Sunday Night Waiver Wire & FAAB Chat

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman: Welcome

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman: Here are the winning bids in the three 15-team Tout Wars teams.

7:32
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:33
Seth: Are River Ryan and Jose Soriano pretty much the same value? Figure Soriano is closer to an innings cap and Ryan might only last a start, but has higher upside?

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d go with Ryan

7:33
Jeff: River Ryan or Robbie Ray ROS? Ws/ERA/WHIP/Ks/SOLDs 10-team roto league

7:33
Jeff Zimmerman: Ray

7:33
Toolsy: Are you holding N Marte in 12’s? He has been awful.

7:34
Jeff Zimmerman: No, move on

7:34
Greg: 15 Team NFBC.  Have been stashing Clarke Schmidt and now Max Fried hits the IL.  Cut one or both for a waiver wire SP or middle reliever?

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: Probably hold both unless there is a decent WW option (Phillips). I’d hold Fried for a week on news

7:35
tumtum: What should our expectations be on whether Springs will have the same impact as prior to the injury?

7:35
Jeff Zimmerman: No way to know for sure but on average, pitchers will be the same with less control

7:35
Tork-Fried-Rice: Justin Foscue: any potential for fantasy noise ros?

7:36
Jeff Zimmerman: I was looking into this before the chat. Maybe. I don’t like that he’s the DH so any could be the DH if they want a break.

7:36
brushback33: 12 team OC; Drop Bobby Miller or hold on?

7:37
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d drop if there is anyone streamable on the wire.

7:37
Rizzie: Albies a drop? Anyone on Braves to target? Thanks.

7:38
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s probably a drop with Nacho Man (Nacho Alvarez Jr.) the likely replacement.

7:38
Greg: Where would Victor Robles have ranked on your waiver wire article?  Are we believing in what he’s doing? Looks like he playing every day….

7:38
tumtum: It seems Victor Robles is showing something. How should we be treating Victor Robles’ now there has been fantasy relevance so far in Seattle?

7:39
Jeff Zimmerman: I just told someone that Victor Robles was French for Tim Anderson. Oops.

7:40
Jeff Zimmerman: Robles seems to be a new hitter (better plate discipline, more power).

7:42
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s tough to know what has changed in 45 PA. One sec …

7:44
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: I was looking to see if Robles has shown a similar stretch in his career. Maybe a couple of times but it’s reaching on being an outlier.

7:45
Tork-Fried-Rice: Who do you think will have a more glorious career: J Westburg or C Rafaela?

7:45
Jeff Zimmerman: Westburg, better hitter

7:46
Jeff: Jeff- is Vodnik the new closer for the Rockies?

7:46
Jeff Zimmerman: I think so, but it is the Rockies

7:46
Dougie: Hey! firstly love the chats!  Do you think the underlying improvements for Jesus Sanchez can help him be an underrated source for everyday power ROS?

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: The big change seems to be him pulling the ball more. Hopefully it sticks

7:48
Ryan: Reese Olson.15 team. Hold or drop? Out there is Degrom, Jobe and the likes of Sears and R. Nelson.

7:48
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d hold for now. Might drop next week when all the SPs start showing up.

7:48
Tork-Fried-Rice: ROS: France or Toro?

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: Toro, France just got demoted

7:49
Brian: I need a SP in a QS league. Brayan Bello, River Ryan, Ryne Nelson or Tyler Phillips? Please and thank you.

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: Phillips or Bello

7:49
RGM: Any rumors on the extent of Reese Olson injury?

7:49
Jeff Zimmerman: None yet

7:50
$40 Pham: Thanks for these chats as always – super helpful! In my AL only when a player gets traded to the NL I get the salary back in FAAB. How do you / would you value a high $$$ player who is likely to get moved? Would you trade for one (like my namesake) if they were a solid contributor and a potential faab windfall?

7:50
Jeff Zimmerman: Sure. I looked at historic trade rates once and it’s even odds to for the player to stay in their league

7:51
Pitching Please: Is Jobe the best pitcher remaining either to come up or be available ROS?

