Sunday Night Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: Sorry for the delay. I’m working out some details on a league

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: Here are this week’s FAAB bids in the two ToutWars15-team mixed.

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:35
roeVSwadeboggs: so are we buying weaver? he did have that one good season before getting hurt. and now he’s done well in two starts. i feel like there’s going to be a bank run on him. are we buying, and if so, how much are we spending?

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not interested at all but I missed the start to see if he did anything different

7:36
feddy: OBP league. Thinking about dropping Hunter Dozier. Alternate options are P Evans, T Shaw, R Mountcastle, J Aguilar, W Flores. Would you take any of them? Even if no, which one is the best of them?

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d drop for Mountcastle

7:36
2C or not 2C: Hi Jeff. Please pick a 2nd catcher (AL OBP): Zunino, Torrens, Mejia. Thank you!

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: Torrens and it’s not close

7:37
Matt L: Are you speculating on any rookie pitchers like Gore, Deivi Garcia, or Logan Gilbert this week in leagues where available? Injuries/demotions in front of them and could be next up after service time manipulation?

7:38
Jeff Zimmerman: I never speculate on rookie pitchers. They almost always disappoint for their costs. If it’s min bids, go ahead.

7:38
feddy: rank these MI/util options:  Z McKinstry, J Lowrie, J Profar, H Kim. Does it depend on playing time? if so how would u forecast?

7:38
Jeff Zimmerman: Lowrie, Kim, McKinstry, Profar

7:38
Fox: How cut able is Kluber?

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: I didn’t think he was draftable. Cut away.

7:39
Enrico Palazzo: Where would you rank Mitch Keller compared to the names on your Waiver Wire Targets article, in a roto league?

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not a Keller fan at all, give me a sec to eye ball it.

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: Widener to Zimmermann area

7:40
Royal Throwers: Danny Duffy or Jakob Junis, for next few weeks?

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: Junis for me, that new cutter is nasty

7:41
Ramie Shalabi: I need a C-Mart replacement. How hard %-wise should I go after one of Boyd, Rodon, Ynoa and/or K.H. Kim?

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: The first two around 5%, 1% on the last two

7:41
Ramie Shalabi: Hampson or France to replace Wong?

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: France I think. Use Hampson at home.

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: And it is that a shallow league. Both are long gone in anything I play in.

7:42
Buyer’s Remporse?: Should we be giving up on one the healiners from last week’s chat Rojas, or hold if there is bench space?

7:43
Jeff Zimmerman: He should keep playing but it’s ugly. Hold for one more but move on next week if nothing happens.

7:43
Matt J: Should I be worried about Tommy Pham? He had a poor spring training, and hasn’t looked great yet. In addition, it appears that the SD outfield is pretty full now that Grisham is back. Am I overreacting, or is there reason for concern. At this point would I be further off going with Profar in a H2H points league?

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: Pham should be rostered and started in all formats. It really depends on his replacement

7:44
6 Man Rotations: I feel like I heavily invested in Mariner and Angel starters and am hating the 6-man rotations. How big a problem is it in an only league?

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: It sucks almost never getting 2 starts. Cobb does have one in two weeks.

7:45
feddy: Are starters like Matz, Hoffman, Arrieta, Cueto, and Rogers legit?

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes: Matz, Hoffman Maybe: Arrieta, Cueto, Rogers

7:45
Something Brewing: Is Shaw worth buying over Mullins, Isbel, Naylor or Locastro?

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: Not really. None really stick out so play the matchups

7:47
Charlie: Would you pick up Ginkel or Trevino or both for possibly saves and I’d be dropping Pagan of Padres and Garcia of Tigers thanks

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m in the same boat here and I’m not sure the answer.

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d prioritize Trevino, but I’m not sure the right answer

7:48
bmfc1: Ugh but if you were picking up a RP (5X5, 12-team, Mixed), please rank: C. Knebel, Ian Kennedy, Richard Rodriguez. Thank you.

