Quick Hits
Top Pirates prospect O’Neil Cruz was in a motor vehicle accident on Monday that resulted in the deaths of three people. There are conflicting reports, but it sounds like Cruz may have been under the influence. If proven, he would likely serve a considerable time in prison.
Dylan Moore was placed on the 7-day IL with a concussion. Moore was hit twice in the head with a fastball in the last week. This will end his season, but he will be an interesting player to monitor in drafts coming into 2021 after a season with eight home runs and 12 stolen bases in just 38 games for Seattle.
Andrelton Simmons opted out of the 2020 season. The Angels only had five games left and they were out of the playoff mix, so this isn’t necessarily that surprising. He will be a free agent next year. With Simmons out, Luis Rengifo will get some more playing time and could be a stolen base asset.
Various News and Notes
Austin Voth threw seven innings, allowing only one run on three hits and a walk while striking out seven. Voth was impressive in this outing and has now had two straight good starts. Voth was a popular sleeper coming into the season, but has struggled. If he has righted the ship, he could be an interesting sleeper coming into 2021.
Griffin Canning threw six innings versus the Padres, allowing one run on two hits and five walks while striking out 10 in the outing. Canning was filthy in this one and has much better in the second half of this short season. Canning was popular in early drafts this year before suffering an arm injury. He has the skills to take a big leap, and is still only 24 years old.
Alex Dickerson hit a pinch hit home run to put the Giants ahead in the seventh inning in the victory over the Rockies. Dickerson was not in the lineup originally due to some elbow soreness, but he was feeling well enough to come in and help the Giants win. He has now hit home runs in two consecutive games and is worth picking up down the stretch.

Pitcher for Today: Carlos Martinez at KC
Martinez hasn’t been great since returning from the IL, but this is a nice matchup and the Cardinals need this win.
High Risk Options: Danny Duffy vs STL, Jaime Barria vs SD.
Pitcher for Tomorrow: Kris Bubic vs DET
Bubic has been great as of late and has a great matchup.
High Risk Options: Martin Perez vs BAL
