Sunday Night Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat
7:31 |
: Welcome
7:31 |
: Here are the winning FAAB bids from the two 15-team Tout Wars leagues
7:32 |
![]() |
7:32 |
: projections for JJ Bleday?
7:33 |
: I think he’s a full-season 20-30 HR, 5 SB, .225 AVG guy
7:33 |
: Are we still believers in Vinny P? All the peripherals say hold but it’s been rough. Prefer him to Pratto? darick hall?
7:33 |
: I believe in Vinnie over the other two. Probably all three should be rostered in 12-team for deeper leagues.
7:34 |
: What’re your thoughts on Josh Lowe?
7:34 |
: He’s Joey Gallo-lite
7:34 |
: I’m not sure if that is playable in most leagues.
7:34 |
: Gorman or Justin Turner ROS?
7:35 |
: Turner but I could understand dropping either one.
7:35 |
: Dropped Tanner Scott, so I have an opening. Thinking of adding Felix Bautista . I own Jorge Lopez. Saves only Roto. Could use those Ks/9. If no saves.
7:35 |
: Sure
7:35 |
: Bleday worth a shot over all of Baddoo, E. Rosario and T. Taylor?
7:36 |
: I would add Taylor first. The hope is that Bleday hits like Taylor
7:36 |
: As for Baddoo, he’s one of the few SB guys on the wire
7:37 |
: I’m not interested in Rosario and I could see the Braves bring in a platoon bat with Duvall out
7:37 |
: Happy Sunday Jeff. I’m dying for saves. Is it time to give up on doval? Finnegan and Diaz are available. Thanks again
7:37 |
: I’d hold Doval. Possibly add one of the others.
7:38 |
: stripling detmers or garrett for ratio help ROS?
7:38 |
: For ratios, Garrett, Stripling, Detmers
7:38 |
: Nees a Tyler Stephenson replacement again. Melendez, Grandal, Trevino, Carson Kelly available. How would you rank them ROS?
7:38 |
: Grandal for a week, he could be a league winner
7:39 |
: Then Trevino, Melendez Kelly
7:39 |
: What is your outlook for Roansy rest of season….when do you expect him back? Thanks Jeff
7:40 |
: I’m holding off until the trade deadline. If I did roster him, I’d have to be ready to move on immediately
7:40 |
: Prato available in my 12 team AL only keeper league. Have $16 of 100 FAAB left. He’s high risk/high reward due to high K%. Also unsure of his pt. What kind of bid you think he fetches? I’m looking at replacing Josh Smith as it looks like the league has figured him out. Or do you have hopes for him.?
7:41 |
: I think he’ll go for a ton in AL only.
7:41 |
: One sec
7:41 |
: He went for $20 in the ToutWars AL only league
7:42 |
: Who would you rather have ros Bolt or Taylor Trammell? In 2023?
7:42 |
: An open roster spot
7:42 |
: Trammell
7:42 |
: Are any of these okay to replace what someone hoped to get out of Max Meyer, and what order? Brayan Bello, DL Hall, Ethan Small, Kyle Muller?
7:43 |
: I don’t follow the minors and have no idea who Small is.
7:43 |
: Of the rest, Hall, Muller, Bello
7:43 |
: In a 6×6 OPS league who would you rather have over the next 5 years, Wander or Adley?
7:43 |
: Wander
7:43 |
: i need to start 2 in a 5×5 roto. Thomas (az), yaz, duran (bos), straw, grisham. Which 2. Thank you
7:44 |
: Duran and …. Yaz, but I don’t like it
7:44 |
: How much FAAB is Luzardo worth in 15-team NFBC format?
7:44 |
: $10 at most. I’m off on adding him
7:45 |
: Is it Ezequiel Duran time or is he just gonna ride the pine?
7:45 |
: He seems to be playing every day. I have him in several bid trees
7:45 |
: Would you drop Cobb or Giolito for Singer, D May or McCullers?
7:45 |
: No
7:45 |
: Hi Jeff, in a QS league with k-bb, can you please rank ROS: Stripling, Springs, Kutter, Cobb.
7:46 |
: Stripling, Cobb, Springs, Kutter
7:46 |
: Hi. Who do you like ROS and next year for 10 team roto. Moncada, J Rojas, R Urias, or Wendell. Thanks!
7:47 |
: Why do people ask these ROS of questions, I just use our auction calculator
7:47 |
: Will Giolito turn things around in 2nd half or is this just him?
