Sunday Night Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat

7:31
Jeff Zimmerman: Welcome

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman: Here are tonight’s FAAB bids for the two 15-team mixed leagues.

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: There was 5% in the AL-only league for Moustakes and Escobar

7:33
Giggles: Please rank for ROS stashes Jose Quintana, Grayson Rodriguez, Skubal… thanks.

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: Skubal ……… Quintana, Rodriguez

7:34
Grote: Hi Jeff, would you cut bait on MJ Melendez for Y Diaz or Jansen?

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: Now, Melendez does provide some speed so he might need to be kept by some managers.

7:35
Grote: Convinced Casas has a better second half in him than Rowdy?

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: No, not at all

7:35
G Money: Matt Manning is available in my 16 team points league. Is he a add and a start this week @Tex and @Col?

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: How much have you been drinking?

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: The answer is hell no.

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: McLain, Morel, Westburg.

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: Let me pull some Westburg comps ….

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: Shoot, he’s not in the system yet

7:37
Wade: Rank Westburg, McLain and Morel for rest of season.

7:38
Jeff Zimmerman: Sorry, forgot to post the question.

7:38
Greg: I’m a 12 team mixed roto league rank these pitchers ros: G. Williams, Lugo, France, Woo

7:38
Jeff Zimmerman: Woo, France Williams, Lugo

7:38
Guest: Happy Sunday Jeff. Is casas worth dropping K hayes for? Thoughts on E Perez going forward. Will the marlins bring him back after the ASG? Should he be dropped for canning or kikuchi? Thanks again

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: Your middles seems about the same and probably the schedule will matter the most.

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: I would try to hold perez

7:40
Chaz: Should I go all in on Jordan Westburg?

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: No

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: His projection is almost the same as Ramon Urias

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: Westburg: .243/.316/.412
Urias: .249/.320/.399

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: If Urias had a full-time job would you be going on in on him?

7:42
Guest: no question, just venting about having all of Cole Wheeler and Burnes today

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: Understandable

7:42
Tom: I’m just about ready to pull the plug on Darvish in a 14 teamer, mixed — what do you think? crazy? Would you rather have Darvish or any of the WW picks for the week?

7:43
Jeff Zimmerman: Say between Darvish or Gavin Williams I’d go Darvish

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: You don’t have to start a pitcher if they are struggling, just treat them like a player on the IL

7:44
KCbbq: 12 team AL only 5×5 H2H keeper league using W+QS. Been offered $20 Pablo Lopez for my $19nBryce Miller and $40 Judge. My SPs are Gausman, Jon Gray, Joe Ryan, Wells and Lynn (streamer). Trade or sit and hope for Judge to be back in 4-6 weeks? Also concerned that Miller is too FB reliant and IP limit? Good chance when Judge comes back he’ll have issues (turf toe) and not have his usual pop.

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: Hold Judge in a keeper league

7:44
Giancarlo: What’s up with me? Missing my bash brother, cold streak, still hurt, or  toast?

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: I think he’s done

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d like to see his 40-day wOBA break .400 before buying back in: https://www.fangraphs.com/players/giancarlo-stanton/4949/graphs?statAr…

7:46
Guest: Thanks for all the help, Jeff! Where would Harrison Bader be in your rankings this week?

7:47
Jeff Zimmerman: Let me look

7:47
Jeff Zimmerman: Around Friedl and Vierling

7:48
Booth: ROS… Verdugo, Kwan, McCarthy, Hays

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: With this group, you stream the one with the best week … which is DET’s Carpenter this week (not listed). Assume one is your streaming option and churn that spot

7:49
RGM: Does Matt Chapman have a middle ground? How much will I regret dropping him for a leadoff hitting Kim with some SB upside?

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: Dropping him for Kim is fine.

7:50
Jazz Chisolm: if he makes it through the rest of the season, what’s your guess on how long will his off season surgery will keep him out for?  Thanks.

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe none, he might just DH.

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: No way to know right now

7:51
Miller and Sheehan: Are we done for awhile?  Or is there some juice ros?

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: Depends which Miller but there can be some.

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: I see both Millers as 4.00 ERA talents which is fine

7:52
Guestavo: 12 teamers. FAB Priority…Carpenter or Hicks this week?

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: For just this week, Carpenter. Those COL games are gold

7:54
Jordan: Love the Reese Olson improved control (relative to his minor league performance) and K:BB ratio – Tigers have to keep him in the rotation ROS no?

