Roto Riteup: June 26, 2015

Today’s Roto Riteup was written while the film Whiplash played in the background. And by that I mean I procrastinated writing this and watched Whiplash, as it was my favorite film of 2014.

On today’s agenda:
1. Welcome to The Show, Steven Matz
2. Dustin Pedroia to the disabled list
3. Buying Adam Eaton
4. Streaming Pitching Options

Roto Riteup: June 25, 2015

Today’s Roto Riteup is being written right after my confidence was shattered after attempting one of the archived New York Times’ crosswords. Once the timer got to 20 minutes, I paused it out of shame. How some have finished these puzzles in three minutes is beyond me.

On today’s agenda:
1. Quick thoughts on Marco Estrada
2. Brett Lawrie is raking
3. Streaming Pitching Options

American League Outfielders: One-Year Splits

In my younger (read: teenage angst years), one of my favorite up-and-coming bands was a little known group out of Reno, Nevada called This Calendar Year. While the band never gained much notoriety, despite a couple solid tracks (warning: they’re a bit loud), the name always stuck with me. Today for the American League outfield beat, we’ll be looking at two names that could surprise you with their strong numbers since this time last year (minimum 450 plate appearances).

Another Roto Riteup, another new Spiderman. I still wish Donald Glover would have been given the nod, but Tom Holland received the honor. I guess I’ll have to settle for Glover to be in The Martian, a film I am very much looking forward to after reading the book.

On today’s agenda:
1. Luis Valbuena continues to slug
2. Bad news for Freddie Freeman
3. Streaming Pitching Options

Yesterday the USWNT advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Cup, however it was a pretty narrow 2-0 win. The team will be without Rapinoe and Holiday in the game against China, so the US has their work cut out for them.

On today’s agenda:
1. I still like Steven Souza
2. Jered Weaver injury update
3. Ivan Nova returns tomorrow
4. Streaming Pitching Options

Roto Riteup: June 22, 2015

As Mr. Sanders was traveling yesterday, he bribed me with some peanut butter M&M’s to take today’s Roto Riteup. Obviously the PB kind are the best M&M’s; they’re easy 6.0 candy above replacement. For what it’s worth, I think Pez are replacement level candy.

On today’s agenda:
1. Buying Jose Quintana
2. Marlon Byrd’s Power
3. Streaming Pitching Options

Both the USWNT and South Korea advance to the knockout stage of the World Cup! I’m sure you’re all as thrilled about this as I am.

On today’s agenda:
1. Let’s talk about Billy Burns
2. Matt Moore continues rehabbing
3. I still like Mike Foltynewicz
4. Streaming Pitching Options

The 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo is in full swing! Already the new Star Wars: Battlefront game has been shown and my hype train for it is now boarding. I’m worried that it’s only 20 versus 20 and a lack of space battles will make the game feel more cramped than previous versions, but with a decent number of vehicles and loadouts, it is nice to see the developers haven’t completely abandoned what made previous SW: Battlefront games so strong.

On today’s agenda:
1. Kyle Schwarber gets promoted
2. Wei-Yin Chen continues to roll
3. Streaming Pitching Options

Roto Riteup: June 12, 2015

The showdown between the No. 2 ranked USWNT and the No. 5 ranked Swedish side takes place tonight at 8 pm eastern. I’m hopeful to see another US victory, but the Swedish attack looked very strong in their opening match and the US defense was shaky at times.

On today’s agenda:
1. Adam Lind is still hitting, still available
2. Eugenio Suarez gets the call
3. Mat Latos returns tomorrow
4. Streaming Pitching Options
