Third Base ADP Market Report: 1/31/2026

As we hit the beginning of draft season, it is important to monitor where players are being drafted on a regular basis. Throughout draft season, I will be doing that work for you with regular updates on the Average Draft Position on NFBC up until Opening Day. You can read all the Market Reports here.

Top 200 Players Falling

Eugenio Suárez (-15.03) – This fall for Suarez will be short-lived now that he has signed in Cincinnati. He is coming off of a fantastic season where he hit 49 home runs and drove in 118 RBI. He did hit just .228 but his BABIP was .243 which is well below his career mark of .296 he did have BABIPs above .300 the previous three seasons. A lot of the problems came after his trade to Seattle where he really struggled with consistent contact. Moving to Cincinnati will be a much better park for him, but there will be ups and downs that you will go through with him throughout the season.

Top 300 Players Rising

Munetaka Murakami (+18.47) – Murakami is rising after signing a deal to play for the White Sox.  There were reports that came out during his posting that teams had concerns about his ability to hit velocity and his defense. That being said, there is immense power potential and in Chicago, he won’t have to worry about playing time if he does initially struggle. There is some risk here with the batting average, but at this price, he is worth the gamble.

Top 300 Players Falling

Addison Barger (-38.04) – It is a little surprising to see Barger falling here. It may have to do with the signing of Okamoto to play third. Barger will be on a strong side of a platoon in right field instead. The underlying power numbers for Barger are great. He had an 11% barrel rate, a 91.7 mph average exit velocity, a 116.5 mph max exit velocity and a 51% hard hit percentage. He made league average zone contact and has decent plate discipline. There is a lot of upside in the bat in spite of platooning.

Matt Shaw (-38.04) – Shaw is dropping after the signing of Alex Bregman. With Bregman in tow, Shaw will likely head to the bench or back to AAA. There have been rumors that the Cubs could move Nico Hoerner in a trade which would open up second base for Shaw. Shaw had an up and down rookie season, hitting .226/.295/.394 with 13 home runs and 17 stolen bases. He was better in the second half, improving his Z-Contact, barrel percentage and hard hit percentage. He isn’t going to be a superstar, but he could be a five category contributor if the Cubs open up a path to playing time.

Mark Vientos (-32.74) – Vientos is dropping after the signing of Bo Bichette to play third which likely sends Vientos to the bench in a short side platoon role in New York. Vientos struggled last season, hitting 17 home runs with a .233/.289/.413 in 463 plate appearances. The underlying power numbers have always been good, but the contact skills are terrible. He was better versus lefties so a platoon makes sense, but there aren’t many leagues where a short side platoon hitter is worth rostering so he will need an injury to have value.

Others of Note

Willi Castro (+52.08) – Castro is rising after signing in Colorado. He will finally be a full time player after years of being a super utility guy in Minnesota. There isn’t a ton of upside in the bat outside of being an accumulator, but he has a 33 stolen base season in 2023 and if the Rockies let him run, he could be a cheap source of steals as long as he doesn’t rise much more.

Nolan Gorman (+55.89) – Gorman is rising after the trades of Brendan Donovan and  Nolan Arenado means he will play full time in the Cardinals infield. Gorman is a former top prospect with a good amount of power, but he struggles to make consistent contact. He has yet to post a zone contact above 80% and his swinging strike rate has never been lower than 14.5%. There will be struggles until he improves the hit tool and there is no reason to think he will at this point.
