Your Invitation to Make Six Picks
Most of the Ottoneu coverage in this space is dedicated to your standard, 12-team leagues, whether they are head-to-head or season-long. We occasionally dabble in Ottoneu Prestige League, as well. But I don’t know that we have ever covered Ottoneu’s third baseball game – Six Picks. Today, that changes.
Six Picks is a free, daily fantasy game where you get to make (you guessed it) six picks. On a $120 budget, with prices set based on market prices for players, you get a catcher, a corner infielder, a middle infielder, an outfielder, a starting pitcher, and a relief pitcher, all of whom earn points based on a modified FanGraphs Points scoring system. The modification is that SP points are cut in half, which brings them in line with the other positions and prevents them from swamping the scoring.
At its simplest, that’s all you need to know about Six Picks. Go in, pick your team, see how you do. But there are some fun features beyond the game itself.
Six Picks has achievements you can earn for everything from scoring the most in a day to scoring the least in a day. The simplest way to earn an achievement? You get the “Welcome to the Show” achievement for making your first entry.
Six Picks has groups and friends. The latter lets you follow other individuals and keep track of their performance. The former allows you to create groups that have their own leaderboards – almost like creating a league for tracking daily Six Picks performance.
Six Picks has a research page that allows you to track the price and usage of a specific player. For example, below is the research results for Logan O’Hoppe, whose impressive performance so far has resulted in a price increase as more managers pick him more often.
The great thing about Six Picks is that it takes just a few minutes and while there are achievements for consecutive entries, there is no reason you can’t enter when you want, skip when you want, and enjoy this little fantasy baseball snack when you have time without stressing about it.
Tomorrow I’ll be back with some notes on how I play Six Picks, including some suggested strategies. In the meantime, check it out and see how you do!

Looks fun! But, stupid me, how do you access the league from the home page? Or do we always have to use your link above to make picks? Thanks!
