Average Draft Position Now on the Site!
Big news, ladies and gentlemen: you can now find average draft position data provided by FanTrax on both our Auction Calculator and Projection sites.
AUCTION CALCULATOR (click to go to it)
After you input your desired settings and generate projections, you will see ADP listed right next to the player’s position:
PROJECTIONS
Click Projections in the header bar at the top of any page:
Click on your preferred system and you’ll find ADP listed in the final column on the far right:
There you go! I’m really excited about this addition to the site and want to thank Tim over at Fantrax.com for reaching out and helping us implement the feature.
Semi-related, we’re looking to get SV+HD as a category on the auction calculator. We’ve heard your questions on that and it’s being looked at. Stay tuned!
Is there a way to get a SD of ADP or do folks have a way they estimate it beyond min/max pick?
From what I understand, NFBC and STATS don’t make super-granular data available yet. I’ve been trying to track it, but since the drafts aren’t evenly spaced out, you couldn’t even use ADP over time to back out an SD.
What I’ve done in the past is assume that min/max is equal to 1.65 standard deviations (95% confidence interval). Based on this assumption, I can generate the probabilities that a given player will still be available at my next pick in the draft.
Curious to get feedback on that approach…
I believe this is in the realm of what Jeff wrote here: http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/adp-availability-workbook/
@sabrtooth: FWIW, I don’t know if there will ever be super-granular NFBC data. Greg Ambrosius told me they don’t even store their data, which is heartbreaking. Maybe one day, but it doesn’t seem like a priority.
Edit: I just saw a commenter below say it’s NFBC’s last year with STATS. So that’s promising!