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: He stays for sure. He might be their best arm right now

7:54
Catch me if you can: I’m done with Varsho and will start streaming catchers at this point. Thoughts?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: Why would you stream the 7th ranked catcher? https://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy-tools/auction-calculator?teams=12&lg…

7:56
Sheehan: Why can’t I strike anyone out?

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: You only throw that fastball … all the time. MLB hitters can hit fastballs.

7:56
Buxton: Has Byron Buxton become Joey Gallo ?

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: With more injuries

7:57
Phil: Catcher help in H2H, Alvarez or Davis?

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: Alvarez if he’s on the wire

7:57
colorado: who benefits most after Moustakis trade?   Monteiro get a chance for awhile?  thanks

7:58
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not guessing what the Rockies will do

7:58
Don: I still have around half my budget and need pitching. Is Gavin Williams worth a $200 bid?

7:58
Jeff Zimmerman: The only issue is what happen when Quantril comes off the IL

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: Williams might get demoted

7:59
Chaz: ROS….Woo, Jon Gray, Canning, F. Peralta

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: Woo, Gray, Canning Peralta

7:59
Ben: Giancarlo follow up:   Would you drop him for the likes of  K Carpenter or Brendan Doyle?

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably not, I’d have to dive in though

8:00
Better SP ROS: Do you have a preference between Lugo and Desclafani ROS?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably Lugo

8:00
Chaz: Encarnacio-Strand or Westburg?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: Strand by a mile

8:01
Jeff Zimmerman: Put out feelers or just hold. It’ll only be a couple weeks

8:01
Westburg: Jeff my co-manager boiled down my question much more succinctly… “Have him Rank – Royce Lewis, Gorman, Westburg, Henry Davis” and I’ll add Torkelson.

8:02
Jeff Zimmerman: Lewis ……………….Tork, Davis, Westburg, Gorman

8:02
Guest: Why is Anthony volpe in the majors?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: The Yankees bet the under this year.

8:03
Guest: Should I go all in on Gary Sanchez?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: No, he’s a min bid guy

8:03
A.: Woo or Whitlock?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: Woo

8:03
Seanold: 15 team 2C roto, someone dropped Willson Contreras for Naylor last weekend. What’s a reasonable bid? Got Rutschman, will be dropping Thaiss

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: At this point 3% to 4% of your original budget

8:04
Guest: Detmers worth rolling out there for 2x this week?  Would need to drop one of the Millers to do so Bobby or Bryce.

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: I am but the Miller drop is tough …. Bobby

8:04
Simon: Is Jose Alvarado droppable in 12 team leagues in a saves only (no holds) league?

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: Yea

8:05
second thoughts: I was thinking of bidding 200 out of 400 remaining on Williams in my 15-teamer which probably will guarantee I get him, but now thinking too much risk of both being sent down and not being very good, and I could use that 200 more wisely down the road.  Do I go with first instinct or my better judgment?

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: I think it comes down to if you need pitching or not. I’m not sure other options will be called up. As for hitters, I could see several big names get the call

8:06
Sam: What kind of production to expect out of Westburg ROS?  15 HR/10 Stls?

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe half those totals

8:07
Catchin the Stream: Stephenson has been meh.  Worth dropping to stream a hotter hand like Bailey, Y Diaz, or Sabol?  One C league but it is OBP

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, drop him for one of the others. It looks like a position you can stream

8:07
Steve: ROS – Hudson (LAD) or Jax (MIN) – Saves+Holds format

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: Jax for now

8:08
KCbbq: Looking to replace Velazquez in 12 team AL only 5×5 H2H keeper. Have $21 of 100 FAAB left. Eddy Escobar, Moustaskas, McKinney, Biggio, Fletcher and Langliers best of what is available. What order and anyone worth more than $1? Could keep and use Valazquez’ SBs but pt is now an issue.

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go with McKinney as the top choice but no more than $1

8:08
Jon B: I’m streaming my MI position at the moment.  Who’s the best bet for this week between Arcia, Tovar (home all week) and M. Garcia?

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: Tovar at home and just pay for the Razz weekly planner to look these up yourself

8:09
AJ: Fraley has been everything we’ve ever asked for…. Think he keeps this up?  Does his exit velocity make you nervous?

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: Sure on keeping it up, he just need to stay in the platoon

8:10
Oil Can Boyd fan: Need some guidance. I’m in a 12-team, H2H, points redraft. Good/decent starters are as scarce as hen’s teeth. No one will trade them either. Aside from the blue ribbon kinda prospects who have already come up like Bibee, Taj, Eury, Gav Williams, etc., what starters are in the minors who may be up to “the show” before the All Star break? Need some names to watch, if you will.

