Sunday Night Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat

7:30
Jeff Zimmerman: Welcome

7:31
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:31
Jeff Zimmerman: Here are the winning bids in the two 15-team Tout Wars redraft leagues.

7:31
Johnny5Alive: What are we doing with jose fernandez? He gonna stay up? What bid in an NL only?

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman: 2% to 3%, I wish he were playing more. With Del Castillo off the IL, his playing time could be limited. Now, Del Castillo is a solid add in leagues where he’s catcher-qualified

7:33
Guest: What’s your balance of “won’t be fooled again” and “this time it’s real” on Jordan Walker?

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m just watching that Contact%. He needs to keep it over 70%

7:33
FACE: Standard deep 5×5 NL only roto – Palante, anything new to see here?

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: No

7:33
EarthboundMisfit: So, I dropped the ball in my 12-team OBP redraft league and wound up with Xander Bogaerts as my starting SS. He’s been trash (with the exception of today, 3/3 on my bench, ugh) and I’ve picked up Max Muncy the Younger to fill in for him. Anyone else <30% owned you’d keep an eye on? Winn and Gimenez are there but I feel they’re better real-life players than fantasy.

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: Gimenez is showing some power increase (note in today’s FAAB report). He could be this year’s Perdomo

7:35
Karl: how do we feel about TJ Rumfield? Could be be Hosmer light in a points league?

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: Volume, AVG, and 20 HR. Solid, not great

7:35
EJM: Dansby was dropped in my 16-team 6×6 (OPS) league.

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: 10% or higher bids approved

7:35
ryan: kelly (tb) baker (tb) or leiter for saves?

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: Right now I’m Leiter, Baker, Kelly

7:36
Jordan Walker: My 12 team 5×5 roto league has unlimited moves, but we only have $100 for the entire season to bid on the waiver wire. How much to spend for Jordan Walker? Would be replacing Jodh Lowe.

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: $4

7:36
Kid Charlemagne: Hi Jeff – I read your waiver wire column. Need short-term replacement for H Brown: Is Boyle # 2 on your list (CHC, @CWS) a better matchups waiver pick than Cameron (CLE, CHW); Keller (SD, WSH); Vazquez (COL, SEA); R Lopez (@LAA, MIA); Wacha (@CLE, CWS); or Grant Holmes (@LAA, MIA)?

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s Grant Holmes. He’s easily the most talented but if he went on the IL after the first pitch, I’d not be shocked.

7:37
Mike: If I have Cade Smith, do I need to add Gaddis.  Nothing seems fundamentally wrong with Smith.

7:38
Jeff Zimmerman: I hate handcuffs of my own RPs. Too safe. I aim for other handcuffs and try to get an extra closer. Play to win.

7:39
Steve: buying the breakout seasons for J Walker and Cam Smith?

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

7:40
Guest: Rhys > Liam?

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: Close

7:40
Guy: NL only 11 team 5×5 – how much would you put on Jansen Junk? $100 FAB, $0 bids allowed

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: 5%

7:40
Mike: Where would Cam Smith and Max Muncy (A’s) have ranked on your list from this morning.  Is Cam approaching Jordan Walker based on potential and results?

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: Near the top on upside.

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: Follow that Contact%

7:41
ryan: matt chapman still reliable for 25+ hrs this year or is c. walker a better bet?

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: Walker is good right now

7:43
Boyled: Would L. Henderson rank higher than Boyle if he were staying up?

7:43
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

7:44
Guest: Kiim have a chance at FT work?

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: Which Kim

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: If LAD, little

7:45
Kyle: Drop caglianone for J walker? Standard points league

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: No, for now.

7:46
Dave: release O’Hoppe for Hicks?  2 catcher OBP format

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: I am, but might not spend what it takes to get him

7:47
Porcho Villa: Would you drop Randy Vasquez for Taj or Junk?

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: These guys are so close. If you have to choose, look at their schedules

7:48
ashtray: O’Hoppe or Jeffers as Catcher 2 in an OBP/SLG league?

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: Hell, those are the my catchers #1 and #2 in one league

7:48
duff: drop kikuchi for either Hancock or Vasquez in a 15tm H2H? if yes, what % should I bid?

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, both may be pushing 50% or higher.

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: One note, I think there are going to be some pitchers added on the cheap this week, and others will cost a ton. Get your guys because the wire might dry up.

7:50
Snuffy Stirnweiss: What is your tolerance for keeping Barger in a 12 team OBP? Thinking of bidding 7% on Walker to replace him

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: Not much. His playing time was drying up before the injuries.

