Sunday Night Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat

7:30
Jeff Zimmerman: Welcome.

7:31
Jeff Zimmerman: Here are the bids from the two 15-team mixed Tout Wars teams. One league looks to have taken the night off

7:31
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:32
Fraley?: Now he’s reportedly coming back to play hurt and get surgery after the season.  How seriously should I take this and would he slot in ahead of dudes like Stone Garrett for HR/SB upside or Joc P the OBP/HR platoon assassin?

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d stay away. I bet he’s worried about losing his job.

7:32
Just how Littell?: You giving up Cobb for Littell?
Also, short bench… are you hanging onto Franco for now?

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe another week on Franco but I’d drop him

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: At this point, only matchups count so I could see dropping Cobb for Littell

7:33
Thario-no?: Keep or drop with 6 weeks left in obp roto? Hit in the hand…supposedly fine but hit in the hand and no x-ray yet

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m keeping but may reget it.

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d hold for a week.

7:34
Guest: Ragans vs silseth ROS?

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: I think Silseth on the hope for a Win or two more.

7:35
Ben: Where would Bryan Woo and Cristpoher Sanchez rank in your waiver wire pitchers? Would they be above Littell?

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes.

7:35
Mike: Tork wasn’t in your morning waiver wire report.  Where do you place him relative to Carpenter, Gelof, Winn, etc.

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s way above them IMO.

7:35
2024: Saw you prefer Marte to Winn ROS.  What about for 2024 and beyond?  Thx in advance.

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: I have no clue how they’ll age. I assume no aging and would go with Marte.

7:36
JW: Who so you like more at C ROS? K Ruiz or Y Diaz? 12tm 5×5 redraft

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: Ruiz

7:36
Rocky Top: The BATX seems pretty high on Brendan Rodgers – how would you rank Tovar, Blackmon, Rodgers ros?

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: They are close so in a roto, focus on the categories you need.

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: Points wise … Blackmon if he continues to lead off

7:37
Dan: Any thoughts on who’ll replace Gonsolin in the LAD rotation?
Pepiot? Yarbrough? I’m looking for back of the rotation help for the playoffs. Thanks, Jeff.

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: Let me get the quote …

7:38
Jeff Zimmerman: Consider it an opportunity missed. Another is already here. Pepiot was the 27th man for Saturday’s doubleheader but very well could be sticking around. Tony Gonsolin’s season is likely over. Roberts pointed to Pepiot, along with Stone and Ryan Yarbrough, as one of the prime candidates to fill that rotation spot. Pepiot is healthy and threw the ball well Saturday following opener Caleb Ferguson, showing some of the refinement that made his spring so intriguing. He went five innings of one-run ball, striking out five and notably walking just one over a tidy 75 pitches while showing another sign of growth — a real feel for a third pitch, a consistent slider that catcher Austin Barnes said was his best pitch of the afternoon.

Pepiot, Roberts said, looked “completely different” than he did a year ago, when he had a 3.47 ERA in nine outings but clearly struggled with efficiency and command.

7:39
7:39
Lance: Would u hold onto Story for ROS?

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably

7:39
Big J: Would you rather roll with Clevinger or Blackburn for this week in a 12tm H2h pts league?

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: They both have good projections if they make both starts

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go with Blackburn since he has the Mon-Sat combo and Clevinger needs have nothing go wrong to make his Sunday start

7:41
Bob: Got to drop 1 because of roster crunch. How to drop: Torkelson or Candelario?

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: Tork, I like Candel’s position flexibility.

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: brb in a minute

7:43
Seiya: Now that I dropped him in every league, what are the odds he fixed whatever “it” was and has a huge September?

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: 10% chance for a huge Septemeber … pretty much the same as any hitter. We’ll have to see. I saw the MLB.com had an article on him. It might say something.

7:44
jimmy meatballz: please rank: grayson rodriguez, ryu, littel, skubal

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: Skubal, Rodriguez, Littel, Ryu

7:45
Michael Massey Star: How would you order the Royals OF — Melendez, Isbel, Waters. Velazquez for (1) Rest of Season and (2) Next Year?

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: Melendez for the C this year. Only Velazquez for the future

7:46
KP: need to drop one. Tyler O’Neill or Kepler. Which one would you drop?

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: Kepler, he’ll only play 3 games this week with 3 lefties on the schedule

7:46
Morton: finally benched him last week to protect the WHIP. i hate fantasy baseball.

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s the worst

7:46
STL pen: Your thoughts on who gets the saves and who pitches to best ERA, WHIP ros?  thank you

7:47
Jeff Zimmerman: I think they will try to give Helsley another shot.

7:47
Need steals: Cabellero going to play enough to get me needed SBs ROS?
Turang?

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: No and no, but I love what Cabellero is doing.

7:48
Gabe: Andrus productive ROS or stick with L Pegeuro (14 team, H2H)?

