Second Base ADP Market Report: 1/28/26
As we hit the beginning of draft season, it is important to monitor where players are being drafted on a regular basis. Throughout draft season, I will be doing that work for you with regular updates on the Average Draft Position on NFBC up until Opening Day. You can read all the Market Reports here.

Top 200 Players Rising
Bryson Stott (+20.18) – It is surprising to see Stott continue to rise. He hasn’t progressed a ton over the last few seasons, but has found his niche as a high floor player at a position that lacks a ton of depth. The power isn’t prodigious and while he does steal bases, he isn’t a monster in the category. The big issue is Stott doesn’t hit towards the top of the lineup. He spends most of his time hitting eighth or ninth and while he is a good pure hitter, being stuck at the bottom of the lineup in Philly limits his upside.
Top 200 Players Falling
Ozzie Albies (-18.5) – Albies is dropping after another disappointing season where he hit .240/.306/.365 with 16 home runs and 14 stolen bases. On the plus side, he was able to stay healthy all year and rack up 667 plate appearances. The problem was that the underlying power numbers were mediocre and while the contact numbers were good, he didn’t hit the ball hard enough consistently to make it work. There is always the chance he bounces back, but the risk is greater than the reward even at this price.
Top 300 Players Rising
Jorge Polanco (+21.39) – Polanco is rising after signing a multi-year deal with the Mets. Polanco is coming off of one of his best seasons as a Major Leaguer, but does have a history of up and down years. He last played more than 140 games in a single season in 2021 and does have a previous PED suspension in 2018. His price isn’t terrible, but there is a fair amount of risk as he moves to a new park and learns a new defensive position.
Top 300 Players Falling
Matt McLain (-13.62) – McLain is falling after a disappointing season where he hit .220/.300/.343 with 15 home runs and 18 stolen bases. McLain missed all of the 2024 season and he wasn’t the same guy when he returned last season. Part of that may be that we overrated McLain as a player after his 2023 breakout and overrated how much Great American Ballpark might help him. His BABIP was extremely high in 2023 and he didn’t have a carrying tool for fantasy. He will likely put up numbers similar to 2025 this season as long as he stays healthy and while the price isn’t bad, there isn’t a ton of upside in the bat unless we see something in spring that looks different.
Others of Note
Lenyn Sosa (-38.38) – See the article in this series on first basemen.
Willi Castro (+35.18) – Castro is rising after signing a two-year deal in Colorado. Castro has been a usable fantasy player in his time in Minnesota but he has mostly been used in a super-utility role. Now he will play every day in a great home park that will help with his BABIP. He has stolen 30+ bases before so there is some upside.
Jeff McNeil (+82.89) – McNeil is moving up after being traded to the A’s. He will get to hit in a much better park, in the middle of an improving lineup, and play everyday. However, that won’t make him an extremely valuable player. He doesn’t have much power or speed and his days of hitting .300 are likely over. He could be an interesting accumulator in deeper leagues but that is about it.
Cole Young (+54.02) – Young is moving up as the Mariners have not brought in a player to block him off of being their second baseman. Young doesn’t have a ton of upside, but could be an accumulator if given full time at bats. Right now, he is going late still so there isn’t much risk attached, but hitting at the bottom of the lineup and potentially platooning will not move the needle much in most leagues.

One small thing with Stott is his 1st / 2nd half splits. He hit like a star in the 2nd half. My guess is that these kinds of things are usually just noise, but maybe not?
