MASH Report (3/18/13)

I have not had time to go through all the fastball speeds and won’t until I get back from Arizona. Just player and DL updates today and hopefully I can get a full report out later in the week.

Recent injury data

 • Mark Teixeira could need season ending wrist surgery with the best case scenario seeing him ready after May. I would not plan on any production from him this season and draft/bid accordingly.

 • Albert Pujols is now running the bases. This injury concerns me a bit. I guess he will play through the injury if it is not 100% by opening day. He may miss a few days here and there and see a loss in production. Adjust expectations accordingly.

 • David Wright will like miss opening day with a intercostal strain. Daniel Murphy experienced the same injury in mid-Febuary and is now running the bases. He has yet to swing a bat.

 • Roy Halladay claims he is not hurt according to the team’s website

Halladay struggled mightily in 2 2/3 innings Tuesday. He said he was lethargic because of a more intense workout routine and throwing two bullpen sessions before that start. Both Halladay and Dubee have said there are no health issues.

 • For the past week, Zack Greinke has been dealing with shoulder soreness. He threw 40 pitches on Sunday. He is iffy for opening day.

 • Wade Miley is dealing with a case of the dead arm.

 • Casey Kelly, the 89th ranked prospect in baseball, will need Tommy John surgery.

 • Fernando Rodriguez is another player looking at needing Tommy John surgery.

 • And Frank Herrmann needs TJS also.

A bunch of teams are reporting some players will likely start the season on the DL.

 • Nick Markakis with a neck tear.

 • Cody Ross with a left calf strain.

 • John Danks with a shoulder injury.

 • Stephen Drew with a concussion.

 • Franklin Morales with a bulging disk in his back.