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: Richard Rodriguez, Kennedy ……………………..Knebel

7:48
Mike E P: Considering “reasonab;e” FAAB for Bass and/or Crichton. Thoughts

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: 5%, possible less

7:49
Teddy: Time to cut bait on Kirk in 12 team mixed leagues?  Ramos, Navarrez, Stassi and Garver are in Waivers. Who would you go for?

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: I did and had worse options than you.

7:49
SaberSim: Hi. Not sure if this is for you, but I always liked the sabersim leader board you guys had. I know those numbers are on individual pages, but will the overall list come back?

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably not from our agreement with them.

7:50
Tinker Tailor: What’s your favorite strategy for feverishly tinkering with your bids in the hours before midnight?

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: Host a chat so I have something else to do.

7:51
Matt: Nate Lowe worth holding in a 12 team league or ok to move on? 36 K%, 3 BB% seems to say cliff is coming.

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: Check the matchups and replacement options, but get ready to move on.

7:51
45 blows billygoats: Nicky Lopez time in KC? How many SB is he worthy of while Mondesi is out?

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: 1/week, maybe a bit less.

7:52
Desperado: Which two handcuffs get the most saves this year: T. Scott, M. Mayers, Ottavino, Doolittle, Graveman, Wittgren or Ginkel?

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: I think Scott and Witthgren will get double-digit Saves even if the primary closer is healthy

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: Otherwise Graveman

7:53
feddy: Can you count on Byron Buxton to sustain?

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: Has he ever? Why would he start now

7:53
feddy: on a scale from 1-10 how badly do i need to take David Dahl Brian Anderson Austin Slater Jay Bruce and Maikel Franco off my watch list

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: 10 for all but Bruce, he could be helpful soon

7:54
Guest: How much FAAB % on Clase and Lamet in 12-team NFBC league? (context: need saves and somehow Lamet was dropped last week)

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: At least 10% for each, possibly more

7:55
Waiting game: As I await Merrifield to qualify for 2B in my league (10 games needed this year), would you bench France come that time in order to play Margot in the vacated OF spot of Merrifield?  Or just keep rolling with the Merrifield/France combo & leave Margot on the bench?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: Depends if you need steals and go with Margot. Also, Margot will loose playing time once Kiermaier returns.

7:56
Unfavorite position: I of course like many wait til’ late in the game draft day to grab a catcher.  S.Murphy was the play, and he’s off to a slow start.  Any of the following catchers you would grab in place of Murphy?  Narvaez, Zunino, Barnhardt, Nunez?

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: Nunez at home. Narvaez isn’t bad

7:56
Bobby: When are we seeing Kelenic?

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: In a week or two

7:57
Guest: 12 team SV/HLD league, who to pick up, Clase or Knebel?

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: Clase

7:57
Roberts: Be patient with David Price or drop with limited reserve spots?

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: I moved on, he looks to be done

7:57
Jim: With Wong out, will Cain now lead off regularly?

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: Most likely

7:57
Matt: Nimmo, McCutchen, Pollock, Winker, Haniger. Need 2-3 for 12 tm OBP/SLG.

7:58
Jeff Zimmerman: Whoa, those were my 12th round picks in most leagues. Haniger for sure

7:58
Jeff Zimmerman: McC and Nimmo

7:58
Taz: Thoughts on Jay Bruce in 15 team NFBC…have a chance to bid on Arraez and could use the boost to BA or am I missing out on big PWR from Bruce? Thx

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: This is really what you need

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: HR or AVG

7:59
feddy: Will Philip Evans playing time decrease whenever Hayes returns

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t know and I read up on the situation too much today

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: I seems like it’ll be in the outfield.

8:00
Rich: Need a one week sp.  houser, shoemaker, or arrietta?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: Houser for me

8:00
Guest: Who would you rather have ROS: German Marquez or Dinelson Lamet?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: lamet

8:00
Guest: What are you looking for from hitters and pitchers this early in the season?

8:01
Jeff Zimmerman: Playing time and strikeout and walk rate. Teoscar Hernandez has a 50% K%, 0% BB%. That’s bad.

