G Money: I am in a 16 team points league. Not much pitching on the wire. See that H Waldrep is coming up after striking out 10 in his last outing. Should he be left on the wire and monitored or just forgotten about? Thx

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d likely ignore. Both in some leagues, you have to take that chance

Stanley Streamer: Blake Snell is stashed on IL. He will likely return next weekend. I have Gore, Olson, Castillo, Rodon, Senga, McGreevy, and Singer rostered. Drop one of those for Snell or keep what I have? 12 team QS Thanks!

Booth: Chapman hurt. Not sure how much I believe his injuries are “minor”. Pickup Bednar and drop Chapman for SV+HLD??

Jeff Zimmerman: Close call because Bednar will be traded and most contending teams have good closers. Bednar might be out of a job in a few days.

James: Would you trade Cease for Reese Olson in a dynasty league with salaries? Cease is $26 and Olson is $2 and the total per team is $300

Jeff Zimmerman: Ronny this week. They other two might get traded.

Sal: Hi Jeff. Thanks for hanging in there all season. In a 15 teamer, how many FAAB dollars (out of $1000 initial budget) would you like to have after tonight’s run, ideally? How many FAAB dollars do you want to have going into September?

Jeff Zimmerman: I think there are two camps. Those teams in the money and those trying to catch up.

Jeff Zimmerman: Historically, if I’m winning, I want $15 per week for the last month or ~$60.This allows $2 bids (need that extra dollar since you’re winning and will lose the tie breaker) and several moves a week as teams shut down players. $60 and a lead is normally secure.

Jeff Zimmerman: If behind, you’re looking to get a difference maker(s) so spend for the top guys but allowing $6 per week to make IL moves. Since your behind, use the $1 tie-breaker to your advantage

brushback33: If I need power, is Stanton worthy of a pickup in 12-tm OC?

Jeff Zimmerman: Probably, there aren’t many options out there

Jeff Zimmerman: Dominguez will likely be traded (#27 on MLBTR list). Lee is worth adding for the week

Spec Adds: Should I try to pounce on “next guy up” Closer/RPs for cheap in anticipation or wait for the deadline fallow out?

Jeff Zimmerman: The deeper the league, the more you need to take chances before the deadline. After it’s over, there will be many options to fill in any of your misses.

Jaxon Browne: Looking ahead to the dog days in West Sacramento, should JT Ginn’s performance this week be a signal that he may be more than a streamer and actually worth holding in a 15 team points format where his dual eligibility is useful.  How would you compare him to Cantillo, Schlittler and B Walter rest of season?

Jeff Zimmerman: Ginn is fine streamer and might be in line with Cantillo.

Jeff Zimmerman: On Walter, I think he’s a drop in all but keeper leagues with several other Astros starters about to come off the IL

Mike: what to do with Butler?  BA is a consistent drain, but he does generate good counting stats?  Sit for some like Hays or Anthony?

Jeff Zimmerman: You need to figure out which one will help your team the most

Cheese: Are you considering starting pitchers prior to the deadline versus after, with possible starts skipped or rotation adjustments after trades?

Jeff Zimmerman: I’ll worry about the effects of the deadline once it has passed. If I have arms going later in the week, I might lean to talent over matchup.

bdubs: Signs of life from Michael Harris ll…jump on it now or need more sustained production?

Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not buying yet, but I’m encouraged

Cheese: Nick Pollock really likes Schlittler, and provides good details/stats as to why.  Why are you so down on him?

Jeff Zimmerman: His 1.55 WHIP is doing as much ratio damage as a 5.81 ERA. I’m trying to win leagues and Schlittler isn’t helping

Guest: How do you like to use your bench for the second half of the season? I tend to think you can’t have enough pitching, especially in weekly formats where you can hunt two starts. But everyone else in the league seems to have at least one bench bat

Jeff Zimmerman: It all comes down to the rules. Taking a zero in hitting is terrible, so the bench bat might cover for that.

Daniel: What do you expect from Imanaga ROS? He got bombed last outing and wonder if he is going to regress. Seemed to be outperforming his metrics

AL Only Roto: How much % you spending on Ryan McMahon in 5×5 roto (batting avg league?) Especially if you badly need a bat and are in the hunt?

Jeff Zimmerman: A decent amount. Really depends on my FAAB and my opponents
