Brad Johnson: So, over the weekend Chad Young and I threw in the towel on 2017 in our 20-team, 45-player, keep-28 dynasty

Brad Johnson: We are in last place among the 12 or so “contending” rosters. We’ve had terrible luck – Miggy, Donaldson, JDM, Quintana, Aaron Sanchez, Carlos Sanchez, Story, Zobrist, Salazar, Morton, etc

Brad Johnson: Basically, the whole roster except Blackmon and Paxton have performed to their 25th percentile projection or worse

Brad Johnson: should have been a top 3 roster…

Brad Johnson: Anyway, the decision was made to pursue Mookie Betts which predictably cost a fortune

Brad Johnson: We traded Archer, Quintana, Donaldson, Bush, Doobie Herrera, and A.J. Ramos for Betts, Smoak, Godley, Ryu, Davidson, and Sogard

Brad Johnson: Admittedly, getting Godley was a sneaky throw-in. We think he has a shot to be the best pitcher in the deal.

Brad Johnson: Then we traded Miggy, C. Santana, and K. Herrera for Rizzo, Alex Kirilloff, and Kevin Merrell

Brad Johnson: Then Mike Leake and Nick Markakis for Chris Taylor and Jesus Sanchez

Brad Johnson: Long story short(ish), we’re low on pitchers.

Brad Johnson: And now…

fake newss: Thoughts on red hot, 27 year old, 2B/LF, SD Padre, Jose Pirela? Obviously not a sustainable .647 BABIP, but can he be a full time MLB player now? His super small sample contact quality is off the charts. 106.1 MPH avg EV on ground balls, 103.6 MPH avg EV on Low Drives, 105.7 MPH avg EV on High Drives, and 96.6 MPH avg EV on Fly Balls, and 0 popups. Numbers elevated immensely over previous seasons. K% only slightly elevated from previous MLB stint.

Brad Johnson: Pirela looks like he could be a legit breakout. I wouldn’t pay a ton for him, but if the only cost is a waiver add, go get him.

Brad Johnson: He’s a guy I’m trying to get right now in that dynasty league

Sim: Mccullers is at 70ish IP so far and all of last year he did 90ish. Do you see them capping him later in the season?

Brad Johnson: They’re pretty careful with him start-to-start

Brad Johnson: I think he gets to pitch whenever he’s healthy

Brad Johnson: Dangerous. He’s been so bad lately, looks like maybe he’s lost feel for his mechanics

Don: Is Procello droppable in a 10 team roto? I just dropped Lackey

Brad Johnson: Yea, probably. That can be a very shallow format, just depends how your leaguemates manage their bench

Hannah Hochevar: See anything in Alex Meyer? K’s and walks, but not horrible vs. that Yankees line-up yesterday. Velocity up slightly…

Brad Johnson: He throws hard, tosses 30+% curves, and has crappy command

Brad Johnson: He’s pretty bad

Brad Johnson: FanGraphs folks like him because he’s thoughtful about pitching

Brad Johnson: But command is a constant issue for him

Scuba Steve: Would you drop Harvey for Godley in a keeper league?

Brad Johnson: Yes

Oh! Canada: Toronto’s pitching.How do you see Aaron Sanchez’s performance when he returns,? What will be Biagini’s role with the regular SP’s back??

Brad Johnson: I think Biagini stays in the rotation unless they’re managing his innings

Brad Johnson: He’s good enough to start

Rico: Obligatory Judge question….every keeps saying his pace is unsustainable…..but what if its not? It’s mid June and he hasn’t slowed down yet….

Brad Johnson: I mean, there will be some regression. A slump even. But he’s damned good

Brad Johnson: he’s a legit Giancarlo clone

I’m trying to structure a deal to send my Daniel Murphy for Syndergaard, whose owner is still competing. Is that deal fair alone, or should I be throwing in add’l player(s) to account for Thor’s long-term upside?

Brad Johnson: HR barrage aside, he’s not that powerful

Brad Johnson: he’s more a 20-25 HR guy

Brad Johnson: I like him in AL only. Kind of a second division starter in my opinion

Taylor: Who would you rather have for this year: Joe Ross, Newcomb, Faria, or Farmer?

Dingo Dan Dan: Mid-Season one Round Draft, Keeper League (no F/A moves allowed otherwise): Smoak, Alonso, ALtherr, M. Reynolds, Jimmy Nelson, Chase Anderson, Tim Beckham, LOMO. Who helps most ROS and who is best keeper in 25 man keeper format (with 25 round draft every year in dynasty)

Brad Johnson: Ooh tricky. Alonso is the best right now, closely followed by LoMo. Smoak seems good too, but there are some red flags

Brad Johnson: They’re all pretty old though

Brad Johnson: Altherr may be the better long term bet.

Brad Johnson: And see how Jimmy Nelson pitches today. He could be en route to a big season

Brad Johnson: This isn’t a keeper? I’m hesitant to bet heavily on a busted hand. Even if it’s Mike Trout.

Tim: So, Nats bullpen. What’s a fantasy player to do? Avoid that dumpster fire altogether for the time being?

Professor Donaldson: What are your thoughts on owning too many guys from 1 team? I’m desperate for speed and want to get Delino, but already have Odor/Mazara and feel like owning 3 Rangers is too much.

Brad Johnson: Nothing wrong with it in roto

Brad Johnson: you just want the end of season stats. You’ll have a lot of week to week volatility, but it washes out in the end

Moltar: At this point, can we safely say that Vargas is a solid back-end fantasy rotation piece? Or do you still think he’ll turn back in to a pumpkin?

Brad Johnson: No, he’s solid now

Matt: Cameron Maybin’s been a revelation this year in my OBP league and he’s running like crazy! Aside from the occasional DL stint, do you think he can keep this up? His OBP’s over .380 since the start of last season.

Brad Johnson: Not at this rate, but he’s a solid asset

Mason: Brad, should i trade Albies and De Leon for Brinson in dynasty league? I could then add Didi off waivers for a 2nd SS

Brad Johnson: Seems fine to me, but also not necessary

Brad Johnson: they’re all high risk/reward

Tell me a Story: Story’s been awful. Should I zig and inquire on him as a really buy-low in a 20-team dynasty? I brought him up in trade talks with his owner preseason, and he was priced out of what I wanted to spend.

Brad Johnson: He won’t be available cheaply in 20-team dynasty
