Various News and Notes
Luis Severino was activated from the 10-Day IL on Tuesday, throwing four innings versus the Angels, striking out four in the outing. Severino looked strong in the outing and needs to get some work in before the start of the playoffs. Look for the Yankees to try and stretch him out a bit in his next start.

Chris Paddack’s season is over after his start on Tuesday. The Padres have elected to shut him down after pitching just over 50 more innings than last year. Paddack finished his 2019 strong, throwing five innings of one-run ball while striking out nine. His rookie season was a mixed bag, starting off hot with a 1.55 ERA and 10.18 k/9 in 40.2 innings in his first seven starts, then cooling off from mid-May to mid-August posting a 5.05 ERA and an 8.8 k/9 in 76.2 innings over his next 15 starts. However, over his final five starts of the season, he threw 28.1 innings, allowing only three earned runs and striking out 41. He is going around pick 80 in the #2EarlyMock drafts which may leave some nice profit potential for the young Padres frontman.

Aristides Aquino went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run on Tuesday versus the Cubs. Aquino was the hottest thing in baseball in August, hitting 14 home runs with a .320/.391/.767 triple slash. However, in September, he has come back down to Earth, hitting only two home runs with a .161/.180/.290 and a robust 30.8% strikeout rate. This may be what Aquino is, a streaky hitter that can win you weeks and completely fall off the map. He will be an interesting player to monitor in early drafts next season.

Quick Hits
Felipe Vasquez has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest for solicitation of a child and providing obscene material to a minor. This will obviously end his season and quite possibly his career.

According to manager Aaron Boone, there is a possibility that Giancarlo Stanton could be activated from the 10-Day IL on Wednesday. Stanton flew back to New York on Tuesday and appears to be recovered from his injuries.

Jason Kipnis’ season is over after an x-ray discovered a broken hamate bone in his wrist.

Franmil Reyes was a late scratch on Tuesday due to a personal matter. No word yet on how long he is expected to be out.

According to the Boston Globe, Mookie Betts underwent an MRI on his injured foot earlier this week that showed no structural damage, only inflammation. Hopefully that means he should be back in the lineup for the Red Sox very soon.

Luis Rengifo was removed from Tuesday’s game with a hand injury. X-rays after the game were negative. Consider him day-to-day at this time.

Jorge Alfaro left Tuesday’s game with a wrist injury after being hit by a pitch during a swing and miss. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Dellin Betances’ season is over after partially tearing his Achilles tendon.

J.D Martinez left Tuesday’s game versus the Giants with a groin issue. This sounds precautionary but consider him day-to-day for now.

Ketel Marte left Tuesday’s game with back stiffness. Consider him day-to-day for now.

David Price is expected to miss the rest of the season with his ailing wrist.