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d bet on deGrom, Ray, and Springs first. Unless the Tiggers make a run, I expect Jobe up just the last month

7:51
Doug: I need a bat to replace Albies. Who do you like most, Jake Burger or Michael Toglia?

7:51
Jeff Zimmerman: Toglia

7:52
G Money: Smith-Sawyer started in AAA today and threw 76 pitches. Do you see him taking Fried’s spot? I can’t see Dodd going into that rotation.

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: Or they could trade for someone.

7:52
Tom: Should I drop B.Rice for Stephenson, Bailey or Moreno?

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: No

7:52
Brian: Is river ryan an add in 12 teamers?

7:52
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes to see what happens

7:53
Jay: Has Evan Phillips lost his job? Has Jose Alvarado lost his?

7:53
Jeff Zimmerman: Phillips might, he’s making it a tough decision for the team

7:53
Barty Strange: Tyler Locklear interest with full time ABs?

7:54
Jeff Zimmerman: Let me look. I saw the Ty France demotion news right before I started the chat.

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: Maybe Railey … has the team said anything

7:55
Mick: Thanks Jeff, need a second baseman…your preference among Brandon Lowe, Morel, Gorman, and Angel Martinez?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: Morel, Lowe, Martinez, Gorman

7:55
Ryan: which 2 start SP for this week, T. Anderson, Arrighetti or Taillon?

7:55
Jeff Zimmerman: Taillon

7:55
Bob: What are your expectations for Robbie Ray?

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: Lots of strikeouts and walks

7:56
Schilling & Pence: All else equal in a 12 team OPS league, who would you drop first, Eloy, Andujar, Gleyber or Winker?

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: Eloy or Gleyber

7:56
Brian: The best of this bunch: Singer, Wacha, Pfaadt, Luis Ortiz ?

7:56
Jeff Zimmerman: Pfaadt … has been all year

7:56
Jake Bloss: $5 left (don’t ask….), $0 bids allowed. AL Only (keeper), desperate for pitching, close to selling for next year anyways – should I put it all on Bloss?

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: No, go MR

7:57
BLC: Thoughts on Nacho Alvarez? Worth a spec add in 12 or 15 teasers?

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman:

7:57
Jeff Zimmerman: Ignorable. Here are Steamer600 comps.

7:58
Jeff Zimmerman: He’s projected to be worse than Adam Frazier.

7:58
Joe has left the scene: Someone dropped Matt Olson, how much FAB would you go?

7:58
Jeff Zimmerman: All of it

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: A lot with enough left to add injury replacements

7:59
Stuart: Albies replacement in deep NL only roto (four traditional categories).  X. Edwards, Nacho, Wisely, Gary Sanchez (have him on reserve and can manipulate positions).

7:59
Jeff Zimmerman: Edwards and Wisely are decent

8:00
Yankee E: Less confident for Schwellenbach after today or liked the Ks and WHIP?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: No change

8:00
Yankee E: Is Brooks Lee a drop?

8:00
Jeff Zimmerman: I wasn’t sure he was an add

8:00
Cooper Criswell: Droppable for a middle reliever?

8:01
Jeff Zimmerman: I sort of like him still. Depends on league depth.

8:01
Trey: 12-team pts league…. add Nootbar, J Yepez, or J Sanchez?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: With those options, stream the weekly matchup. This week it looks to Sanchez

8:03
Guest: Which is the better pickup Ray or Springs ros?

8:03
Jeff Zimmerman: Ray for K’s, Springs for ratios

8:04
Split: When you need saves and wins. Are you going 7/2 or 6/3? Ratios are secure. Counting stats stink.

8:04
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m going with Saves as long as I have closers. Hell, I’d go 5/4 if I had 4 legit guys. Then at some point I’d go full 9/0

8:05
Doug: Who do you like as a speculative add with Fried and Olson injuries? AJ Smith Shawver or Jackson Jobe.

8:05
Jeff Zimmerman: Jobe by a mile, I don’t think he’ll be called up. I’m not sure ASS is any good

8:05
Ethan: Can Tyler Phillips lock up the fifth spot in Philly?

