Mike: Gausman dropped in our 12 team league (prior to his gem earlier this week). Mirage or make a big bid? Have $75 FAAB left.  Would drop a MR like Erceg (holds don’t count). Thanks as always!

Jeff Zimmerman: In a 12, probabably $5 of your budget.

The Batman: Is Toglia a drop in a 12 team 5×5 with Busch, France, and Flores available for a CI slot? I hate dropping a mid round pick early but there’s not much redeemable in his profile right now. I know he started last year similarly, but yikes.

Jeff Zimmerman: With those WW options, just stream the ones with the week’s best matchup

Adenolith: In something as shallow as 8 teams, how many spots are you reserving for streaming? Right now I move in 2 SP a week, but wondering if I could be more agressive.

Jeff Zimmerman: You’re probably close, but you could move it up to three or even four. Do be set on an exact number. Some weeks it might be none.

Bob: I added Meidroth to replace Cronenworth based on your list. Do you think Meidroth might outperform Cronenworth after Cronenworth comes back?

Jeff Zimmerman: We’ll see. Tough call right now

SP Nightmares: My pitching has been a nightmare in 12 team NFBC so far. How FAAB heavy would you go for an Easton Lucas or a Liberatore? I like them both a lot and feel like bids could be strong this week.

Jeff Zimmerman: I went on the lower end in 12’s because there were so many decent options. Targetting the pair is fine move

Bobby Digital: Thanks for doing these! Curious how you’d approach this. 15tm mixed roto league, auction keeper. My team is currently buried. I’m not worried yet but need a plan – even if it’s to sit tight. My offense sucks mostly because of star underperformance (Vlad, Harris, William Contreras) and injuries. I did come in a little light figuring I could fix it during the season but the wire is the worst I’ve ever seen it. My pitching sucks because I overindexed on cheap contracts for injured guys (Rodriguez, Schmidt) and MiL (Chandler, Q Priester, Zebby). Would you hold steady or try to deal one of the pitchers for a bat before they’re called up? Or something else?

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d wait a few more weeks to see if things turn around.

Guest: ROS, stick with Victor Scott or pick up Jung Hoo Lee? SB, Rs and AVG are the priority in 7X7 H2H cat

Jeff Zimmerman: If both are WW options, just stream them depending on their opponents.

Scott: NL only 5×5. My arms are bad. Have Priester and Cabrera available on waivers. Which two, if any, of Trevor Williams, Randy Vasquez, and Kyle Hart would you drop?  And what % of FAAB for those two?  Thanks

Jeff Zimmerman: All three can be dropped for this pair. In an NL only, the bids might be high for both in the 10% to 20% range

Randy Choate: Max bid you’re com for Easton Lucas you’re going in 15 teamers?

Jeff Zimmerman: The two tout wars bids were mixed, and that’s what I expect to happen in other leagues. The average was $30. With several options, I’m going low and just saving my money for later.

Vader: Would rather take a shot on Kahnle or Santana if you needed saves?

Jeff Zimmerman: Santana

Mick: Thanks, as always, Jeff.  Tough choices…do you favor Wesneski, Springs or Buehler, and how about Taylor Ward or Jordan Walker?

Jeff Zimmerman: Not Buehler. Springs otherwise but close with Wes. Ward.

AL only OF: 4/5 of my outfield in 12 team AL only roto is on the IL. My best outfielder right now is Kyle Isbel. I gotta fill two OF spots. What percentage should I bid on Greg Jones, M. dubon, Angel Martinez, Drew Waters? Any of them worth more than a buck?

Jeff Zimmerman: Min on all

yinyang: I need OBP and runs, and speed in my 5×5 12 team categories league. Jung-hoon Lee is available. Should I pick him up (dropping Roden) to boost OBP and possibly runs?

Jeff Zimmerman: Yes. I don’t get how Lee is on waivers

LaBamba2168: Do you think Zebby Matthews is on the verge of being called up?  Zebby or Festa, ROS?

Jeff Zimmerman: The Twins have come out declared Festa will start on Wendesday and no Zebby for now

Tyler Hieneman: Worth more than $1 in a 2 catcher 12 team Al only roto?

Slider: I have a glut of shortstops (in 10 team league): Perdomo, Wilson, Adames, Correa. The latter two are off to really cold starts. The former two are hot—and Perdomo especially has had great at bats. Keep 2. Which should I trade/drop? (First one time fantasy player)

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d drop Wilson. Also, don’t be afraid of drops. If you don’t make some bad ones, you are grinding enough. Especially in a 10 team league. You should be looking to drop 4 to 5 players each week.

BronxBomberz60: Who’s the add in Milwaukee if Megill is out? Mears, Payamps or Uribe

Festa: How much of a $100 budget are you bidding on him in AL only (12 teams)?

Jeff Zimmerman: 10 to 20%. Maybe less if you need the $$ to make moves later

G Money: N Marte – can he carve out some playing time or has he only started because CES is banged up. Pick up and bench or monitor – in 16 team league. Thx

Jeff Zimmerman: I think he’s only playing because of CES being hurt. He was on the majors for several days and didn’t get one at-bat

Shane Smith: Do you believe my start, and can I keep it going?

Jeff Zimmerman: I think he’s a 4.00 ERA pitcher looking at his projections and ERA estimators. That seems about right

Steve: Brandon Lowe or Maikel Garcia as 2b fill in? H2h

Jeff Zimmerman: I saw one place put up a huge number. I think there are comparable bats on the wire and he’ll just be a streamer in OC’s. $20 to $30

Ed: In a 14 team 5×5, is it worth holding onto a struggling guy like Andrew Vaughn or should I cut him for guys like Ty France or Gavin Sheets?  Thanks for your help!