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: Add Walker

7:52
Brian: who do you prefer in a qs league: Weathers, Early, Lowder, Detmers, Nelson

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: Early and Detmers

7:52
Guest: Needed another SP, I traded Keashall for Nolan McLean.  How’d I do?  Also, Grant Holmes or Joey Cantillo this week +

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: Solid. The key to any trade, did your team improve?

7:53
Chucky: Milwaukee Brewers, smartest team in baseball? Follow their lead and swap out Durbin for Renfiglio?

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: I want neither.

7:54
Pee Wee: Am I expecting too much from catchers  Basallo and KC’s Jensen?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: You should have expected one of the young guys to bust. Getting both means you’ll be hunting for at least one catcher.

7:55
Cliff Claven: How many weeks until the wire bereft of difference-makers? 1-2. Seems mostly pitching available this week.

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: There are still solid SP adds. I think some position-player situations will clarify as the better hitters start to play more.

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: It usually takes a month for the low hanging fruit to be taken and then the grind begins

7:57
OnlyALConundrum: 12 team 5×5 AL Only.  What percent of FAAB to go after Erceg?

7:58
Jeff Zimmerman: 30%? 50%? I’m a little surprised Erceg was not rostered

7:58
Mike: Waiver claim for Didier Fuentes in an NL only this week or too early?

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: I have no idea. I really don’t

7:59
Daro: have a logjam with Seiya returning. 12 Teams Keepers league. Who should I drop: Cole Young, Jorge Polanco or Durbin? Jordan Walker, Laureno, B Reynolds or Laureano?

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: One of the two Laureano’s. Or Polanco

8:00
Madalena: The less hyped Muncy appears to be doing a lot of different and interesting things across categories.  Do you prefer him over Rocchio in AL only 5×5 roto?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

8:00
Clueless: Context is an 18 team league with 28 player rosters, conventional roto categories 5 X 5.   Both Hunter Brown and Cade Horton are injured.   Which players do you expect to fill their rotation roles?   I would be grateful for any suggestions for their replacement in this deep league.

8:01
Jeff Zimmerman: Sounds like Arrigetti (sp?) in HOU. Talk is Ben Brown or Rea in Chicago

8:01
whatever catchers: Drop for Liam Hicks: Bo Naylor? O’Hoppe?  OPB roto.  fwiw Naylor got hit in the nuts with a foul tip and stayed in the game today but it’s not exactly a point in his favor.

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: I could see the move, but the Kirk manager is going to be desperate and bid up Hicks. Don’t make it a Pyrrhic victory for a catcher you drop once he cools down

8:03
Royal: over 162 game schedule what do you see as Moniak’s ceiling and floor in 5×5 roto and which of the two do you think he lands closer to over full season?

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: One note, the NL west is loaded with RHP, so he’ll play quite a bit, so I might go higher than the projections.

8:05
Moises Ballestros: Is his bat worth one of two Utility spots for a roster in a deep 12 team 5×5 trad roto (one catcher league)? He will also be a back-up to Rutschman. Ballestros is competing with batters like Frelick and JLowe.

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: For now, yes, stick with him. If the playing time and/or production doesn’t come, move on in a week or two.

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: Play the unknown possible upside

8:06
Sean Burke: You like him in a deep AL-Only? Looked good against Toronto and his (small sample) underlying numbers are pretty strong….

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s a solid add. The White Sox’s schedule is soft coming up.

8:07
Emerson Hancock: What % in an AL-Only are you putting on Hancock if you just lost Hunter Brown?

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: 10%?

8:07
Don: need to drop 1 – Rafaela or L Garcia (WAS)?

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: Garcia

8:08
Some Guy: Tough week for pitching injuries. Do Woods Richardson, Rocker, Povich, or Kremer have any value in AL only? Any of those you prefer over the others?

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d take a shot on Kremer or Rocker

8:09
Lazy Poet: AL only 5×5 roto – please rank the folllowong for OF5…. Lukes, Isbel, Kayfus (I know, I know – but I prefaced it as Al only!)

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: Isbel ……………………..Kayfus, Lukes

8:09
Tristans’s: Just lost Everson Peirera in a league where Everson Peirera is worth rostering. I know it’s a VERY deep question for the chat – but anything more than a buck on Tristan Gray or Tristan Peters?

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe with Peters, min bid

8:09
Jane: Hi Jeff! Will C Estevez become a closer again this year or is he a drop? Thank you.

