Roto Riteup: September 20, 2021 by Justin Mason September 20, 2021 This was an amazing thread. Please give it a read. In 2013, I was the #1 overall pick in the MLB Draft. 5 years later, I was called “the biggest bust in MLB history.” Today, I’m working my way back, and I’m here to share both the hard-earned lessons I’ve learned along the way🧵👇 — Mark Appel (@markappel26) September 17, 2021 On the Agenda: Closer Chaos Quick Hits Various News and Notes Streaming Pitchers Closer Chaos Garrett Richards threw a perfect ninth inning to get the save against the Orioles on Sunday. Richards has been fantastic since going into the bullpen for Boston and with Garrett Whitlock leaving the game injured today, Richards could emerge as the top option for the Red Sox moving forward, but I thoroughly expect it to be a committee rest of the way anyhow. Quick Hits Jake Arrieta left his start on Sunday with a groin strain. Consider him day-to-day for now. Kyle Tucker left Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury. The Astros are describing it as discomfort, so hopefully it isn’t too serious. Various News and Notes Wily Peralta threw seven scoreless innings in the victory over the Rays, allowing just three hits and three walks while striking out three. Peralta pitched through trouble a couple of times and was visited by the trainer early in the game, but was able to work through it to throw a gem. Peralta has been really good this season, posting a 3.04 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP in spite of not striking out many batters. The underlying numbers don’t support what he is doing, but ride the hot streak to the end. Logan Gilbert threw seven innings in the victory over the Royals, allowing one run on three hits and a walk while striking out five. His strong finish should give people plenty of reasons to push him up the ADP heading into 2022. Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS) Pitcher for Today: None Options are just too risky for me.