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes if team admits Walker is trash

8:06
gonyr: Early reports are relatively good on the Julio Rodriguez injury. Assuming it’s just a sprain, what’s your order of preference for a week or two as a possible replacement out of Butler/Meyers/Toglia/McCarthy?

8:06
Jeff Zimmerman: You have them in order

8:06
Saves Saviors: Spec on saves with Shelby Miller or Brebbia (melted down today) or use the slot for a spot start from heaney or one of those garbage A’s?

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: If those are the options, Miller

8:07
Jay: In regards to Reese Olson, Hinch said he’d be out a while. I don’t like the sound of it so I moved on.

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: Thanks

8:07
Guest: Drop Hoffman or Fairbanks?

8:07
Jeff Zimmerman: Fairbanks

8:08
Tony 2 Chains: Scherzer has arm fatigue…would you drop him (or Baz) for R.Ray?

8:08
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m holding Scherzer for now … could be the wrong move

8:08
G Money: Who is going to replace Paddock in the Twins rotation? Festa was a disaster, Varland has a 6 ERA, could they bring up Zebby Matthews and see what he’s about? He’s been their best pitcher in the minors this year, had a good start in AAA today.

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: Festa and Varland will be the move. I’m hoping Festa gets another chance

8:09
Guest: hi Jeff, who do you think will be better ROS between Colt Keith and Jackson Chourio in categories but OBP league? Thank you

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: Keith

8:09
Spanky: My boy Pfaadt is on fire.

8:09
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes he is

8:09
Tork-Fried-Rice: Could Arrighetti have turned the corner and be fantasy relevant ros?

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s an easy solution, he needs to start throwing strikes.

8:10
Boy M. I. Confused: Do I stick with Gleyber and Dansby or cut bait on one or both to pick up Angel Martinez, Joey Ortiz or Thairo?

8:10
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m sticking with them but it might be the wrong move.

8:12
Guest: Looks Ozzie is drop in h2h cat. Is one of B. Lowe, McNeil, Edwards, Croenworth or Keith the p/u. Top 3.

8:12
Jeff Zimmerman: Keith, Crone, Edwards

8:12
JW: I traded G. Kirby for CJ Abrams because I needed the bat, but now have a hole to plug in a 12tm 5×5. Would you mind ranking these guys ROS? Thorpe, Scott, Baz, Heaney.

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: Scott, Heaney,  Baz, thorpe

8:13
Pitcher or Belly Itcher: With Senga and Glasnow to activate this week, who do I cut? Bobby Miller, Kikuchi, Dansby or Gleyber?

8:13
Jeff Zimmerman: Miller

8:14
Michael: I have two open roster spots due to injury. Which two should I add for the stretch run? Gelof, Schueman, Neto, C.Mayo, Andujar or M.Mclain.

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: McLain and Neto

8:14
Guest: is Bader playing enough or would you go Adell?

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: Bader

8:14
Daniel: AL Only – I lead in ERA and WHIP. I have Kirby, Grayson, Gilbert, Pepiot, Kremer, and J. Gray. Likely will ose Gray, Kremer at some point after free agency etc. Now just lost Pepiot. I need a deep stash. Luis Garcia or Mize are best options. Which would you take? Bunch of other scrubs are out there..

8:14
Jeff Zimmerman: Garcia by a mile knowing he might get traded

8:15
Jimmy: Hi Jeff. Do I drop Olson? If yes slim pickings   Jobe/Birdsong/Merrill Kelly/Fulmer    Thoughts  thanks

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: No

8:15
Closing Time: Do you think Tanner Scott stays in a closer role once he’s traded?

8:15
Jeff Zimmerman: I haven’t gone through each team but probably less than a 50% chance he keeps the job.

8:16
Smith-Shawver: What would you expect from Smith-Shawver, assuming he joins the Braves rotation within the next week or two?

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: I have him graded as a mid to high 4.00’s ERA talent

8:16
Jeff Zimmerman: I’m ignoring

8:16
BA or Bust: Are you buying Steven Kwan’s power surge (relative, of course)?

