Starting Pitcher Chart – September 14th

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Daily SP Chart archive

The chart includes their season performance, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness over the last 30 days, my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues, and then a note about them. Obviously, there are league sizes beyond those three so it’s essentially a shallow, medium, deep. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s basically a risky stream for those spots.

These are general recommendations, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. This is for standard 5×5 roto leagues. The thresholds for H2H starts are generally lower, especially in points leagues so I thought there would be more value focusing on roto.

Sorry for missing yesterday’s chart. Fell asleep on the couch watching games and had zero energy when I woke up and transferred to bed.

Starter Notes September 14, 2023

1 Eury Pérez MIA at MIL x x x 83 2.90 1.10 21% 4th/19th Had a couple bumps after his monthlong breather w/B2B 4 ER outings, but has since put together a 2.08 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 22% K-BB in his last 22 IP (4 GS)
2 Kevin Gausman TOR v TEX x x x 167 3.28 1.17 25% 17th/3rd
3 Michael King NYY at BOS x x x 83 2.82 1.13 22% 23rd/11th Has looked incredible in 3 starts (1.29 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, 32% K-BB in 14 IP) including 5 IP in each of the L2 w/79 pitches in his latest
4 Kenta Maeda MIN at CHW x x x 89 4.65 1.26 19% 24th/26th The 10 ER dud prior to his 2-month IL stint is still holding down his bottom line, but since his IL return: 3.70 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 20% K-BB in 73 IP
5 Kyle Bradish BAL v TBR x x x 145 3.03 1.09 18% 10th/10th
6 Kodai Senga NYM v ARI x x x 149 3.07 1.23 18% 25th/21st

8 Merrill Kelly 켈리 ARI at NYM x x x 154 3.16 1.19 17% 14th/22nd
9 Logan Webb SFG at COL x x 193 3.40 1.08 19% 22nd/29th Obviously Coors is scary, but I’m OK running w/him in a lot of spots
10 Reese Olson DET v CIN x x 86 4.50 1.15 17% 16th/16th Cooked the White Sox in B2B gems adding confidence to starting him down the stretch
11 Mitch Keller PIT v WSN x x 174 4.23 1.28 19% 30th/17th
12 Adrian Houser MIL v MIA x x 90 4.58 1.48 12% 29th/12th
13 Ben Lively 라이블리 CIN at DET x x 76 5.17 1.33 15% 13th/25th Ate those 13 ER at CHC 2 starts ago, but bounced back w/a solid 5.7 IP/3 ER at ARI
14 Nathan Eovaldi TEX at TOR x 127 2.90 1.07 16% 7th/6th Limited to just 47 pitches in his last outing so it’s a dicey start especially w/a tough matchup
15 Josiah Gray WSN at PIT x 141 4.13 1.50 7% 19th/23rd Only for Hail Mary mode
16 Chris Murphy BOS v NYY 42 4.64 1.50 14% 12th/9th