8:01
feddy: Are you going to stay away from the murky DBacks closer situation? i’d expect Crichton to be the closer for the near future but it’s tough

8:02
Jeff Zimmerman: It depends on how desperate I am

8:03
Guest: Is Brandon Lowe benchable for Garret Hampson until he actually shows something.  Kind of looks lost at the plate when I’ve seen him.  At least Hampson has Coors and some speed.

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: That’s reasonable

8:03
Mike E P: Holding Montgomery NYY SP after today vs TB, has them next also?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: Hold for sure, start next time ??? I’ll need to dive into the start more

8:03
feddy: How worried should Montero owners be about Graveman

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: They should be more worried about Montero

8:04
Nate: I’ve got $100/yr for FAAB, how much should I bid on Emmanuel Class?

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: Depends if there are $0 bids. With $1, only $2 to $3, with $0 bids, those can be bumped up to $5 to $7.

8:05
ez: FAAB % on Trivino?

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: Don’t be surprised if it takes 10% but I’d be in the 5% range

8:06
Guest: Iv’e seen Melancon ranked as high as 10th among closers.  Am I missing something?  There are at least two more talented options in that bullpen?

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: Be he has the job

8:06
Blue: Hey Jeff.  Carlos Carrasco is available in one of my NFBC roto leagues.  How high would you bid?  Thanks!

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: You have to hold him around a month, maybe 5%. The problem is that injuries could hit your team and you might need to drop him

8:07
ralph: What’s your read on McKinstry? Over/under on playing 5 out of 7 games if everyone’s healthy?

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s under if they are healthy. Just remember, A.J. Pollock is in the outfield

8:08
Mike H: With the call-ups looming, which player is worth stashing in a 12 team mixed keeper league Vidal Brujan or Nolan Jones? It’s the standard 5 offensive categories plus k’s, ops and hits.

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: Jones IMO

8:08
Hello jacob: Does Deivi get the call in a few days?

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: No, I think German is just going to get his start skipped and the Yankees want an extra bullpen arm

8:09
Are you buying: Thoughts on Tatis returning & producing ROS?  I was shocked seeing him taking BP after the doom & gloom a few days prior.

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: Go and listen to the recent ESPN pod with Stephania Bell.

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: The injury should be 4-6 weeks (or all season). He can come back right away but the injury could happen at anytime.

8:10
Joe: Pick one:  Greinke and Wheeler are on the wire in a12 team h2h categories league.

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: What, is there like 4 teams in the league. Both

8:11
Jim: Is Ryan McMahon a must-add? I have Mountcastle, hosmer, B Lowe, merrifield, J. Ramirez, J. Turner, and Cronenworth at his eligible positions.

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s only streamable at home IMO

8:11
jacob: wait why did someone bid $333 on jose de leon in tout…

8:12
Jeff Zimmerman: No idea

8:12
Pope: How confident are you in Yimi holding the job in MIA? 10% or more of FAAB in 15 team NFBC?

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s going to at least take that much to get him. I’m guessing more in the $250 range

8:13
Zee Germams: Is Marquez rosterable in a 12 teamer? Can’t start him at home, or the Dodgers and Padres.

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: Not really

8:13
Guest: AL only pool: Stream Gibson?

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: Someone will have to

8:14
Valuable?: Once Gonsolin returns do you see him be valuable regardless if it’s SP, or RP?

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: From what I’ve read, he’s likely going to be in the bullpen to limit his workload. I’m not sure how he’s going to be valuable in that role

8:15
Guest: SV+HLD, battle of the ‘inos – Ottavino or Trivino?

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: Otta

8:15
45 blows billygoats: Hicks is on my waiver wire. He’s hitting 3rd in the Yankee lineup. What am I missing?

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: Nope, spend away

8:16
roto time: “JD Martinez is washed” is a thing a very incorrect person said to me about 3 weeks ago.

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s driving some of my teams to the top of standings.

8:16
Guest: Drop Garrett for Clase?

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: No, Garrett could get all the Saves, Clase will get some of the Saves

8:17
Stone Cole: Cole Irvin didn’t show up on your WW list. One start this week vs. DET. AL only interest level? Thanks!