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: Stick with Andrus this week. Nice schedule

7:48
Phammy: Thoughts on pickup up Pham? I just feel like I’ve been so disappointed with him in the past, but five-tool guy and batting 3rd for a playoff chasing team might be worth it…?

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: He probably should already be rostered.

7:49
Guest: Would u trade away Aledmys Diaz while his stock is still somewhat high, he’s hasn’t been getting many save opportunities recently

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not sure why if you need Saves. If you don’t need Saves, feel free to move him.

7:49
gun to your head: points – quantrill or quintana or sandoval? or just forfeit?

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: Sandoval but as you know, it’s not good

7:50
Road Rox: Starting Tovar and N. Jones this week over slightly worse players who are not Rockies playing on the road?

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe … I usually role with the weekly projections which says bench them

7:51
john: Royce Lewis or Masyn Winn ROS?

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: Lewis

7:51
Roi: Need 2 for this week out of…. Ober with the 2-step (Texas in 2nd game), Bradish v Col, Abbott v LAA, Skubal v Cubs, France v Bsox?

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: Skubal and Ober

7:52
Vic: Do you expect Rays to recall Taj Bradley?

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: At some point. Sounds like he is a week or two away

7:52
Roi: Level of concern for Yoshida ROS with tiring?

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: None

7:53
ryan: I am chasing wins. Start Littell over Sale?

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: I like Sale still

7:53
Bob: Whp dpo you like for s aves ROS:Gregory Santos or Jason Foley?

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: Foley

7:53
JO: Thoughts on Clevinger and his 2 starts this week ? Thanks

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m in with them where I really need Wins

7:54
Zoomies: Help me here. I need to drop a SP in my 12 team, redraft, H2H points league. Wins do not count. Who to drop 1st and then second of this group?  SILSETH, KUTTER CRAWFORD, SKUBAL, Logan Allen, Braxton Garrett, Eury.

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: Logan Allen is the worst on of the group

7:54
Jjjeffreyyy: Thanks for all the chats and advice, Jeff! Much appreciated.

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: Thanks

7:54
Bob: Picked up Alex Cobb off waiver wire. Does he look like he might be a worthwhile contributor for SP is 6×6 stats (QS included)?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe. I dropped him in a couple of spots because his schedule was tough

7:55
SS callups: 5×5: N,Marte or M.Winn? Or just wait for Lawler?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: Easy Marte, more info in my WW article

7:56
OFers: Standard 5×5 auction league: keep K.Carpenter or J.Walker; K. Ruiz or Y.Diaz?

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: Carp, Ruiz

7:56
All that Jazz: Standard 5×5: What is Chisholm’s potential next season?

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: He’ll get hurt several times.

7:57
Jjjeffreyyy: Thanks for all the chats and advice, Jeff! Much appreciated. Super deep AL-only. OBP for hitters. QS+Ws instead of Ws and K/9 instead of Ks for Ps. Currently in first and hoping to play my add drops right to stay there. 2 questions: (1) Ohoppe or Wong ROS. (Less pressing, but Ohoppe could be kept for $4 next season, Wong for $5); (2) who are you dropping out of Canning, Silseth and Littrell to activate Rodon?

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: 1) O’Hoppe

7:58
Jeff Zimmerman: 2) right now, I have the other three arms higher than Rodon. Now, Canning might not be the rotation, so he could be dropped.

7:58
Needs Saves: Are you holding Helsley in OCs? My team needs saves the most as a category, but I could snag Woo Lodolo or Littell for more SP depth

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d grab the SP for now. I’m a little surprised you don’t have Saves on the wire. Team that have locked up their spot are now dropping closer. I have Clay Holmes on the wire in one of my leagues.

8:00
Young bat: Wallner or Velasquez (kc) in obp league?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: Wllner

8:00
Guest: Hey Jeff, how do you prefer to divide your bench spots between pitchers and hitters? Assuming you’re not chasing specific hitting/pitching categories down the stretch of the season, does how you divide your bench spots change at all for the final few weeks?

8:01
Jeff Zimmerman: NFBC with no IL and assuming everyone is healthy, 5 pitchers (1-2 closers or closer specs), 2 hitters. I find it hard to stream off the WW so I try to stream off my bench

8:02
Bruce Live: Add Littell or Pepiot ?

8:02
Jeff Zimmerman: Littell, I trust he has a job after this week.

8:02
Jake McCarthy: Am I about to be a major leaguer again when rosters expand? Worth keeping for a few steals?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not sure. I see Lawler coming up first.

8:03
Lloyd Banks: Third RP in an OC: Santos or Brash?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: Santos

8:03
Chris: How risky is Sale’s two-start week if I am protecting ratios?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: Only one start according to Rotowire, it is a two-start the next week.

