Quick Hits

Luis Robert was placed on the 10-Day IL with a MCL sprain. This will end his season.

Reese McGuire left Tuesday’s game with a thumb injury. Consider him day-to-day for now.

J.D. Davis left Tuesday’s game after this play with a shoulder injury.

Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Corey Seager left Tuesday’s game after being hit with a pitch on the forearm. X-rays were negative. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Chas McCormick left Tuesday’s game after being hit in the back with a pitch:

This was scary as McCormick had to be helped off of the field. The Astros stated that it was a back contusion and that he is day-to-day for now it appears he avoided any serious injury.

Various News and Notes
Josiah Gray threw six innings against the Orioles, allowing one earned run on two walks and five hits while striking out seven in the loss on Tuesday.

This ends a nice growth season for Gray who finishes with a 3.91 ERA and 143 strikeouts in 159 innings pitched. While the walks continue to be an issue, he cut his home run rate considerably down to a respectable 1.25 per nine innings. He will likely be an overlooked fantasy starter heading into his age 26 season.

Parker Meadows went 2-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Royals on Tuesday.

Meadows has been up and down in his Major League debut, hitting .223/331/.369 with three home runs and seven stolen bases in 121 plate appearances this year. In spite of the 28% strikeout rate, he has actually made pretty decent in zone contact and has a swinging strike rate of just 10.2%. There is decent pop in the bat with a fair amount of speed which could make him an interesting late round pick if he can continue to show these contact skills.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: Matt Waldron vs SF

Waldron has pitched well since entering the Padres rotation and gets a bad San Francisco offense at home.

High Risk Options: Sean Manaea vs SD, Griffin Canning vs TEX.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Sawyer Gipson-Long

Gipson Long has pitched very well since his call up and has a nice matchup at home versus the Royals.

High Risk Options: Luis Ortiz at PHI, David Peterson vs MIA

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “High Risk Options.”