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t know the minors at all. The only one I can think of is SF’s Harrison

8:11
Jon B: Would you drop E. Rosario or McCarthy for Votto?  Decently stocked at both positions so this is just depth.  Dropping Sale also an option but I’ll have an IL spot open in a week or so, so would prefer to hold.

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: I might with Rosario.

8:12
Westburg: Thanks for doing this Jeff. 12tm mixed keeper element 5×5 (obp and QS) I was about to drop Westburg to speculate on Henry Davis. The Westburg call up shakes that up a little now, I think. Would you take Davis over Westburg? Would you drop someone else? Current C is salvy, other drop candidates could be… Royce Lewis, Spencer Torkelson, Nolan Gorman, and I guess Bobby Miller, if you are turned off by the last two starts.

8:12
Jeff Zimmerman: drop Gorman for either of the two

8:14
NFBC_OC: how much faab for mountcastle in 12s

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not sure. The lineup is getting loaded with O’Hearn and Hicks hitting.

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: I wonder if the team is just going to cycle guys to the DH and the bench

8:15
Greg: Added Hicks last Sunday, but in a 15 team NFBC would you still hold onto Helsley? Report today was Helsley was “far from returning”.  Would probably add a streaming type SP or reserve hitter in his place.

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: I thought I read the ASG but could be later. It depends on if you might need the Saves if Helsley comes back and takes Hicks’s job.

8:16
Woodruff Springs Ray: Really need help at 1B. Could you rank votto, casas, tork and J.D Davis in a 7 category (xbh and ops)

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: Votto, Davis, Casas, Tork

8:17
Tony 2 Chains: Need to drop 1 of Rosario Siri Matos…who goes?

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: Matos

8:17
JW: Stott, Perdomo, M.Vargas or Westburg for 2B ROS? 12 tm standard 5×5. You’re the Best in the Biz

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: Nice lie … Stott

8:18
Guest: 5×5 roto (OBP) – Trading for a hitter, position doesn’t matter – Riley or Castellanos ROS

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: Riley for me

8:18
Heyo!: Do you think Curtis Mead can turn it around and be up later this year?

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: I wish. I took a few prospect chances in D&H and it was on him. I’ve lost hope

8:19
Waiver Favor: Hi Jeff, I’ve got top waiver priority. Westburg or wait for Cowser in15-team h2h 5×5 dynasty? Thanks again, Jeff!

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: I wouldn’t use it on Westburg

8:19
Henry Big D: What is a healthy bid on Henry Davis when you only have $34 remaining of $200? Thinking max I can go is like $4?

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: That would be about it for me, maybe less

8:20
Mike: Do you think you could get some decent pitching like heaney or someone along those lines for ozuna

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably not

8:20
Guest: Are you buying Whitlock?  I’m a sucker for a good fastball changeup combination.  Not to mention he is RP/SP eligible.

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: I try to roster him when/where ever he is available.

8:21
Jordan: Kikuchi has been on a roll – because of Miami and Oakland – or has he harnessed and refined the secret sauce?  Of course next two starts against Boston and CWS, so we will ride the crollee

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: He needs to throw strikes … that’s it

8:21
aok: drop kirk for contreras or contreras in a 10 team points league?

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, move on from Kirk

8:22
Strider: Am I cooked?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: You might be but Strider isn’t

8:23
Big Dog: Drop Hayes for Friedl?

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: I could see it. Friedl might not be in a platoon anymore … maybe.

8:23
Salty: Do you think Bradish has moved into a universal start, or are you wary on using him in tougher matchups?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s close to starting all the time. I wish I had more.

8:24
Chris: Curious your long term thoughts on MVargas, CAbrams and TCasas?  Worth holding on deep taxi squad or move on and grab some top 100 prospects that may be FAs? Thanks for doing these!

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: They are worth rostering over 50th or later ranked prospects

8:25
Jordan: Am I delusional in thinking Darick Hall can hit 15 HR after the ASB?

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: Yep

8:25
Jordan: Reese Olson at Texas.  Petrified or cautiously optimistic?

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: Petrified and tried to bench him where possible

8:26
Mother Tucker: Why am I such a disappointment?

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: I do think the rest of the lineup is having some effect, even if it’s not getting as many at-bats

8:28
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m going to call it for the evening. Good luck on the ones of you who have FAAB tonight.

Geez I am a big Luis Severino fan but you are correct. That was a very poor outing for him…..he just got lucky. I’m more worried than before…
