1. The Daily Grind Invitational and Leaderboard

Congrats to kekeisen for his victory on Saturday. He wasn’t the only guy to use Kershaw or the Rangers stack, but he was the only one to use them in combination. Here’s the updated leaderboard which almost makes me look like I’m doing well (don’t be fooled, I’m in the red).

We’re on FanDuel tonight for a $2, 20-team affair. See you there.

2. Daily DFS

All 13 games are this evening. Jon Lester has the dream matchup against the Padres. Other aces include Stephen Strasburg, Jose Fernandez, and Corey Kluber. They’re appropriately pricey. Felix Hernandez is still ace-priced too. Don’t jump on that horse.

Second tier options include Steven Matz and Sonny Gray. Matz is running hot, but he has a tough matchup against the Dodgers. Gray’s been cold the last two times out, making him a sneaky fade against an able Red Sox offense.

For those digging in the bargain bin, Aaron Sanchez stands out in a visit to the National League. The righty will pitch at super pitcher friendly AT&T Park. The Giants have the 10th best offense against right-handed pitching, making this a rather neutral matchup.

Your stacking options are…myriad.

Stack Targets: Tyler Wilson, Chris Young, Wily Peralta, Jon Niese, Archie Bradley, Jake Peavy, Ivan Nova, Dan Straily, Miguel Gonzalez, Cesar Vargas, Anibal Sanchez, Tyler Chatwood, Colby Lewis, Mike Fiers, Clay Buchholz, Scott Kazmir

3. SaberSim Observations

SaberSim likes JoFery more than Lester, Strasburg, and Kluber. Fernandez has the highest innings projection of the day, but that doesn’t smell right at all based on the early season results. The projections also favor Kazmir, Jose Berrios, and Matt Moore. I can find plenty of reasons to steer clear of them all. I’m definitely using one of the aces.

There is no shortage of stacks tonight. The biggest including the Diamondbacks, Rockies, Cubs, and Yankees. I’d maybe let others play with that last one.

4. Tomorrow’s Targets

Pitchers to Start: If you’re not going to use J.A. Happ when he’s visiting AT&T Park, you’re not going to use him anywhere. While that’s a perfectly acceptable answer to the question “will you use Happ,” he’s in line for an easy win opposite Matt Cain. Even if Happ is just ok – six innings, three runs, and three strikeouts, he’ll probably return positive value.

Also consider: Adam Conley, Kevin Gausman, Chris Devenski

Pitchers to Exploit: The Rays are a sneakily lefty-mashing offense. So when Wade Miley hosts the Rays at Safeco Field, it’s a good day to tease out a few free hitters. Miley has pronounced platoon splits over his career including a .343 wOBA this season.

Also consider: Kris Medlen, Michael Fulmer, Sean Manaea, Sean O’Sullivan, Adam Morgan, Matt Wisler, Alfredo Simon, Juan Nicasio, Zach Davies, Derek Holland, Colin Rea, Phil Hughes, Trevor Bauer, Rubby de la Rosa, Chris Rusin, Mike Leake, Alex Wood

Hitters (power): Alfredo Simon is an unmitigated disaster this year, one the Reds are doing absolutely nothing to fix. It’s a fantastic day to pluck leadoff man John Jaso off the waiver wire. Multiple hits, walks, runs, and even home runs are in play tomorrow.

Also consider: Michael Saunders, Brandon Guyer, Steve Pearce, Daniel Nava, Brandon Drury, Ben Paulsen, Melky Cabrera, Avisail Garcia, Derek Dietrich, David Freese, Jeff Francoeur, Ryan Howard, Jed Lowrie, Khris Davis, Chris Coghlan, Stephen Vogt, Danny Valencia

Hitters (speed): Joe Panik is back in action reducing Kelby Tomlinson to spot starter duty. Panik may be given a day of rest with a lefty on the bump. Tomlinson was running wild during his brief stint replacing Panik. He even has a hint of power versus lefties.

Also consider: Joey Rickard, Jonathan Villar, Cesar Hernandez

5. The Factor Grid

The table below indicates which stadiums have the best conditions for hitters today. The color coding is a classic stoplight where green equals go for hitters. The weather conditions are from SI Weather’s home run app. A 10/10 means great atmospheric conditions for home runs. A 1/10 means lousy atmospheric conditions.

I have no idea what to make of Matt Wisler…i’m uninspired but he seems at least deep league worthy. What do you think about him in general? Does he have any fans?

Also what do you think of Wisler in relation to other dudes like Devenski, Rea, Tropeano, Adam Morgan, Jon Gray, Straily, Medlen, Davies and Nova?

They’re all just match-ups guys, right? No one stands out in the pack of mediocrity?
