Sizemore, Kipnis, Britton, Carrasco, Jansen: DLWW

Grady Sizemore (38% owned – Knee and Hernia ): It has be reported by the team that Sizemore is returning to the Indians in early September. He should then retake his position in CF from Kosuke Fukudome. He is no longer a threat to steal bases, 0 SB so far this season, but has been a decent source of power, 10 HR in 232 AB. He needs to be owned in all deeper and AL only leagues.

Jason Kipnis (32% owned – Oblique/Hamstring): Kipnis can return from the DL on August 30th, but his return may be pushed back a bit. He has been a pleasant surprise for the Indians this season since being called up. He should move right back into his 2B starting role when he returns. I don’t expect his power number to continue, but he should be picked up in all leagues, especially keeper leagues looking forward to next season.

Zach Britton (16% owned – Shoulder) – Britton expects to start tonight (Monday) for the Orioles against Minnesota. The rookie started off the season hot. In his first 10 games, he had a 2.35 ERA, 1.66 K/BB ratio and a 0.242 BABIP. In his next 10 games his ERA was 8.00 with a 1.73 K/BB and a 0.410 BABIP. His strikeouts and walks remained constant over the 2 separate periods, but his ERA was under the spell of the BABIP fairy. I would pick him up if availble. If he pitches great, keep him. It might even be better to trade him to an owner that might over value him. If he doesn’t pitch good, ditch him.

Carlos Carrasco (4.3% owned – Elbow) – He is currently serving a 6 game suspension and is able to return to the team at the end of August. If he is to start or pitch out of the bullpen is not known currently.

He has been decent at times this season with a 2.1 K/BB ratio and an ERA (4.62) that is above his FIP/xFIP/SIERA (4.17/4.01/4.01). Depending on how desperate an owner is for starting pitching, Carrasco may be a decent option for a spot starter if he isn’t sent to the bullpen.

Kenley Jansen (0.4% owned – Chest) – Kenley looks to be an end of the season saves option. He is supposed to return to the Dodgers this Friday as the 8th inning set up man. In his last appearance before going on the DL, he got the save in the game. Right now, Javy Guerra will be getting the save chances, but Jansen could move back into the role if Guerra falters.

Besides the possible chance of getting some saves, Jansen is a nice source of strikeouts. This season he has 14.8 K/9 in 37 IP. If he is able to get his walks under control (5.1 B/9), his ERA (3.65) and WHIP (1.189) could also be driven lower.