8:04
Bogart: Any September call-ups you’re exited about?

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: No, most are a pain because they take playing time away from other regulars.

8:04
Scott Barlow: My last six innings have been flawless. Am I back and worth adding in deep holds leagues?

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: yes

8:05
The rodon less traveled: Would you start Rodon in Washington?

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: No

8:05
Salty: Since his absence wasn’t arm-based, do you think Houck may have a strong finish?  Might have to make a decision to drop one of him, Bello and Maeda for weekly H2H.  Whoever gets dropped is likely to get scooped by a playoff team.

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: Depending on the league, Houck might not be startable against HOU and LAD. I think Houck is fine to drop and then hope to add for the KC start.

8:06
Alex: Do you prefer o’hoppe or patrick bailey ROS? Thanks!

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: O’Hoope

8:07
Guest: Looking forward to next year, as of right now who would your top three picks for roto be?

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: Acuna, Strider, Cole

8:07
Jon: Ragans is a FA with good upcoming matchups. Who to drop? Pepiot, Pivetta, Zack Thompson or Kyle Harrison

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: Harrison, I’m not sold on him

8:08
Monday starter: Rodon coming off the IL Tuesday allows me to add a Monday start in h2h: Assad, Liberatore, or Elder?

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: Elder

8:08
SB endgame: Is Dairon Blanco worth a shot over Myles Straw in AL-Only? (I can’t really drop a slow guy unless it’s ice-cold Hunter Renfroe)

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d stay with straw as long as he get regular at-bats

8:10
Nelson Velazquez: Who do I remind you of? Best player comp best case ROS

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: Framil Reyes

8:10
Saves?: Doval, Clase, Sewald. Alzolay.

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes they are good and get Saves

8:10
Johnny5Alive: Thoughts on Corey julks now that he’s back up?

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: Very little

8:11
NFBCOC12s: Any interest in Tellez in 12s?

8:12
Jeff Zimmerman: No

8:12
setup rp: If you had to weekly stream some setup types for the rest of the season, what would be your criteria?   games played?  weak opponents?  saves by committee?  best recent K’s or whip? other?  thank you.

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes to all but one key factor his gLI. They need to be used in high-leverage spots. Once you find 10 or so of these guys, find the ones who didn’t throw on Sat and Sun for more spots the next week. The seven game weeks are huge

8:15
Bob: Do you think LAD protecting Kershaw for ROS/playoffs and will keep him below the 6 IP needed for QS?

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: Innings won’t be the factor but pitches. I’d see how many they allow him to throw per game.

8:16
Guestee: Empty U slot in a 12 teamer. Belt, Blackmon, or DJ Stewart?

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: Blackmon

8:16
TooDamnTall: How many different formats do you play? I’ve found I need to keep my leagues fairly similar or I end up playing JP Sears in an 8-teamer

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: 3, One NL only (LABR), several 15- teams with 30 man rosters, and 12 teamers with 30 man rosters.

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d play more but it can’t be daily moves and I’d love it if the NFBC got rid of the Friday moves. No sane person should be checking rosters on a Friday night

8:18
Bruce Live: Concerned about Santander’s back injury.  Might need to add : Carlos Santana or Elvis Andrus ? Deep daily roto

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: A little and I have a backup in place. I like to give most injuries a week to get a full answer.

8:19
TooDamnTall: Do you have a weakness in fantasy? Mine would be writing off vets who are no longer at their peak, but still really useful.

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m way too in the weeds sometimes and need to take a step back. There is a reason that the leagues I do with Tanner Bell perform better. It’s also possible he just a way better player.

8:20
Harth Owens: Blackburn (vs KC @ CWS) or Littell (v COL v NYY)?

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: Both

8:21
Mike: Afraid to start Vlady or Frelick with both having potential injuries and off Monday (so likely no better information before rosters lock).

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: The key info will be if they are in their respective lineups.

8:21
Draft vs in season?: What’s more important and are they separate skills?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: Inseason by far. Just going with ADP will give people a competitive team.

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: Now, I think they need to mesh. If a manager hates grinding for Saves, draft two closers. If a manager can spot pitchers, go heavy on hitters during the draft.

8:23
Bruce Live: Who to add to help back up Santander: Carlos Santana or Elvis Andrus? Deep mixed daily

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: Elvis, nice week

8:24
Draft vs in season?: “Just going with ADP will give people a competitive team.”  I see you are familiar with my fantasy football squads.

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: I know a very good player who spent days prepping for his drafts one year and once the season was over, he found that he would have performed just as well using ADP

8:25
Jason: How do you feel about punting on categories? Like if I go with pivetta and Kikuchi as my relievers instead of chasing save/holds?

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: I’ve been punting Saves in a league since the ASG when I was over a dozen behind the second to last guy and then 10 behind the next guy.

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: That’s it for this week. Good luck on your adds.
