Notable Workloads
•Jordan Romano, TOR: 24 pitches on Sunday. | RosterResource
Romano’s Monday availability could go either way, but the Jays have generally been pretty careful with him this year. Yimi Garcia, Anthony Bass and Adam Cimber are his top backups; it’s worth noting that Garcia and Bass have both pitched three of the last four days.
•Alexis Díaz, CIN: 25 pitches on Sunday; 21 pitches on Saturday. | RosterResource
Hunter Strickland has also worked back-to-back days, but on a more efficient 30 pitches total. If he’s not available either, it’s really anyone’s guess who gets a save chance Monday. Perhaps Ross Detwiler, who got the save on Sunday, or Buck Farmer, who earned a save last Monday.
•Edwin Díaz, NYM: Three of the last four days; 14 pitches on Sunday. | RosterResource
The Mets may be a little shorthanded in the bullpen on Monday, with Adam Ottavino perhaps down another day after 31 pitches on Saturday and Joely Rodríguez almost certainly out after 30 pitches on Sunday. Mychal Givens and Seth Lugo are the likeliest closers, especially if Ottavino isn’t available either.

Outlier Saves
•Ross Detwiler, CIN | RosterResource
Co-closers Alexis Díaz and Hunter Strickland pitched the eighth and ninth for the Reds, and Strickland blew the save chance in the ninth by giving up a homer to Keston Hiura. Once the Reds retook the lead in the tenth, they needed an outlier closer and the job fell to Detwiler. Detwiler threw ten of 12 pitches for strikes against the top of the Brewers order, striking out two for his second career save and first since 2014. The 36-year-old lefty has been a nice piece for the Reds when healthy, with 20 strikeouts in 18 innings helping him put up a 3.50 ERA.

Jon, I see you’re not making much of Boone’s comments about Chapman pitching the 9th?
