2013 AL Outfield Tiered Rankings: Preseason

As fantasy drafts are being planned, or are already wrapped up, the time is now to consider who to grab or who to trade for. The outfield position has long been a place to go to for all things fantasy relevant, as there is no shortage of both counting stats and rate stats to be found there. Here you will find rankings for the American League outfield, so no Ryan Braun here. The tiers and the rankings within each tier are my own opinion on what will take place for the 2013 season. Catchers: Tiered Rankings

By now you’ve had the chance to take a look at the catcher rankings done by our esteemed RotoGraphs panel, digest the information, set up your draft day depth charts and maybe toss out a snarky comment or two. It’s time now to start grouping these guys into tiers so that you can see who might be a comparable pick-up should you miss out on your originally intended target. Post-Hype Sleeper, Wilmer Flores

What exactly it a post hype sleeper? If there is a standard definition, I don’t know it. To me, a post hype sleeper is a player who was once highly regarded, tapered off, and then bounced back. In some leagues, deeper draft leagues for instance, one expects a post hype sleeper to be taken. To obtain him will likely take a trade and he is never the centerpiece. If you ask a competitor for a single prospect they’ll quickly be aware something is up. In shallow formats I’m a big fan of packaging my elite prospects for good young major leaguers. In leagues where you are allotted a certain amount of minor leaguers, the elite prospects are taken but post hype sleepers may have been dropped. On to a name worth targeting… Read the rest of this entry »

Catcher Tier Rankings Update — August 2012

Not sure if the other writers are updating the tiers for their positions, but there seems to be enough significant movement among the catchers, that I though a post with an updated set of tiers was worthwhile.  Taking into consideration past performance, ROS expectations and even a bit of keeper value, here’s a look at how the catching tiers look for the month of August and possibly even the remainder of the season.
