Starting Pitcher Chart – July 24th

Daily SP Chart archive
The chart includes their season performance, their opponent’s wOBA versus the pitcher’s handedness over the last 30 days, my general start/sit recommendation for 10-team, 12-team, and 15-team (or more) leagues, and then a note about them. Obviously, there are league sizes beyond those three so it’s essentially a shallow, medium, deep. If a pitcher only has an “x” in 15-team, it doesn’t mean there’s no potential use in 10s and 12s, but it’s basically a risky stream for those spots.
These are general recommendations, and your league situation will carry more weight whether you are protecting ratios or chasing counting numbers. This is for standard 5×5 roto leagues. The thresholds for H2H starts are generally lower, especially in points leagues so I thought there would be more value focusing on roto.

RK | PITCHER | TM | OPP | 10 | 12 | 15+ | IP | ERA | WHIP | K-BB | wOBA RK | NOTE | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Luis Castillo | SEA | at | MIN | x | x | x | 118.1 | 3.04 | 1.05 | 22% | 8th | His 3.78 ERA in the L8 is impressive given the bananas 2.5 HR, hope he reigns in the longball before a tm really takes advantage |
2 | Kenta Maeda | MIN | SEA | x | x | x | 42.1 | 5.10 | 1.25 | 22% | 11th | Settling into a groove since his IL return: 2.73 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 26% K-BB | |
3 | Tarik Skubal | DET | SFG | x | x | x | 12 | 5.25 | 1.08 | 23% | 29th | Brutal outing at KCR & the first bump of his season; I’m undeterred espec. w/a 2-step (at MIA this wknd) | |
4 | Yu Darvish | SDP | PIT | x | x | x | 97 | 4.36 | 1.26 | 18% | 26th | Still a Top 50 SP despite the underwhelming output | |
5 | Logan Allen | CLE | KCR | x | x | x | 67.1 | 3.21 | 1.37 | 16% | 22nd | Looked fantastic at PIT and could stay hot w/KCR and at CWS this wk | |
6 | Jon Gray | TEX | at | HOU | x | x | x | 103.1 | 3.31 | 1.19 | 12% | 13th | He’s all over the place lately and probable charts have them running 6 so this is a 1-start at HOU… there are sits to be found if you’re nervous |
7 | José Berríos | TOR | at | LAD | x | x | 119.1 | 3.39 | 1.16 | 16% | 1st | It’s a 1-start wk at LAD (Ryu slated back this wk giving them 6 SPs for 6 gms) so I can find some shallow lg sits despite trusting him | |
8 | Cristopher Sánchez | PHI | BAL | x | x | 35.1 | 3.06 | 1.05 | 17% | 9th | Big opportunity for a 2H favorite of mine w/a trip to PIT this wknd; nice to see 0 HR last time out, needs an uptick in SwStr to keep succeeding | ||
9 | Ross Stripling | SFG | at | DET | x | x | 51.2 | 5.92 | 1.34 | 14% | 30th | Nice QS in CIN & strong 3.86 ERA/0.87 WHIP/20% K-BB in his L16 IP give him some stream appeal | |
10 | Dean Kremer | BAL | at | PHI | x | x | 108.2 | 4.80 | 1.34 | 15% | 21st | Appears to have traded Ks (up 5 pts to 22%) for HRs (up 1.0 to 1.8) which makes him super volatile (8 Game Scores at 55+; 8 under 45)… feeling lucky? | |
11 | Graham Ashcraft | CIN | at | MIL | x | x | 93.2 | 5.77 | 1.54 | 6% | 20th | Isn’t reeling me allll the way back in w/this paltry 5% K-BB despite the 1.82 ERA/1.20 WHIP in his last 25 IP | |
12 | Michael Grove | LAD | TOR | x | 52 | 6.40 | 1.54 | 13% | 14th | Has looked solid in his L3 including a 14% SwStr in 2 of them; worth at least a reserve spot in deeper formats | |||
13 | Patrick Corbin | WSN | COL | x | 114 | 4.89 | 1.54 | 9% | 15th | CIN & SD bombs are the only blemishes in L8 and those were avoidable; always the threat of a dud, but a worthy streamer in deeper lgs | |||
14 | Ryan Yarbrough | KCR | at | CLE | x | 38 | 5.21 | 1.26 | 9% | 24th | CLE has cooled vL once again & Yarb is an out shy of B2B QS since coming off the IL w/9 Ks & 2 BB so I can see a deep lg Hail Mary | ||
15 | Ryne Nelson | ARI | STL | 106.1 | 4.82 | 1.38 | 10% | 3rd | 12 of the 20 ER in his L8 have come in 2 duds & he still has a 4.03 ERA/1.24 WHIP/15% K-BB in 45 IP sample… on my radar, but probably sitting here | ||||
16 | Colin Rea | MIL | CIN | 85.1 | 4.64 | 1.21 | 12% | 9th | There is some deep lg streamer potential in the right spots, this is not such a spot | ||||
17 | Brandon Bielak | HOU | TEX | 65 | 3.46 | 1.40 | 9% | 6th | Just 2 ER in L3 since recall (1.02 ERA), buuuutttt a meager 7% K-BB and crazy .159 BABIP says it’s just some run-hot | ||||
18 | Quinn Priester | PIT | at | SDP | 5.1 | 11.81 | 1.69 | 0% | 5th | Interested to see how he rebounds from a tough debut, especially in a challenging road start | |||
19 | Adam Wainwright | STL | at | ARI | 51.2 | 7.66 | 1.99 | 4% | 16th | Grinding for those 2 Ws (198 career) but it won’t be easy | |||
20 | Karl Kauffmann | COL | at | WSN | 17.2 | 10.19 | 2.04 | -2% | 22nd | No thanks |
Just can’t get myself to start Berrios against the Dodgers.
Likewise with Gray at Houston. No thanks!!!
Looks like we both made the right call
Berrios did OK, wish I would have benched the rotting corpse of Yu Darvish