7:47 |
: How the hell am I supposed to know. Maybe I should break out the magic eight ball
7:47 |
: Your thoughts on Trayce Thompson as a (hopefully) short term sub for Devers. 3 against DC and then four in Denver this week, and he seems to be firmly entrenched in the lineup. Other options would be Lamb (same schedule), Wendle (SBs!!), Bleday or Adell. Thanks for the help.
7:48 |
: I’d go with Wendle, he’s a longer-term add. Taylor is coming back soon (possibly this week) and Thompson’s value could take a hit.
7:48 |
: Looks like Reid Detmers had 82 innings last year and is it 76 today. Does put him 5-6 starts away from getting shut down for the year?
7:49 |
: Probably and the Angels aren’t going to push him
7:49 |
: Are there any middle RPs you’d target for ratios and Ws that can help ease the loss of King?
7:49 |
: I like Reynaldo Lopez of the White Sox
7:50 |
: Brock Burke is also a decent option
7:50 |
: drop harrison bader in 15 team roto? Doing well in the stolen base department
7:50 |
: Yep, it’s that time of year.
7:50 |
: Hi Jeff. Do you think Bass is new closer in Miami? Think Whitlock gets any saves RoS?
7:51 |
: No on Whitlock. As for Bass maybe but I could see him get moved
7:51 |
: brb
7:52 |
: 12 team OF replacements; Bledday, Eddie Rosario, Luis Gonzalez, Slater, Naquin, or Senzel? ***insert puke emoji***
7:53 |
: I’d go with Bledday (see what is there) or Naquin
7:53 |
: Hi Jeff! The YTD stats auction calculator doesn’t allow QS to be selected. Not sure how else to report this information. Would be nice to have though.
7:54 |
: Sorry about that but I’m not going to great about pulling those out of thin air
7:54 |
: On marginal players, are # of scheduled games the tie breaker always for you
7:55 |
: That and scheduled opponents. While it might be off sometimes, the $25 for Razz weekly rankings is the best tool on the market. They just take everything into account
7:55 |
: Think Chris Taylor plays every day when he returns?
7:55 |
: Should
7:55 |
: Edward Olivares droppable in 12 tm?
7:56 |
: For sure
7:56 |
: Are you holding onto Aroldis another week?
7:56 |
: Nope unless I’m desperate for Saves.
7:56 |
: Quality starts is in the auction calculator, may just depend on whether the system selected actually projects them. . .??
7:56 |
: Because we are lazy
7:56 |
: Aren’t we all
7:56 |
: Going fishing for saves. Trying to predict new closers after trade deadline. AL only. Clark KC. Jackson OAK. Or Hernandez/Moore/Leclerc Tex. Or should I not even toss a line in. Lange for Det is gone.
7:57 |
: I like Jackson out of this group.
7:57 |
: Scott Effross of the Cubs is interesting.
7:57 |
: I like Barlow in Texas
7:58 |
: Would you swap out Ward or Walker for Naylor?
7:58 |
: I’d try to roster all three. If there similar players to these on the wire, just stream them
7:58 |
: Ian Anderson.. keep or cut
7:59 |
: Probably a cut but depends on options. There wasn’t much out there in my leagues
7:59 |
: are Lauer worth a start v Boston or kirby with vs hou in his second start and how about pivetta? This week
7:59 |
: It comes down to needs. I don’t like either one if you are protecting ratios
8:00 |
: How much FAAB for Donaldson 12 tm NFBC?
8:00 |
: $20 to $30. might even be less. In one of my OC’s the team with the most $$ is at $126
8:00 |
: will Alexis Diaz get a share of saves rest of season ?
8:00 |
: I think so
8:01 |
: Concerned at all
8:01 |
: yes
8:01 |
: How many more times are you and I gonna swap first place in TGFBI?
8:01 |
: A few thousand. I’m wondering if one will win the overall and the other the side pot
8:02 |
: Detmers seems to have found his groove lately. How confident are you he will continue to pitch well?
8:02 |
: As long as he keeps in the rotation, I don’t see it ending.
8:02 |
: Please rank Pasquantino, A Thomas, Kirilloff
8:03 |
: That is the order. I’m a little worried with the Twins CI guys with Sano about to come off the IL
8:03 |
: Hi Jeff, thanks for doing this…how do you rank Stroman, Lodolo, Alex Wood, and Snell?
