Sunday Night Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat

7:30
Jeff Zimmerman: Welcome

7:31
Jeff Zimmerman: First, my internet has been on and off. If I disappear, it’s likely the cause.

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman: Here are the winning bids in the two 15-team Tout Wars leagues.

7:32
Bill Warts: Thanks for the chat, Jeff. 12 team mixed would you drop Edman for McLain?

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d look at the matchups but it seems like an even trade

7:32
Brian: I have both Williams and Weaver.  Presumably, I should start Williams next week. Is that correct (Mixed Weekly 5×5 categories)

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes, for the week. I’m dealing with the ATL and CHC situations with both guys. It sucks but it sucks more missing out on a closer.

7:34
JP: Jeff as always ur opinions are most appreciated.  Would u drop Zebby (not sure if it’s worth waiting) for either Fuentes or Fitts?

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: I would for Dirty Fuentes

7:34
Painter the inside corner: Do you think the Rays will get Joe Boyle into that rotation soon? ROS, would you take him or Abel? Abel’s Ks have really dropped after that first start and all of the bad indicators have shot up…but he’s got a spot for the foreseeable future on a good team.

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: Boyle should be up. He just needs an injury.

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: As for Abel, he’s a streamer at this point. Stream for the bench in deeper leagues and from the wire in shallow leagues.

7:36
Guest: Any changes in thoughts on Bergert stuff/outlook?

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not a fan, let me see how my latest projection ranked him.

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: While a nice ERA, all the rest of his metrics point to high-4.00 ERA talent.

7:37
Ben: Schanuel showing new level up in power?  Or just a hot streak?  Thanks for the chat, Jeff.

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s showing some power, but it’s so tough to make huge power jumps. I think the power makes him startable in Roto leagues.

7:39
Brick: Best closer option for Phillies? Marlins?

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: Orion and (meet the) Faucker

7:39
Hazmat Corntail: How long of a leash is there on Josh Jung in a 14t mixed dynasty? At some point, I’ll need a drop when Yordan comes back, and Jung just seem stuck in averageishness. I also have Vargas, Bohm, Barger, Shaw, Lawlar there.

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: In a dynasty hold for now. It takes a while for guy hurt for a while to get back. I’d drop Vargas in a keeper format

7:40
JoeG14: Add Casey Schmitt 🔥for middle infield drop Matt Shaw- no power Schmitt 🔥? Mixed daily roto

7:41
Jeff Zimmerman: Schmitt might be down when Chapman returns. Possibly going to 2B. I’d stay with shaw

7:41
jonny: Jung Hoo Lee is well clear of your top guys by ownership% but what about quality? Devers addition helps and PT good — but streamable in 12s if all 5 guys atop your list are available?

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m a solid hold … one sec on him …

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s shown similar downs. Maybe use as a bench injury replacement.

7:44
Stormin Gorman: Have some weakness in the OF.  What % FAAB to go in on Profar?

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe up to 5%. I think he could be a dud and Verdugo could keep playing

7:45
Ess Pee: Looks like your (essential!) WW article preceded the Brandon Walter dud. Could you rank (or pick best and worst) of Walters, Cecconi, Giolito and Colton Gordon?

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m still all in on Walter with a 2.51 xFIP and 2.66 SIERA.

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: One sec

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: Pitchers with a >9.5 K/9, <1.00 BB/9, and >50% GB% consist of Walter and no one else.

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: Duds happen

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: You have the corrent order

7:48
Stormin Gorman: Investing at all in Scherzer or Verlander?

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: I’ll see if I join the Verlander two step

7:49
Questionable Arms: Thank you, always, Jeff for these.  What is your take on Cade Horton ROS?  Is he worthy of a spot in a keeper league?  At this point, he is either my flexible spot for weekly streamers or I have to live with his growing pains.

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: You have to hold for now.

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: The only items not liking him are projections

7:50
Bobby Digital: Strategy question: 15tm mixed auction keeper. I started the season in the basement but recently made a fast run to the middle. I am lagging in all SP categories but somehow have all the top prospects (Chandler, Burns, Boyle) and some solid arms on the IL (Grayson, Imanaga, Senga) In this case, would you freely deal prospects to try and get a top 25 bat (which I also need to keep moving up)? Or do you build up the keeper pool with an eye more to next year? I want to go for it but it also feels like a long shot. Anyway, just curious what you’d do. Thanks!