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: Drop for me

8:09
kuff6: Need some roster space on my 12 team 5×5. Who is more droppable: Sproat or Will Warren?  Thanks!

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: Sproat

8:10
SP Sunday?: Did anybody (SP) move up or down your list based on their pitching performances today?

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: SLADE is up but I’m unsure how much. I didn’t get to dive in as much as normal because it’s holiday

8:11
Redbull 44: What role do you see Haesong Kim playing with the Dodgers? Thank you.

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: Backup infielder with 2-3 starts a week at most

8:11
Timmy: If grant Taylor gets SP eligible with all this opening he could be useful in a daily moves league to sit in an SP spot and accumulate stats?

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: Absolutely

8:12
Guest: Is Walker an upgrade over Contreras (BOS) in a shallow league?

8:12
Jeff Zimmerman: No, hold Contreras

8:12
Bryan Baker: How “must add” is he in AL Only saves+holds? What % are you putting down for him?

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s a must-ad in any league that counts Saves. That said, he’s a min bid guy right now

8:13
Mick: Thanks for doing these, Jeff…what are your thoughts on Taj Bradley and Kyle Harrison?

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: I like them both and they should be rostered by some team in every league

8:13
Redbull 44: Do you think Ryan Pepiot is activated this week? Thank you.

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: No idea

8:14
Peter: Will Bryan King be closing for Houston? It seems like Abreu has fallen out of favor and keeps getting rocked.

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s worth picking up for teams who need Saves

8:14
Duck: Are you picking up Spencer Arrighetti as the likely replacement for Hunter Brown in the rotation?

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: I think there could be better options than Arrighetti. I just want add the best one.

8:15
Hill: Need save help……In an OC, how much does Baker (TB) go for?

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: 2% to 3%

8:15
Dave: Bryce Elder worth a shot?

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: Comes down to the other options, but sure

8:16
Cecconi: New(ish?) cutter looked good today, you buying in on this guy?

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: Right now, he’s sitting at a 4.58 xFIP. I’m not buy it. Roster and bench

8:17
Tim: May I get Steamer comps on Jose Fernandez? I already had Nunez as my dynasty backup to Betts but took a flier anyway.  thanks!

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: Not good, ranked around 800th best hitter

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman:

8:18
Guestie: Is N. Nunez a better option for SB’s than Hamilton or McCarthy?

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, based on playing time. McCarthy has been losing playing time and moved down the order. McCarthy’s value might be up with Freeman getting hurt again.

8:19
Peter: Cole Young,  Garrett Mitchell, Jakob Marsee and Jordan Walker are available on waivers. Who is the pick up?

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: Marsee? Enjoy your 4-team league and pick up Marsee

8:20
Percy Miracles: Would you drop Sheehan for anyone on your list?

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s getting close. Sheehan is looking to be a pain in the ass and I might manage another arm

8:21
Stowers: Worth a 10% bid in OBP roto 5×5? Closer to 15%?

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: Close, maybe a little less

8:22
Hank: Where are you on Jack Leiter after these starts? Is he a better option than someone like Nola or Baz if all are on the wire right now?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: He looks good but might be even with the other two.

8:22
GP: Strider was cut last week in 15 Team NFBC, would you be aggressive in adding him? Or is he washed?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d put in a decent bid, not too much. He’s been a 4.62 ERA and 1.41 WHIP arm over the past two seasons

8:24
Johnny5Alive: I know it’s just April. But I’m a super deep league where there’s nothing on the wire, how early might you decide that it’s not going to work the way you planned and start thinking about next year?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: Late May

8:24
Guest: How concerning is the Horton news?

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: Very, it sucks and I’m holding until I hear more

8:25
coach frank: is kim (LAD) startable in 14 team mixed h2h? what does a bid look like for him?

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: No

8:25
gonyr: Jared Jones worth speculating on?

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: No, not right now with the other WW options.

8:25
Guest: Need to drop someone. Is it Early, B Chandler, McLain, or Caissie?

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: One of the two arms

8:26
gonyr: Any chance D. Beavers contributes in a meaningful way this year?

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: He needs regular playing time to be fantasy relevant

8:26
Guest: what percentage of FAAB to hid on Emerson Hancock in 12 team online championship?

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: I think the bidding will be all over the place, from $100+ to $1. I’m righting the middle with other options available.

8:28
Jeff Zimmerman: That’s it for tonight. Good luck with your leagues.
