2020 Third Base Rankings
OK, I thought shortstop was the deepest position this year, but I thiiink I’m anointing third base even deeper. Keep in mind that my main league focus is a 15-team mixer so I see someone like Solak down at 39 (11 games at 3B) and get pretty excited about it. For me, when a position is remarkably deep, I don’t necessarily let it sit and just take someone later but rather I’m more apt to dive in and leverage that depth for multiple positions. I could see myself getting 3B, CI, and UT out of this pool.
If you want to check out my list from September with some commentary on the Top 30, you can still find that here.
Let me know what you think in the comments!
UPDATE: Frazier & Camargo added

Camargo and Frazier added, sorry for the misses.
Where would Segura fit in, since it looks like he’ll have 3B eligibility pretty soon into the season based on Spring Training?
Think Sano at 21 is the most likely to jump a tier.
Camargo not even making this list? Did you forget about him?
I did forget, it was an accident
Where would you slot Todd Frazier, now that he appears to have a clear path to a full-time gig?
Dangit forgot him, too… this is what I get for doing the list super late at night. Forgot him and Camargo
Carter Kieboom too possibly?
He doesn’t have eligibility yet, though, right?
I can keep JRam as a 5th rounder or Devers as a 6th rounder, who you keeping? I’m leaning JRam for the SBs
I like your list! Can’t see many significant disagreements w/ my personal rankings.
Still don’t know what to make of Kris Bryant. In ’16/’17 he hit like a perennial 1st round fantasy pick, but in ’18/’19 he took noticeable steps back, both in actual rate stats and X-rate stats. The plate discipline remains pretty strong, but for some reason it’s been just “OK” results when he puts the bat on the ball. Sometimes I can come up w/ a hypothesis, but I’m totally in the dark on KB.
The Donaldson ranking indicates a very low confidence in his availability to play all year. A season of full health from him like 2019 would place him at the top of the 2nd tier.
Jose Ramirez feels like people won’t be all in on him either, and you can get him for a bargain.
maybe my favorite guy to bounce back into first round status
The draft I did a couple weeks ago in my 10 team H2H league, he was taken in the second round. ADP and general consensus seems to be that the fantasy community realizes he is a beast again
GOsh, whatever happened to M Andujar? Do we think 2018 was just a fluke? Might be the steal of a draft.
AB’s will likely be there, but it will be interesting to see where he plays. He’s only UTIL-eligible in Yahoo leagues right now.
where would todd Frazier fit on this list?
Can’t wait to see where Max Muncy rates on Paul’s relief pitcher list! Third tier, or higher??
Only behind Hader
Joey Wendle over Longo. I get it, but still wow. Longoria had one of the sharper declines I’ve seen that wasn’t primarily caused by injury.
When I see where Several guys on this list are ranked I initially think It’s to low. Then I read the names above and I think 🤔 I guess it’s right. Third is very deep this year.
The NATS go from Rendon to a dreadful situation. It is nice you rank Starlin 38th in a 30 team league, but Sadly I’m expecting the under!
Here’s what every Pirates fan is wishing for – with a truncated season, the rules on 1st year service time are waived and Ke’Bryan Hayes can start on Opening Day with no effect on years of team control. That Column Moran is 55th on this list says it all. That’s all 29 other teams starters AND 25 of their backups rated higher than who the Bucs have penciled in to start.
I feel like Chapman and moustakas especially are pretty criminally underrated here
Brewers have the 2nd worst and 4th worst lol
I’m interested why Chapman falls outside the top 10 — is it the CT rate and lack of SBs. Everything else seems to be on a slow rise entering his age 27 season no? I guess one could argue his slight FB tilt is the difference between homers and average as he’s likely to approach 40. Do we believe LeMahieu that much? Devers?
Why the hate for Diaz? He was top 10 in barrel rate for 3B, xWOBA, and xBA. There is playing time risk but that doesn’t explain why he’s ranked below guys like Van Meter and Wendle. To me he is a very similar player to JD Davis
Kris Bryant will remember this probably
You think Bregman is that good without sign stealing? Please.
Why are you downvoting this? Do you people seriously think he’s the #3 fantasy 3B without signstealing? How? Why? Astros fans deluding themselves is one thing, but this if FG/RG, you should be intelligent enough to know he’s not that good any more.
It’s deep, but a lot of that is because of players who are eligible at shallower positions, and most leagues are 20+ games only. 4 of the top 12 will likely fill other positions slots, as will 5 of the second 12. The depth is somewhat illusory.