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: Sounds like you need pitching, so why trade it? I’m not sure if there is money for other places or only 1st place counts but I’d likely hold for now

7:52
Mr. Fister: Everyone said Semien was toast and to jump off the train.  Glad I didn’t. I know it’s hindsight 20/20, but the alternatives were never great

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: 100%. He’s had similar drops. Rolling graphs are great at putting bad starts in prespective.

7:53
Guest: Caglione over Christian Walker and Beck over Hung Soo Lee?? cats lg.

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: No on both for me

7:54
GP: Is Isaac Collins from MIL a thing in 15 teamers?  Playing and producing right now. Would replace G Lux in my lineup.

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: I think some team in 15’s needs to add Collins. Lux is playing and producing. That’s a tough call

7:54
Chacho: Stash NA Chandler Simpson or Sheehan?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: Sheehan, yes

7:55
Redbull44: Has Giolito finally turned the corner? Do you trust him ROS?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: No corner, he’s a streamable option.

7:55
Dwight Howard’s Boyfriend: Would you rather have Adley @$10 or Rice @1 in a 5×5 dynasty, 2 catcher league?

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: No idea, I like both.

7:56
Redbull44: Is Bryce Harper’s injury worse than diagnosed? do you see him living up to his second round draft status the rest of the year?

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s killing me in one league. Just no 1B on the wire

7:57
Just Joe: Is Gipson-Long worth rostering?

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: It comes down to league depth. 15’s for sure. Anything shallower than that, he’s streamer

7:58
Guest: I need to chose one of Agustin Ramirez or Goldy as my 1B and drop the other for a SP. It’s a 14-team H2H points league so volume is important. I’m leaning Agustin due to the NYY logjam but I could regret dropping Goldy when the inevitable Stanton injury happens again. Who would you go with? Thx Jeff

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: Hold Goldy for another week. Stanton is fresh, lets see how often he starts.

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: Also, Rice only has a 54 wRC+ in June

8:00
Stormin Gorman: Willing to move on from Michael Harris for Victor Scott?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: No but maybe.

8:00
Gavin Williams: In an AL Only, is it time to quit on Gavin Williams? Might be able to get an outfielder like Evan Carter or Josh Lowe. Would leave my rotation with likes of Bubic, Olsen, Pepiot, and WW types like Walker, Gordon, Cecconi…

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: Sure, if you can get Lowe

8:01
Oof, OF: Hi! AL Only OBP league. Could you choose from J Clase, Canzone, Nolan Jones?

8:01
Jeff Zimmerman: Canzone for this week

8:01
BP: Have a totally OK MI in a 15 (Albies, Arraez, Meidroth). Worth waiting on Royce Lewis (3B but can do some shuffling) or Gelof if I have the space?

8:02
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably no, but it comes down to the available options

8:02
Nate: Gusto appears to have greatly reduced the BBs. His upcoming schedule is not great. But in a deep points league where the wire has few usable arms, how does Gusto compare to other SP RPs Ryne Nelson and Janson Junk?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: Nelson has a nice schedule coming up over the next 2 weeks: CWS, SF, KC

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go Nelson, Guston, Junk

8:04
Guest: What’s the excitement like for Chase Burns? Is he an add over guys like Ryne Nelson, Ryan Gusto?

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: For sure. Burns seems to be the last non-closer FAAB option this year. I didn’t think he’s come up this year but oops. It’s going to be crazy when and where he’s available.

8:06
Guest: Is Mike Trout cooked?

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s had a lot of injuries.

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d buy in if he can stay healthy

8:07
Granted: Grant Taylor throws hard. In a league with a starts limit, is the fact that he’s been used as an opener too risky, or is he worth it for the k’s and possible saves? (I can sit for opening days)

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: You can’t use him when he’s the starter.

8:07
AL Only: Better add, Fitts or Winans?

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: A middle reliever

8:07
Marcelo Mayer: Am I a better player ROS than Mike Toglia?

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: No.

8:08
KCBBq: 12 team AL only H2H 5×5 keeper league. Down to $8 FAAB from 100. Is it worth throwing a buck or two for Yoshida? Also would you drop Little for Lauer (if I can get him for $1)? My SPs are Flaherty. Rodon, Ryan and Cecconi. I have Bieber and McClanahan on reserve in hopes they can give me something positive. We have a 750 IP min by Sep 1. If I don’t add another SP it’ll be close.