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: No. It’s nice but I’m not paying up for it next season.

8:17
Jackson Jobe: Will I be called up this week?

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t think so

8:17
SS75: 12 Team NFBC. Have Miller, Megill, Alvarado as closers and looking to replace Alvarado plus a speculative closer since Megill’s days are numbered, and Miller possibly gets traded.  What SP would be the drop out of M. Meyer, A. Heaney, L. Ortiz, Fedde?

8:17
Jeff Zimmerman: I hate to say it but Meyer

8:18
Red Bull 44: Do you think Angel Hernandez will hold down a permanent spot in the Guardian lineup? Or is his spot tenuous at best?

8:18
Jeff Zimmerman: If he keeps hitting, he’ll stick

8:19
Aaron: Hi Jeff, should I go with Wacha or a returning Robbie Ray rest of season redraft?

8:19
Jeff Zimmerman: Wacha for me

8:19
Jo: Time to buy back in on Adell?

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: He has a nice schedule coming up so he’ll likely good hot (i.e. face shitty pitching)

8:20
Yankee E: Robles or Brooks Lee this week?

8:20
Jeff Zimmerman: Robles.

8:21
JT: Justin Steele or Luis Ortiz ROS ?

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: Steele

8:21
Frank: Is it worth it to keep stashing casas

8:21
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

8:21
RGM: Thoughts on Mitchell Parker?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: Slowing down but still a decent streamer.

8:22
Guest: 16-team OBP keeper. I have too many OF and probably need to drop Lawrence Butler or Jesus Sanchez, two speculative guys I kinda like. Who should I drop?

8:22
Jeff Zimmerman: Sanchez if keeper

8:22
Yankee E: Ginkel or Puk in saves/holds?

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: Puk

8:23
Jay: Time to cut Dejong (AL Only OBP)? I have Caballero and Leo Jiminez.

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: It’s always time to cut Dejong

8:23
IL stash of SP: Worth dropping Buehler to stash Ray or deGrom?

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes on both.

8:23
Big d: Daniel Hudson?? Taking over for LA

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: I think it’ll be an ugly committee

8:23
Guest: Fairbanks or Estevez? (at least for the next 9 days)

8:23
Jeff Zimmerman: Fairbanks

8:24
JG: Worth to hold Joyce until the deadline?

8:24
Jeff Zimmerman: Yes

8:24
Ashtray: Just traded for Albies. Just lost Albies. Who do I turn to in an OBP/SLG? Gleyber, D Hamilton, Schumann, J Ortiz, Julien, Wenceel?

8:26
Jeff Zimmerman: My projections have it as Ortiz, Torres, then Julien

8:26
Ryne Nelson: Have I turned a corner?

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: I don’t think so. Nelson has a great fastball and nothing else. Nothing. It’s a profile that has never succeeded. Best case is a Lance Lynn clone.

8:27
Jesse Winker: Jesse Winker is strictly platooning now and has barely run since his knee injury. Drop him for Jake Meyer ?

8:27
Jeff Zimmerman: Yep

8:27
JJ: Have GLux at 2, looking at JIglesias as upgrade in FAAB, keeper 12 team mono NL league, no other owners with obvious IF needs, in 2nd place and need avg.  How’s 15% of remaining FAAB sound?

8:28
Jeff Zimmerman: I’d to 1%. Save the money for talented players.

8:28
Guest: what stats do you look at to tell if a pitcher’s gotten bad or just a rough stretch?

8:29
Jeff Zimmerman: The last three weeks (BB% and K% stabilize by then).

8:29
JJ: Thanks

8:29
Hmm: Cut Miller for Bello in 12tm? Feels like a mistake to give up on Bobby at this stage but…

8:30
Jeff Zimmerman: yes

8:30
Jeff Zimmerman: That’s it for this week. Good luck to everyone.

It’s bizarre that Noelvi Marte hit .151 with 0 walks and 15 Ks in AAA and the Reds were like “He’s ready!’
