“Mike Napoli can hit 20 HRs and drive in 90 with no problem.”
And yet he has only done it once in his career.
This is a fair point! But he has hit at least 20 homers in six of the past seven seasons (17 last year) and averaged almost 23 each campaign in that span.
I also think you’d agree that RBIs are an opportunity statistic and not necessarily representative of his skills as a hitter. I think with 20-homer power, he could very reasonably reach 90 RBIs again considering he bats fifth in the Red Sox lineup, which most agree should be a top-five offense in 2015.
