Stanton pops his 30th HR:

It might finally be happening! The super elite Stanton season might finally be upon us!!! Stanton is just 10 homers away from his first 40 HR season and the way he’s smashing homers of late (9 in 15 July games), he could drop a 50 burger on the league. I’ll say he hits 52.

Bryce Harper smacked a homer in top of the 1st on Tuesday night and Mike Trout responded immediately:

Harper went on to have a 4-for-4 game in Washington’s 4-3 win. Trout gets a chance at the Nats againt today in short two-game set.

Checking in on Bold Predictions

I posted my Bold Predictions back on April 3rd and with many of my colleagues checking in on theirs, I decided to give it a go as well and see where I stand with my 10 predictions.

JAMES PAXTON IS A TOP-15 ARM.

The injury hurt, but this one is still very much in play. He ranks 26th on ESPN’s Player Rater with a 3.19 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 28% K, and 8% BB in 87.3 IP. Obviously to be a full on win, he needs to get up into the top 15, but if he finishes anywhere in the top 25 or so, I’ll feel good about this one.

He was being taken as the 39th starter on average in NFBC leagues so he wasn’t completely off the radar by any means, but I definitely feel like I was one of the highest on a Paxton breakout. I was concerned in his first few starts off the DL, but he’s looked really sharp since I posted that piece with a 3.13 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 38 Ks in 31.7 IP.

KEVIN GAUSMAN STRIKES OUT 200 BATTERS.

Jackie Bradley Jr. made a fantastic catch in the triangle to rob Aaron Judge of his 31st homer run. Judge was 1-for-9 in the doubleheader and he’s just 1-for-18 coming out of the break. Guess the Home Run Derby ruined him after all. ?