Jeff Zimmerman: Vaughn has been up against solid arms, while France had a cupcake schedule. I’m dropping France to add Bell (at COL) or Vaughn.

Guest: E. Lucas, L. Ortiz (CLE), Ginn… who do you like short-term? Long-term?

Jeff Zimmerman: Ortiz and Ginn first, see what they can do. If nothing, add the closer spec

Aaron: Thoughts on Norby? Did not prioritize 2B and looking for some options with Cronenworth on shelf.

Jeff Zimmerman: I’m not a fan. Iglesias (Cronenworth’s replacement) is a decent option.

Luis L Ortiz: LL Ortiz got a bunch of k’s suddenly. Is he turning things around, or still below Shane Smith et al.

Jeff Zimmerman: It’s so tough to rank guys with one start turning around a season.

Guest: 11 team nl only, how much for Noelvi?

Jeff Zimmerman: Not much, he won’t play once CES is back.

Jon: Is gonsolin worth a stash at this point.   Deep 12 team league

Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

Jeff Zimmerman: If a team has room, add him

Drew: Do you think the Yankees will still get every day ABs for Rice, once Stanton returns?

Jeff Zimmerman: You assume everyone else stays healthy. If everyone is not hurt, Rice’s playing time will suffer

Guest: Jose Miranda worth holding onto in AL only or cut bait at this point?

Jeff Zimmerman: It comes down to your bench size but I’m guess it’s fine to cut him

Andrew: What % of my FAAB on Roupp in a 12-team redraft?

Jeff Zimmerman: I think it could be high, it’s crazy that he’s still out there

Guest: Who do the Cubs turn to with Steele down for the count? Horton, Wicks, or unknown pitcher guy?

Jeff Zimmerman: I’m guess it will eventually be Wicks. I haven’t looked when he threw last

Drbn8r: Thinking about a bourbon and burn. What bourbon do you recommend while I wait for NFBC results.

Guest: Does Jake meyers glove keep him in the lineup everyday ?

Jeff Zimmerman: Yes and his bat hasn’t been that bad. Watch Melton’s status. With Smith struggling, the team might give Melton a chance

Josh J.: Howdy! I am looking to replace Steele in a 15-team QS mixed league with relatively thin pitching on waivers. Best options to my eye appear to be Ben Brown, Matt Liberatore, Luis Ortiz and Osvaldo Bido. How would you rank that group for ROS?  Thank you for your time with this, as always!

Jeff Zimmerman: Right now, I’d go with Bido. He has the CWS next week and a nice two-step the week after that. If you plan on just stashing, go with Brown

Vic: 15 Tm Mixed.  Liberatore or Nick Martinez as a drop for David Festa ?

Jeff Zimmerman: Martinez but it could be a huge mistake

Tino: How much of a priority add is Angel Martinez?

Jeff Zimmerman: Low, he’s only playing because Thomas is hurt

Longhorn Leghorn: Graham Ashcraft has looked like a different dude in short outings. Is his future at the back-end, or does Tito stick with Diaz when he comes back?

Jeff Zimmerman: Tito doesn’t care if Diaz closed before, he’ll go with the guy getting the job done

Guest: This early in the season, what do you look at when analyzing potential breakouts like T. Soderstrom, K. Campbell, etc.? Relatedly, when do stats like barrel rate, hard hit%, and strikeout rate start to produce some signal?

Jeff Zimmerman: For hitters, I want to see they swinging hard while maintaining their swinging-strike rate.

Jeff Zimmerman: Lots of time, a batter will sacrifice one for the other. When they do both, good things happen

15 Team Trawlin’: Thoughts on some deep league MI guys — Thomas Saggese, Nick Allen, Kyle Farmer, Edouard Jullien?  I kinda like Saggese if hes going to be a starter… am I crazy?

Jeff Zimmerman: Saggese is the one to add for now. We have a good idea of who the others are.

Vader: Looking for the best season long pickup in H2H Jeff, how would you rank E Cabrera, Leiter, Lucas, Boyd, B Chandler

Jeff Zimmerman: Boyd, Lucas, doesn’t matter about the other three. None of these are long-term solutions and should be streamed

Come back, Shane: Shane Smith lived up to your sentiments with another solid outing and poor k/bb numbers. I shouldn’t fall for it, right? My choices are him, Festa, Povich…

Jeff Zimmerman: Festa and Povich are better options.

Guest: Trying to decide between Ohtani and Schwarber in my UT spot – who you got?

Jeff Zimmerman: These guys are all close. I know Verlander has nice matchups next week. Stream the matchups

Redbull44: Is Garrett Mitchell worth holding on to in a 14+ league? I don’t imagine him ever playing vs a lefty?

Jeff Zimmerman: You can move on from him

Dave in slc: Is your article based on your preferred ranking for pickup or something else? I noticed yiu have Lucas higher than ginn in your article but just said in this chat you’d take ginn over him..

Jeff Zimmerman: They are close and I would go with Lucas

Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go with Smith. Both teams are horrible and Cabrera has always walked too many batters

Jeff Zimmerman: I need to find another bottle of Eagle Rare. Not many around me. Mize for me, but I think others like him more.

Jeff Zimmerman: Historically, it takes two months to know for sure. In these instances, try to find a similar hitter who isn’t cold.
