Matt: Brad, your colleague Justin Mason has continued to express concern about Corbin’s velocity in his chat earlier, but since Corbin’s velo dropped in early May, he’s got a 3.50 ERA with a 10.63 K/9 and a 2.84 FIP. Is this really something we should still be worried about?

Brad Johnson: It’s counterintuitive because he whiffs nearly everything, but if he hadn’t adjusted in literally every season of his career, he would have a 90% strikeout rate.

Brad Johnson: Some risk, lots of reward

Brad Johnson: Be careful short term. Bench him if you can afford to (I can’t)

Rocco: Thoughts on Y. Guriel ROS?   Can he be my everday 1B or should I just ride him while hot?

Brad Johnson: So he was showing some signs of a breakout late last year on the power front

Brad Johnson: then he had the injury this spring

Brad Johnson: I forget if it was a thumb or hamate

Brad Johnson: either way, he returned SUPER early

Brad Johnson: So it’s not surprising his power is finally starting to show up

Brad Johnson: I think he can work as an everyday 1B in 12 team or deeper

Matt D: I have to drop Pivetta or Cahill soon when the latter comes off the DL.  Is this a ceiling/floor thing or do you like 1 better ROS?

Brad Johnson: Cahill has had like 4 different injuries in the last calendar year

Noel: Trying to pry Vlad Jr. away from a fringe contender. 15-team AL only and I’m out of it. My big keepers are Bregman, Springer, Ohtani, Archer, M Chapman. Lesser are Buxton -shudders-, F Mejia, Honeywell, T McKenzie. Rest of the roster is basically the whole Astros bullpen and trash. Is there anyone you wouldn’t move in a Vlad Jr. deal? I’m thinking hold Bregman/Ohtani and be open to moving pretty much any combo of the others.

What does this mean? Playing in a keeper league where I won the bid but only way I can afford is by dropping Taylor. Thinking Tucker would be a better trade piece because Taylor rides pine for me now

54: Playing Roto for the 1st time in a million years, (QS instead of Wins) and figured I would max out my 200 GS pace ASAP and then trade/dump all my starters for ratio relievers and saves. WITHOUT ANY CONTEXT, RECKON THIS COULD WORK?

Brad Johnson: So, this is a strategy I think about using all the time

Brad Johnson: Then the draft happens and I find myself holding 4 SP and 5 relievers

Brad Johnson: I find when the format pushes you in this direction, everybody overpays for pitchers early

Brad Johnson: So, I haven’t really tested it often

Brad Johnson: The other thing I’ve discovered over the years is that it’s very hard to sell good, non-elite SP for any kind of return

Brad Johnson: He’s regressed somewhat in recent weeks, and I think that’s a good representation of what to expect going forward
