Closer Chaos

Shelby Miller left Monday’s game with an elbow injury.

Miller reportedly felt a pop in the elbow which is not good. He may be done for the season.

Quick Hits
Edward Cabrera was placed on the IL with an elbow strain. This likely ends his season. The question will be whether he is ready for Opening Day or if this is a more serious injury.

Jonathan India was placed on the IL with a wrist strain. There is no timetable for his return.

Casey Schmitt left Monday’s game after being hit with a pitch in the elbow.

X-rays were negative so consider him day-to-day at this time.

Jason Adam left Monday’s game with a ruptured quad tendon.

This will end Adam’s season. There is no timetable for how long the recovery will be.

Adolis García left Monday’s game with a quad injury. There was no update on his condition following the game, but manager Bruce Bochy stated he would be reevaluated on Tuesday. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Various News and Notes
The Milwaukee Brewer claimed Ha-Seong Kim 김하성 from the Rays on Monday. The Rays waived the infielder likely due to him having an option in his contract that they did not want to pick up. Kim will likely be depth in the infield, but he could get enough playing time to have some value on a good Brewers team down the stretch.

Zack Gelof went 3-for-5 with a home run in the victory over the Cardinals on Monday.

Gelof has power and speed, but he struggles with consistent contact. He plays in a great park and the A’s have no reason not to play him everyday. He might be worth using down the stretch if he can stay hot.

Drew Gilbert 4-for-4 with a home run in the victory over the Rockies on Monday.

Gilbert has been pretty good since being called up by the Giants, hitting .261 with two home runs and a stolen base in 46 at bats. He isn’t playing every day yet, but he has played in three of the last four Giants games. There is some accumulator potential here if he is playing regularly.

Streaming Pitchers (Under 50% in CBS)

Pitcher for Today: Davis Martin at MIN

Martin has pitched well recently and has a good matchup here.

Other Options: Luis Severino at STL, Slade Cecconi at BOS, Cade Cavalli vs MIA

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Payton Tolle vs CLE

Tolle looked great in his debut and faced a Guardians lineup that you aren’t afraid of.

Other Options: Zebby Matthews vs CHW, Adrian Houser vs SEA, Braxton Ashcraft vs LAD, Ryan Berget vs LAA, Jason Alexander vs NYY.

For those of you that would like to see how these picks play out, I have a doc I put together to track the stats from my recommended pitchers. It does not include the “Other Options.”