8:03 |
: Wood, Stroman, Snell, Lodolo
8:03 |
: Looks like DPeterson losing spot in NYM rotation – drop for Cobb, Detmers, MKeller, BGarrett? 12 team H2H 5×5 and I’m more concerned about ROS (playoffs) than the next week or two.
8:04 |
: Agree 100% and possibly a bad matchup vs NYY next week
8:04 |
: All are fine but I’d prioritize Cobb and Garrett
8:05 |
: Is Tork a keeper in 12 tm Otto 4×4 for $6? Got offered E Cab but I need a long term 1st solution.
8:05 |
: I feel you can find a better 1B for no cost on the wire
8:05 |
: Better stash…McCullers or Freddy P? Thanks
8:05 |
: Freddy
8:05 |
: Not even close
8:05 |
: What percentage do you give for Lopez (Baltimore) being dealt this week. If he is dealt will Bautista take over the closing role?
8:06 |
: 33%, I think it will be Bautista. I could also so them bring in a couple arms
8:06 |
: e. ruiz a hold until the trade deadline or drop for miranda/r. urias?
8:07 |
: I could see dropping him if you don’t need the steals
8:07 |
: The next two weeks are going to be nuts
8:07 |
: George Kirby and Aaron Ashby on the waiver wire — either or both better than my Kopech and Blackburn for the second half? H2H/14 teams
8:08 |
: Yes on both, but Ashby might go to the bullpen
8:08 |
: Wondering about guys soon to come off the IL. Pitchers like May or feiereyen and hitters like yepez and Segura. Get them now or pass?
8:08 |
: There are several nice options.
8:09 |
: May is throwing and hard (numbers in my WW article). Yepez and Segura are decent options but Haniger Taylor, and Peralta are on the way back.
8:10 |
: How would you rank these RPs? Finnegan, Seranthony, De Los Santos, Puk, Poche, Bass, Phillips, Diaz
8:10 |
: Why don’t you add a few dozen more?
8:11 |
: Finnegan and Diaz should be the priority.
8:11 |
: $17 is kind of a lot for Rengifo, no?
8:12 |
: Maybe, Rengifo does play every day and hit high in the lineup. With two positions. Comes down to the team’s needs
8:12 |
: Hi Jeff, 15 tm NFBC – what % FAAB for Segura?
8:12 |
: Let’s look at last week.
8:14 |
: The median value was around $15, maybe expect double that this week
8:14 |
: Maybe close to $10
8:14 |
: Jo Adell get sent back down soon?
8:14 |
: No, not with Trout out
8:14 |
: Jeff Do you see Ryan Lewis as a ft player in Seattle going forward? Miss hearing you guys on the Launch Angle pod
8:15 |
: I don’t know who Lewis is and the pod will hopefully be back soon.
8:15 |
: Noticed Ezekial Duran didn’t make your column. Still any interest now that he’s back and seems to be playing every day?
8:15 |
: I didn’t know for sure that he’s playing but he seems like one of the better Dever replacements in 15-teamers.
8:15 |
Been offered Morton for Cron and am thinking ahead to playoff run with a staked staff. Would you pull the trigger on that? |
8:16 |
: Make the trade. I know the Rockies play a ton of road games in the 2H. Do check on the Rockies schedule during the playoffs
8:16 |
: Do you think Alexis Diaz has a lot of value as a closer for saves rest of season and even post trade deadline?
8:16 |
: Some for sure.
8:17 |
: Think Eddie Rosario is rosterable in 12 teamers with Duval on the IL?
8:17 |
: As long as the Braves don’t add anyone
8:18 |
: Got any inside dope on Robert and his seeing pink elephants and the suddenly suspicious jammed my hand into the bag prior to the HR Derby JRod? Both look a bit fishy. Think the M’s are too embarrassed to admit he suffered the injury at the derby and took the more plausible hurt it during a regular season game approach. Just sayin….
8:18 |
: Who knows.
8:18 |
: Mets don’t have any hits vs Musgrove yet
8:18 |
: Nice
8:18 |
: Would you play Isbel over Josh Smith now that the latter is basically ice cold or do you not trust what KC is doing. Isbel is available tonight.
8:19 |
: I like Isbel as an add where I need at-bats this week. He’s not my #1 coice in any league but an options
8:19 |
: When would be the best time to flip McCullers?
