in the ninth, but he gave up two runs to cough up the lead. After the Padres retook the lead with two runs in the tenth, it was Suarez’s turn. He allowed the zombie runner on second to score but nothing else, to earn his first MLB save after picking up 42 last year in NPB.
Suarez has been solid in his first MLB action, with a 3.86 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 16.1 innings.

Seems like pagan over Duran
As a Twins fan, I wouldn’t trust with Pagan with a ten-foot pole. Disaster waiting to happen.