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably in an AL-only. I’m staying away until he’s had at least a couple good starts.

8:18
Mike E P: Does HOENER Cubs possibly coming up interest you??

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: If he is coming up, sure.

8:19
Shaun: Need to pick a 1B from Lowe, Candelario, or Dozier. Anyone here stand out above the others?

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: No, play the weekly matchups

8:19
Guest: Are you buying Naquin’s small sample juicy red statcast page?

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: Not at all and the Reds have a loaded OF. And it’s Tyler Naquin

8:20
Biggy: Do you like Kyle Lewis to build on his rookie year and be a positive difference maker this season?

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: No I don’t. I think he was a little luck and regression could hit him hard

8:21
Matt: Are you holding onto Sims in 12 teamers? (NFBC OC) Or move on for another spec play?

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably moving on. He’s not been that good

8:21
roto time: Kelenic over Mullins?

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: Kelenic but both should be rostered

8:22
45 blows billygoats: Cahna or Hicks, then? Pick 1 from waiver.

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: Canha

8:22
Corey: AL only Weekly lineup, Dunning has a two start week. Who do you bench for him this week Luzardo vs. ARZ or Civale vs. CWS?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: Civale

8:22
Guest: Is Knebel the guy to own for LAD saves?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: No

8:23
fomo time: Been eyeing desclafani and weaver this year but didn’t pull the trigger early enough to stash them before today. Do you think they’ll be any good ROS?

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: I think it’ll be hit and miss. They are not starters to use everyweek. Maybe 50% of the time

8:23
Guest: Who are you targeting in trades as a buy low opportunity? Would you go after Ohtani (Pitcher)?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m looking at need right now or selling from surplus. In one league I hit on 3 closers.

8:24
Chris: Franmil was dropped in my league. How much of a $100 budget would you go?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: 50%

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: I could see it even be more

8:25
Sir Farts A Lot: Rank ’em: Dunning, Canning, and Houck.

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: You got them

8:25
If the Richard Fitts: Waiver wire pickup for traditional 5×5, Solano or Lowrie?

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: Lowrie for me

8:26
ralph: Have your thoughts changed much on Kyle Isbel? 47.6% K rate chasing you off any potential upside?

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: It is. I’ve moved him to my bench this week as a my backup OF and then will move on

8:26
Guest: Jeff Hoffman or Wade Miley in a 15 team league? thanks

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: Long term, Hoffman

8:27
Hello jacob: Villar or Luis Guillorme with JD out?

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: From what I’ve read, it sounds like a time share

8:27
Robert D: Josh Fuentes or Nate Lowe in deep 12 team league? Thanks.

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: Lowe but look to add Fuentes when he is at home

8:27
Guest: can i get a gauge of your patience level for bobby dalbec?

8:28
Jeff Zimmerman: Stretches like this one were expected. There is just no way to know when it’ll end

8:29
Guest: prefer any of j. sheffield, desclafani, cueto?

8:29
Jeff Zimmerman: Cueto for the next two weeks, decent matchups

8:30
Jeff Zimmerman: 1 for sure, I’m not sure on the other two

8:30
gm: Adames or Simmons as SS depth in 16 tm daily OBP / TB league?

8:30
Jeff Zimmerman: Simmons for now. He’s hitting near the top of the lineup with the bopper after him

8:30
Pops: Berti gonna play enough to justify a bench spot for speed?

8:30
Jeff Zimmerman: No

8:30
JP: Ahmed or Newman? 15 team NFBC

8:31
Jeff Zimmerman: Ahmed probably, I don’t like either choice

8:31
2b Ranks: Lux, Madrigal, Arraez the right ranking?

8:31
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

8:32
Jeff Zimmerman: Sorry, got to go and check up on the news and up my NFBC bids.

First time playing in NFBC Cutline. With with only two free agent periods (4/13 and 6/8) what is FAAB strategy. Should I increase bids for players? How much of FAAB should I maintain for second free agent period (60%).