8:19 |
: Once he makes two good MLB starts
8:19 |
: HI Jeff: Jo Adell, Joc Pederson or Tyrone Taylor for one week with Trout on extended IL.
8:19 |
: Taylor and it’s not close
8:20 |
: When you find yourself rostering a pitcher who’s crushing it but might have their IP limited (Spencer Strider) are you aggressively shopping them mid-season or prefer to hold and enjoy whatever they give you?
8:20 |
: I get all I can out of them and am trying to keep my bench full of replacements
8:20 |
: Continuing with my Isbel/Smith question my only other option is activate Bolt and sit Smith. Still prefer Isbel?
8:20 |
: Isbel
8:20 |
: mets message did not age well
8:20 |
: says Hi
8:20 |
: What do you think of oneil cruz? Worth holding onto for the potential, or move on to someone else, like R. Urias
8:21 |
: If redraft, go with Urias
8:21 |
: The auction calculator has BGarrett very low ROS outlook, but is that due to some uncertainty about his rotation status? Is there room for Garrett even when ECab comes back?
8:22 |
: I think so, Garrett is a top-30 starter right now. He’s not going any where as long as he has innings
8:22 |
: Any interest in Tyrone Taylor in 12 team mixed 5×5? What % of FAAB? Thanks
8:22 |
: I am where I need an OF. Again, not my #1 but he’s playing
8:23 |
: Hi Jeff, looking for a Devers replacement. Bohm, Moncada, Espinal, Jeter Downs or maybe Casas if he gets called up? Thanks!
8:23 |
: Espinal, Moncada, Bohm, Downs, Casas
8:23 |
: Marco gonzales or Paul blackburn
8:23 |
: Blackburn
8:24 |
: Replace Blackburn with Kutter, Pivetta, Cole Irvin, or Micah White?
8:24 |
: Only Kutter and depends on matchup
8:24 |
: Hey Jeff: With Trout once again on the IL is Adell worth a roster spot (14-team league). No illusions about his overall value just trying to make playoffs. I’d cut Dozier or J. Walsh.
8:24 |
: Stay put
8:24 |
: Ramon Urias is gonna win some leagues
8:25 |
: Hopefully. I have him a ton in D&H
8:25 |
: % chance Lauerano gets dealt this week?
8:25 |
: 0%
8:25 |
: Sounds like Bellos line was maybe worse than how he actually pitched. Worth holding to see if he figures things out or drop and let him be someone else’s problem?
8:25 |
: Hopefully you can do better
8:25 |
: lauerano, taveras, carpenter…unfortunately i will have to drop one…who would you let go if it were up to you (roto league)?
8:26 |
: Taveras unless you really need speed then go Carp
8:26 |
: bottom of the barrel options at C in an 12 team AL only league starting 2 catchers. Any hope for bo naylor to get some quality ABs in 2H? Not much else in front of him in CLE at this point
8:26 |
: I’d guess no
8:26 |
: Drop Duran (Bos) or Nolan Jones for Leody?
8:26 |
: I don’t see any of them as an upgrade
8:27 |
: Jeff
8:27 |
: What up G.
8:27 |
: Does tapia play enough to be relevant
8:27 |
: no
8:27 |
: Drop N Pivetta for Keegan Thompson? 15 tm NFBC
8:28 |
: Yes. I heard a rumor that Pivetta was headed to the bullpen if Sale stayed in the rotation.
8:28 |
: Would you bench Goldschmidt this week for a replacement level 1B?
8:28 |
: Yes
8:29 |
: I’m thinking about dropping Eovaldi for one of Garrett, Cobb or Kirby in a weekly 10 team ESPN league (3 IL spots, IP eating valued highly)
8:29 |
: With those WW options, just stream 2-start guys
8:29 |
: And that is it for the week. Hopefully there will be some trades before next week’s chat

Do you think we’re looking at a JRod jerk job? Servais says an IL stint is a possibility but so is his return to the lineup Monday. Been hearing that since Friday. I think the M’s are too embarrassed to admit he hurt it at the derby and instead blamed a jammed wrist during his last regular season game before the break. Which is certainly a more preferable time to injure oneself than a HR Derby exhibition.
I think he probably DID injure it a little bit in the last game before the break and then instead of resting it he went and took 70 swings in 4 minutes, then did it again, then a third time and by the time he was done he had made it worse.