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: First, you go through some FAAB, calm down

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: $1 on Yoshida

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not sure I’d bet on Lauer

8:10
Brian: Are Edman and McLain better than B Lowe?

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: No

8:10
G Money: 16 team points league question, three pitchers who had a good week and one who still has good ratios, just gave up some gopher balls, so how do you rank these four: L Ortiz, Cecconi, Soroka, and B Walter? Should all be on your bench if you could find a spot?

8:11
Jeff Zimmerman: Walker, SLADE, Soroka, Ortiz

8:11
The Miz: Is José Soriano doing something different lately to keep this recent hot streak up?

8:12
Jeff Zimmerman: A 11.5 K/9 in June helps (6.0 K/9 in May)

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: His sinker results are nuts. 7% SwStr%, 75% GB%

8:13
juice: chase burns or manaea?

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: Burns

8:13
Need SB help: Are any of Tyler Tolbert, Jonatan Clase, DaShawn Keirsy, Miles Mastrobuoni worth more than min bid in deep AL-only roto? (I have to catch up in SB) Think you could rank ’em for me without getting nauseous?

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: You’re really digging, and nothing sticks out at this point.

8:15
Joe: Toglia or Tyler Freeman ROS. Neither position of need, just trying to fill in a UTL spot

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: Freeman, I think his skill play up in COL. Toglia would K and hit HR anywhere

8:15
Sal: Thanks for Sunday night chats, Jeff. Are you going to roll out Clayton Kershaw in Colorado this week in a 15 team league?

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

8:16
Canny: Is Flores a drop in 12 team mixed?

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: He might even be in 15’s

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: The lack of at-bats sucks

8:16
Finn: Thanks as always, Jeff, need a catcher with Herrera getting hurt…do you prefer Baldwin or Ramirez?

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: Ramire

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: z

8:17
Rice: Do we like Rice more now that there seems to be attempts to get him behind the plate? Or is he a tough roster ROS with the playing time issues?

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: I think the games needed are key. With 5 G at C needed, he’s rosterable. With 10, hold off.

8:18
Solano: Got him for a buck and he’s had a great week – hooray for me,  right?

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

8:18
tximistaliza: will the Orioles call up Basallo this week?

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: No idea. I’m like 0 for 47 in trying to guess what they’ll do

8:19
Bobby Digital: Let’s say I broke open the Old Rip Van Winkle and threw $4 of my remaining $25 on Toglia. I need offense. How mad will I be tomorrow.

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: There are worse decisions. Now, I’d like to try a sip or two of that Rip. I made a Rusty Nail tonight, trying to finish up a bottle of Cedar Ridge Rye.

8:21
Guest: start Carroll in weekly if there’s no news before set?

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: I think there will be news. At this point it’s either the IL or start him

8:22
Mick: Thanks for these, Jeff…could you rank Walter, Giolito, Fuentes and Abel?  Need to drop one.

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: Giolito or Abel

8:22
KCBBq: Drop Bo Naylor for Caratini in 12 team AL only H2H 5×5 using OBP? It’ll cost me $1 FAAB and I’m down to 8.

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: No

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: You need the moves for IL stints

8:22
roost: Who would you rather have ROS – Bibee or Warren?

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s closer than I thought but Warren

8:23
Eflin: What do you expect from him ROS? Got him in AL-Only so I can’t just drop him outright but WOOF

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: I drop is in order but depends for who

8:23
Sal Bando: Does Walter stick n the rotation?  If he does, is it worth dropping any/all of Taillon, Lugo, Kershaw or Peterson for him in 10 team roto?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: Hold with what you have for now

8:24
Auction Calc Q: I love the Auction Calculator sooo much. But is there a way to do At Bat Neutral projections? They would be useful for deciding about a 1/2-week pick up.

8:25
Jeff Zimmerman: No really. I pay for Razzball for the partial week projection. There has been talk of including 1/2 week projections, but they are down on the to-do list.

8:26
SG: The Casparius usage is so strange. Just follows Ohtani each time. Picked up wins each game.  Do you think Casparius ever gets a spot of his own?  At some point Ohtani may go 5 or 6.

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: Not for a while. I think it’s perfect for LA

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m going to shut it down. Lots of the same questions I’ve already answered. Enjoy a down week to bid up for Burns next week.
