Sixteen years ago today MTV debuted Total Request Live. I have strong memories of coming home from middle (and to a lesser extent high) school and watching TRL.

On today’s agenda:
1. More hits from Adam Lind
2. A hot bat for Lorenzo Cain
3. Another strong start from Jose Quintana
4. The daily five

More hits from Adam Lind
Even before we include Lind’s 2-for-3 game (with a walk and a home run) yesterday, he’s been on a tear against right-handed pitching all year. Of course a .406 BABIP against righties will help a triple slash, however over the course of his career he’s feasted on opposite-handed pitchers. Lind’s fantastic .328/.394/.492 line has been hidden mostly due to injuries and not many dingers. He’s hit just five long balls in 284 plate appearances this year as injuries have limited his playing time more than just platoon issues. For the final two weeks of the season picking up Lind to plug in against righties is a great option. One can find him available in 65% of ESPN leagues plus over 70% of both CBS and Yahoo! formats.

A hot bat for Lorenzo Cain
Cain went 1-for-3 but drew a walk and nabbed his 26th bag of the year yesterday afternoon. He’s hitting over .300 for both August and the first two weeks of September and has 11 steals over the past six weeks. That yesterday was his first walk of the month doesn’t bode well for on-base percentage league players, but it isn’t like you’re grab Cain for his BB% or slugging. His value is all about batting average and steals and he’s delivered both lately. I’m a fan of his now and a big fan looking ahead to next season. With Josh Willingham, Raul Ibanez and Norichika Aoki all having contracts coming off the books next year, I expect Cain to get more playing time. If you’re making a run this year, Cain can help with his running and can be picked up in over 50% of ESPN and CBS formats as well as 80% of Yahoo! leagues.

Another strong start from Jose Quintana
Yesterday’s start marked a career high in terms of strikeouts for Quintana as he fanned 13 Minnesota Twins in seven innings. Of his 111 pitches, Quintana gathered an absurd 23 swinging strikes. He scattered three hits and a pair of walks while giving up a single run, making it his 20th quality start in 30 games started. Quintana now owns an impressive 8.00 K/9 and 2.52 BB/9 in 185.2 innings this season to go with his 3.30 ERA/2.77 FIP/3.44 xFIP. Despite the numbers, Quntana is somehow available in 65% of ESPN leagues and 55% of Yahoo! formats however just 20% of CBS leagues. If for any reason he isn’t yet owned in your league, grab him for his final two starts of the year.

The daily five
Starting pitcher: Jordan Zimmermann — $10,300
The pitcher I call Jay Z will be facing the New York Mets today, along with their tied-for-17th ranked 93 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers.

Starting pitcher: Jon Lester — $12,100
Expensive price aside, Lester gets to go up against the Seattle Mariners and their 28th rated offense versus southpaws.

Infielder: Lonnie Chisenhall — $3,700
Both the Cleveland Indians in general and Chisenhall in specific crush righty pitchers. Though he’ll be up against Justin Verlander, I still like Chisenhall to post a big day.

Outfielder: Adam Eaton — $3,800
Eaton holds the platoon advantage over Trevor May.

Other hitter: Miguel Montero — $3,100
After having yesterday off, I think Montero comes back fresh and has a good day against Odrisamer Despaigne.

Remaining budget: $17,000
