Brad Johnson: The short version – best case scenario is he’s something like peak Ross. And I don’t think peak Ross plays well in the 2018 run environment

Brad Johnson: He was a minus fastball, plus slider guy. Back then, it was just Ross and a handful of relievers who threw a billion sliders

John Olerud: Not naming names, but some “experts” in other venues have started to suggest dropping Michael Fulmer for the some of the latest SSS phenoms, including Lucchesi. Seems a bit short-sighted, no? I mean, I understand Fulmer’s K limitations and the potential lack of wins on a bad team. But still, he’s only 25, has been very successful for a good chunk of innings, and still seems to have some untapped upside. Buy low opportunity?

Brad Johnson: I wouldn’t.

Slamboni: 10 tm AL only roto. With Bird out, my starting 1B is Danny Valencia. Should I trade Faria for Hanley? I believe Hanley only needs 1 more start to be 1B eligibile

Brad Johnson: Valencia should play regularly for the next week. That said, Faria for Hanley seems like a fine valuation

Andy: is matt chapman’s start creating a believers/nonbelievers line in the sand? what say you?

Brad Johnson: I believe, with the caveat that there’s some impending regression. He’s made some real improvements though.

Big Tuna: I slipped into 10th place in my roto league after slow starts from my top guys (Altuve, Trea, Cruz, Donaldson). How long until my freakout about my standing is actually justifiable?

Brad Johnson: I’m in 10th in one league with Altuve, McCullers, and a few others.

Brad Johnson: People worry about the standings WAY too early. It’s great to have an early lead, but you can make up a lot of ground in the middle months when everybody gets lazy

Real baseball talk: A quick break from fantasy chatter, who should be worried more based on their slow starts?  Cub fans, or Dodger fans??

Brad Johnson: Perhaps consider targeting a less elite alternative to Stanton

SF outfield: Duggar or Williamson?  Who gets the call to help their weak hitting outfield?

Brad Johnson: Both, eventually. I have no feel for their team. I basically ignore all hitters in San Fran because of the park. I’ll pick ’em up at Coors

John Olerud: So, you’re ok with dropping a Fulmer in 10-team for the likes of, say, Lucchesi, Pivetta, Folty, R. Lopez, etc? If so, please explain why if you can, and maybe which SPs you’d be okay dropping him for. I’m truly interested to understand the rationale. I mean, Fulmer has been pretty darn good for two MLB seasons now while Lucchesi, for example, has a third of a double-A season and only four MLB starts (albeit three of them impressive)  under his belt, with a #4 or 5 projection by most scouts from what I can tell. Again, I’m just curious to know the  thinking here.
